If you're making Sunday dinner plans, make them at Jimano's Pizzeria. Originally from Chicago, Jimano's brings a menu packed with something for everyone: multiple styles of pizza, ribs, sandwiches, and more. On my visit, I tried: Thin crust pizza with pepperoni and onion Stuffed pepperoni pizza -- a deep-dish style pie loaded with cheese and plenty of sauce Jimano's breadsticks (perfectly seasoned and addicting) The pizzas are made with care, quality ingredients, and that unmistakable Chicago flavor. The stuffed pizza is a cheesy, saucy dream, while the thin crust hits that perfect balance of crispy and flavorful. Whether you're craving deep-dish indulgence or a lighter, crispy slice, Jimano's delivers. Definitely worth adding to your Denver-area pizza list.

If you're going to have and endorse wings, I'd hope they'd at least be edible to say the least. Grotesque experience.

Looking for a Slice of Chicago in Colorado? Jimano's Pizzeria in Englewood, CO hits the spot. With their friendly service, generous portions, and authentic flavors, it's no wonder they've become a local favorite. We arrived at Jimano's and sat in the main dining room. Jimano's does deliver if you're looking for pizza to come to you. Jimano's specializes in iconic Chicago deep-dish pizzas - a hearty affair with a one-inch-thick crust baked in a pan. We dove into their signature deep dish, a cheesy masterpiece overflowing with sauce, green peppers, mushrooms, and a generous helping of sausage. Definitely a pizza meant for sharing! While the deep dish was the star of the show, Jimano's offered plenty of other delicious Italian options. For an appetizer we tried Jimano's "Famous Mouth Watering Breadstix". They had a lightly crisped exterior with a light, fluffy interior. They weren't too heavy and had a dusting of parmesan on top. For sandwiches, we had Jimano's Italian Beef Sandwich. Tender Italian beef was piled high on a toasted bun, dripping with jus, and topped with melted cheese. But be warned: the Giardiniera peppers packed a punch! We loved it because we wanted the heat. We had to end on a sweet note so for dessert, we had the Cannolis. The crispy shells were filled with creamy ricotta and chocolate chips.

Jimanos 16" thin. 1/2 sausage mushroom and garlic, 1/2 pepperoni sausage mushroom and green pepper.

I love this place. Drive down from the mountains every few Mondays to grab the special -- 16" thin with up to 3 toppings for $21.95. That's usually sausage, fresh garlic, and mushroom for me. Outstanding, flavorful, and a great deal. You can't go wrong. Casual atmosphere, and service is always good.

What a pizza high I have! I've been to this restaurant once before when I was seeking out a great Chicago beef sandwich. Dining-in was prohibited so I enjoyed that beef in the car. The owner's wife came out to see if I liked it and mentioned her husband was from Chicago. She said they also have pizza in the Chicago tradition. I put it on my mental wishlist to return. Today seemed like a great day for a pizza. Who am I kidding..? ANY DAY is a great day for pizza! We went to Jimano's for a late lunch. I couldn't decide if I wanted to try their deep-dish or their stuffed pizza. From the Yelp pictures, both looked great. My wife said, "Why don't you order one of each?" Gawd I love that woman! So we ordered a 10" deep dish and a 10" stuffed. I'm not a thin crust kind of pizza lover, but I won't pass up any pizzas if they're offered. When I have my way, though, I want a pizza with lots of stuff and I prefer a sufficient amount of breadiness to it. I also like a sausage that chews like pieces of meat versus the ground sausage I found on Oregano's pizza. When Paul, our friendly and very attentive server brought the pizzas to our table I started with the stuffed one. The crust was nice and bready and well worth eating once I finished the rest of the slice. There was plenty of flavorful sauce. The meat chewed like real sausage and the green peppers and black olives were a perfect accent to all the cheese. The deep-dish pizza had a different flavor but was delicious all the same. It had much less sauce than the stuffed. The cheese, sausage, green peppers, and black olives were perfectly proportioned so each bite gave me plenty of goodness. The crust was less bready but still worth eating. I'm still torn as to which one I like better. I'd probably order the stuffed again because of the abundance of sauce and more bready crust, but I also enjoyed every bite of that deep dish. Decisions... decisions... Why does Jimano's have to make life so hard?! :-)

