If you're going to have and endorse wings, I'd hope they'd at least be edible to say the least. Grotesque experience.

Looking for a Slice of Chicago in Colorado? Jimano's Pizzeria in Englewood, CO hits the spot. With their friendly service, generous portions, and authentic flavors, it's no wonder they've become a local favorite. We arrived at Jimano's and sat in the main dining room. Jimano's does deliver if you're looking for pizza to come to you. Jimano's specializes in iconic Chicago deep-dish pizzas - a hearty affair with a one-inch-thick crust baked in a pan. We dove into their signature deep dish, a cheesy masterpiece overflowing with sauce, green peppers, mushrooms, and a generous helping of sausage. Definitely a pizza meant for sharing! While the deep dish was the star of the show, Jimano's offered plenty of other delicious Italian options. For an appetizer we tried Jimano's "Famous Mouth Watering Breadstix". They had a lightly crisped exterior with a light, fluffy interior. They weren't too heavy and had a dusting of parmesan on top. For sandwiches, we had Jimano's Italian Beef Sandwich. Tender Italian beef was piled high on a toasted bun, dripping with jus, and topped with melted cheese. But be warned: the Giardiniera peppers packed a punch! We loved it because we wanted the heat. We had to end on a sweet note so for dessert, we had the Cannolis. The crispy shells were filled with creamy ricotta and chocolate chips.

Jimanos 16" thin. 1/2 sausage mushroom and garlic, 1/2 pepperoni sausage mushroom and green pepper.

I love this place. Drive down from the mountains every few Mondays to grab the special -- 16" thin with up to 3 toppings for $21.95. That's usually sausage, fresh garlic, and mushroom for me. Outstanding, flavorful, and a great deal. You can't go wrong. Casual atmosphere, and service is always good.

Finally decided to give this place another go since it's so close, better than the first time, but still not a home run. We ordered a 14in thin crust with pepperoni on the whole thing, mushrooms on half, and jalapeños on half. We ordered on a Saturday around 6:40pm and they told us 40 minutes. Based on our last takeout experience being cold, we showed up closer to 30 minutes and it was ready at the 35 mark. It definitely tasted better than the first time we went here but my biggest complaint was when we called in, we specifically asked if the jalapeños were fresh or pickled, we're told they were fresh, and when we got the pizza they were 100% pickled jalapeños. I really dislike pickled jalapeños but love fresh ones...hence why I always ask, as if I'd known they were pickled, I would have ordered a different topping. In comparison to most pickled jalapeños, these were better and less vinegar-y. My second complaint is the price, $23 for a 14in 2 topping thin crust pizza is a bit steep in my opinion, especially knowing we can get the same thing for cheaper right down the street at a different pizza place.

I have been visiting…read moreColore since my son was performing in band and orchestra concerts at DU, about 10-15 years now. It is not near my home, so I look for reasons to visit. My latest no-brainer excuse is to indulge in a nice meal prior to concerts from at Swallow Hill Music Center, located across the street from Colore. Last night was one of these nights. Quite the date night for me and my husband--a full meal at Colore and a Face Vocal Band concert at Swallow Hill! Colore has all the traditional American-Italian favorites, including lasagne and other creative pasta dishes (is the pasta homemade? I'm not sure, but it's yum!), chicken parm/picatta/marsala/saltimbocca, steak, fish, it is all very high quality and creative cooking. Pizza and calzones are also available. The prices are incredibly reasonable. Don't forget to glance at the cocktail menu, where they've tailored cocktails to include amaro, Campari, aperol, and limoncello to delicious result. Try the Italian Greyhound with Boulder Spirits gin and aperol, the Black Manhattan with Stranahan's whiskey and amaro, or the Italian margarita with Campari. And the wine list is reasonable, too, with a few high end Italian choices by the bottle, and many options by the glass to keep your budget down for the evening. And sangria? Yes, please! The desserts all have a nice Italian twist, as well. Cannoli, Tiramisu, gelato, and other indulgences. My FAVORITE THING? The garlic knots that come out with every meal, along with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. These are just heavenly, yeasty, soft, unforgettable. There is also always a special or two which we have found to be perhaps the most exciting and delicious on the menu. Last night, my husband ordered the salmon special. This piece of wonderful salmon was stuffed with lump blue crab and spinach, and had a white sauce with fennel and I forget what else, which was simply heaven. It was placed on a dollop of polenta. He ate every last bite. I opted for the vegetable lasagne, which didn't disappoint. A three-inch cube of lasagne, covered in their homemade marinara, with all the veggies--spinach, broccoli, artichoke, mushroom, zucchini. And of course, the requisite ricotta and mozzarella/parm layers. When we were sufficiently stuffed, we decided to share a dessert. Given the nice spring weather, we were drawn to the carrot cake with pineapple, walnuts, and berries, and a scoop of pistachio gelato. This carrot cake was a little two-layer individual round tower; they layer filled with pineapple sweetness and topped with a walnut cream. Strawberries and whip on the side made it feel healthy (lol). The pistachio gelato was the perfect accompaniment (we always need ice cream, right?), with little crunchy pistachios mixed in, as one would hope it would have. Our server was bubbly, very nice, and efficient. It was a great meal. I should also mention that they have takeout. How great would that be to have in your neighborhood? I noticed when I went online to make reservations, that Colore has just opened a Littleton location. I would like to submit a request--next location opening--Downtown Golden! That's my town, and I would love to have Colore take-out every week. And date night even more often. If no luck with getting a location in Golden, I will continue to keep my eye out for Face Vocal Band concerts at Swallow Hill, so that I have a great excuse to make my way down to South Broadway for a wonderful meal at Colore.

I called and was very swiftly transferred to another associate. The woman who answered the phone had a very "I'm not going to be bothered with that" tone as she said "oh, hold on." I was told my order would be ready in 10-15 mins, I came by 20 mins after ordering and it wasn't ready. Restaurant was pretty empty, maybe 2 tables and a couple of bar guests. The bartender had a bit of a pretentious attitude. The truffle carbonara was delicious, but not anything I couldn't get elsewhere. The hefty price tag just doesn't make sense for me, honestly. The tiramisu was actually one of the best I've had in Denver. Super decadent and moist and creamy, would def return for that alone. Overall the whole experience was a 3 star for me. I will give them another chance and dine-in next time, I'd like to try what else they have to offer!

Wine list was a lot shorter than I sort of expected from a place called a "wine bar." The malbec I ordered a glass of was fine; my wife's rose champagne was very nice and dry. We tried a couple of apps to see if we wanted to order dinner. The polenta fries were dry. The Korean pork tidbits were tasty but just little chunks of pork in a bowl. Nothing drastically wrong with either, but not anything particularly inspiring, either. We decided to have dinner elsewhere. SERVICE: Friendly, but felt pushed to order something *right now*. The receipt came with QR code for payment through Toast. It wasn't clear if I should pay through that, or wait for her to take my card. (I used the QR code, and the waitperson then wandered over (to get my card, it seemed) and seemed surprised and very relieved I'd used the QR code, which saved them so much work. AMBIANCE: Nicely decorated place. They apparently do a number of events, and when we were there, a big party was going on in the front half of the dining room, which was fairly noisy (and the crowd of which spread across the entrance). NET-NET: Not a great experience -- not bad, strictly speaking, but there's a lot of other places I could have gone. I'd eat there again if a friend recommended meeting there, but given the many choices in downtown Englewood, I wouldn't pick it again on my own.
