WATCH OUT!! I really like the products in the Jimbos stores, BUT, check the expiration dates!!! Every time I shop there I find expired items. I missed one yesterday: I purchased almond milk and it was THREE months past expiration! Three months!! While in the store I also grabbed some half-and-half and noticed it had just expired that day. Appearently some items don't move off shelves very quickly and thus hit expiration. Beside that, I really like the variety of products and give two thumbs up to the very knowledgeable help in the vitamin/health section (Escondido). read more

As a Deli...Jimbo's has the BEST tuna salad supreme ever...if you like tuna, but are always scared to get it at places...because you know they probably make it crappy....GET it at Jimbo's...it is sooo good...sometimes I will crave it...I used to live closer and pop in for one..because otherwise I don't shop at Jimbo's too expensivo for me..stick to TJ's & Henrys for that...but the sandwhich is cheap 5.50 and it's huge..usually eat in two sittings..(usually) =) So I am sure the rest of the sandwiches are as quality. read more

GReat place for quality organic produce at a relatively reasonable price, gluten free products, health foods, vitamins and homeopathic products. You have to be a savvy shopper to shop the right prices. Some items are less expensive at Trader Joe's or Henry's. One thing I can say for Jimbo's though is that they stand behind their products. If per chance the produce was not satisfactory, return it. They will refund your money. I love that it is clean and easy to get around in. One of my favorite places to shop in Escondido. read more

Today was my first time here. I loved it!! Best grocery store experience ever. My entire experience was great customer service after great customer service. Angel the assistant deli manager was extremely friendly and welcoming. He explaine all my options for sandwiches, combos, salad bar ect. Ultimately I ordered hot food for now, and the Lone Star sandy for later. Both were spectacular!!! Then I decided to get a fresh veggie juice made. The wonderful shorter dark haired angel made the best green juice for me and was very helpful in assisting me with the tuna and egg salad. I don't know that I've ever got such service at a grocery store before! Go Jimbos!! read more

I would give this place four star it's fresh with both organic and regular produce reasonable with vitamins the only down fall is the people who work over the counter look like something from a Halloween movie the way they dress themselves with all that tattoos dark hair earrings etc when I see those workers I am kind of sketchy getting something from the deli and bakery. My experience was way below par. I purchased over $500 in items in two trips. I asked if returns here are done in the same form as purchased. That I was expecting to return items. Stacey and Justin helped me and wanted to return $35 in items paid with debit as store credit. I refused explained normally they would do cash or debit return. I was given $25 on credit. Which takes ten days to apply to account. They were rude. I would not recommend this store to anyone. Bought bag of oranges that cost $15-20. Brought home it was moldy!!!! read more

So soooo good, if you're vegetarian like me and find it hard to find take out in Escondido or North County. Their deli has hot and cold items that are changing every day with all kinds of vegetarian/vegan/meat items. Because of the quality of their food and ingredients you can really feel good about eating their food, but it also comes with a higher price. I've been trying to be thrifty and cook at home, but at least once a week, I treat myself to a Jimbo's meal. The store itself is also amazing, with organic LOCAL produce and special vegan items. I also love their beauty department for natural bath and beauty products. Bottom Line: not the most economical way to feed your family, but it works for the single vegetarian! read more

Prices are high and I get better produce at Sprouts. Prices are sometimes incorrectly marked and selections are smaller in variety than whole foods and Sprouts. read more

We come here often because of their great products, deli counter, and bakery. Today, we came in to get a muffin for breakfast and Felipe was outstanding! We asked for the biggest one and he took the extra time to look at the options to find us the biggest. We are very impressed. You can tell the employees care about their products. read more

Terrible, unfriendly customer service at the Deli counter, Jan-June 2012. At least 5 different individuals have been unfriendly, cranky and unpleasant to me when I was simply requesting soup to be refilled so I could buy some fresh soup, the soups were burnt at the bottom and out of broth (heat obviously too high), mislabeled. Some of the sandwiches each day (usually the wraps) missing labels that tell which ingredients are in them and the young man that actually made the sandwich couldn't remember all the ingredients that was in it. Some of the people are just not friendly, do not smile, and do not always come up to wait on you right away. Not up to Jimbo's usually great service (at the Carlsbad & Carmel Valley locations). I will never shop there again! read more