My latest no-brainer excuse is to indulge in a nice meal prior to concerts from at Swallow Hill Music Center, located across the street from Colore. Last night was one of these nights. Quite the date night for me and my husband--a full meal at Colore and a Face Vocal Band concert at Swallow Hill! Colore has all the traditional American-Italian favorites, including lasagne and other creative pasta dishes (is the pasta homemade? I'm not sure, but it's yum!), chicken parm/picatta/marsala/saltimbocca, steak, fish, it is all very high quality and creative cooking. Pizza and calzones are also available. The prices are incredibly reasonable. Don't forget to glance at the cocktail menu, where they've tailored cocktails to include amaro, Campari, aperol, and limoncello to delicious result. Try the Italian Greyhound with Boulder Spirits gin and aperol, the Black Manhattan with Stranahan's whiskey and amaro, or the Italian margarita with Campari. And the wine list is reasonable, too, with a few high end Italian choices by the bottle, and many options by the glass to keep your budget down for the evening. And sangria? Yes, please! The desserts all have a nice Italian twist, as well. Cannoli, Tiramisu, gelato, and other indulgences. My FAVORITE THING? The garlic knots that come out with every meal, along with olive oil and balsamic for dipping. These are just heavenly, yeasty, soft, unforgettable. There is also always a special or two which we have found to be perhaps the most exciting and delicious on the menu. Last night, my husband ordered the salmon special. This piece of wonderful salmon was stuffed with lump blue crab and spinach, and had a white sauce with fennel and I forget what else, which was simply heaven. It was placed on a dollop of polenta. He ate every last bite. I opted for the vegetable lasagne, which didn't disappoint. A three-inch cube of lasagne, covered in their homemade marinara, with all the veggies--spinach, broccoli, artichoke, mushroom, zucchini. And of course, the requisite ricotta and mozzarella/parm layers. When we were sufficiently stuffed, we decided to share a dessert. Given the nice spring weather, we were drawn to the carrot cake with pineapple, walnuts, and berries, and a scoop of pistachio gelato. This carrot cake was a little two-layer individual round tower; they layer filled with pineapple sweetness and topped with a walnut cream. Strawberries and whip on the side made it feel healthy (lol). The pistachio gelato was the perfect accompaniment (we always need ice cream, right?), with little crunchy pistachios mixed in, as one would hope it would have. Our server was bubbly, very nice, and efficient. It was a great meal. I should also mention that they have takeout. How great would that be to have in your neighborhood? I noticed when I went online to make reservations, that Colore has just opened a Littleton location. I would like to submit a request--next location opening--Downtown Golden! That's my town, and I would love to have Colore take-out every week. And date night even more often. If no luck with getting a location in Golden, I will continue to keep my eye out for Face Vocal Band concerts at Swallow Hill, so that I have a great excuse to make my way down to South Broadway for a wonderful meal at Colore.

The inside of the restaurant had a mid-century modern feel that reminded me of my childhood home. After sitting down and reviewing the menu, my friends decided on the frozen rosé, while I stuck with a Coke since I was driving. The soda hit the spot, but my friends found the frozen rosé a bit bitter and weren't fans. For starters, we highly recommend the garlic bread and pepperoni rolls. The sauces served with them tasted fresh and were packed with flavor. After appetizers, we ordered three pizzas and a Caesar salad. The restaurant got busier after we sat down, and our food took a little over 30 minutes to arrive. When the pizzas finally came out, they were absolutely worth the wait. They were visually appealing, and we couldn't wait to dive in. I ordered the veggie pizza, and it was so good. Our friends got the White Tiger pizza and added prosciutto, while my husband ordered the mushroom pizza with added sausage.