I love Jimbos. Their juice bar is great. The hot food case always has delicious vegan and vegetarian options. The bakery case looks appealing daily. Lots of options for nuts, rice, etc in bulk bins. Multiple options on vegan cheese. Quite a few options for lesser known bottled water brands, more than one ph balanced option. Produce is good quality, they even have reed avocados sometimes. And the checkout staff is always friendly. read more

After being disappointed with the minimal vegan options at the Wild Animal Park (kind of ironic that almost all of your options are to EAT animals, while there to visit animals and learn about them becoming endangered) we thought we would have limited options to eat at afterwards since the area seems dismal. On a whim, we stopped at Jimbos and we were all so pleasantly surprised with the vast selection of vegan food choices. Hearty veggie burgers, vegan mashed potatoes and gravy, salads, roasts and the list goes on. Making it even more perfect were their vegan white chocolate raspberry scones, carob chocolate cake, brownies and coconut cream pie (ALL VEGAN). It made our day THAT much better, especially after leaving the park really hungry and unsatisfied. As season pass holders, we were thrilled to find this gem of a market and will undoubtedly return. The Wild Animal Park could really learn a thing or two from Mr. Jimbo himself. read more

Their Deli and bakery are both phenomenal. My favorites are the Vegan Chocolate cake (best chocolate cake in the universe) and the Lone Star Sandwich (best sandwich in the universe). I will drive all the way from El Cajon just for a sandwich and cake - it's that good. Everything I have had from their deli or bakery has been great. Their organic produce is super cheap compared to Whole Foods etc- you can buy organic for the same price as regular produce. read more

It is so nice to have a healthy alternative here in Escondido. I especially love the deli - everything is so yummy and clearly marked vegan, vegetarian or other options. They also make their sausages on site - very good. Everything is organic, including the meat; so you pay a higher price....but the food just taste better ! I went to this store to purchase a salad for my daughter. At that time, I was the only customer at the counter being waiting on. I placed my order with the service guy at the counter. The Jimbo's employee started to fill my order but then another couple came up to the counter to place an order. To my surprise, the Jimbo's employee stop working on my request and then told me to wait and someone would be there to help me. Well no one came to complete my order, I basically stood there while the Jimbo's employee assisted the couple who had come to the counter long after I had already been there. I am African American and the couple that came to the counter after I had already been there were Caucasians. It was so humiliating to stand there while this was happening. I told the Jimbo's employee that what he did was not cool. The manager offered me a "free sandwich" to make up for the incident. I refused the offer and I am not sorry to say that I will never go back to the store after being treated so badly. My experience at Jimbo's is one that I will never forget. read more

Jimbos is much more expensive than the other food stores in Escondido such as Trader Joes and Henrys. However, they have a great selection of natural foods and their deli is great. Lastly, we don't eat their produce because it goes bad quickly and doesn't look that great in the store either. read more

I am a big fan of this store. (I also get a cholesterol check from the Fingerstick man every few months.) Whenever I have a question, a member of staff is not far away and more than willing to help me find what I am in search of. Such a friendly atmosphere and a very clean store. With Sprouts a few blocks away and Trader Joe's in the opposite direction we are spoiled for choice but Jimbo's is a popular one for me. read more

One of the few real health food stores in the San Diego area. Produce section is good, usually well stocked and fresh, which should not be difficult when considering how much local agricultural there is to source from. The meat department has never had good lamb even though almost every other grocery store has New Zealand or Australian or Icelandic grass fed lamb nowadays. The prices for beef are high with not much in the way of deals. I have never seen bison in the meat department which should be a must for a premium health food store along with the pastured lamb. The seafood section is a joke, why bother. Most of the deli food contains non organic ingredients or is made with non organic animal products I would guess because of the sticker shock. The worst problem I have had with this store over the last 10 years I have been shopping there is out of stock items. Just yesterday they were out of three items I was looking to buy. Keeping non perishable items in stock seems like it would be easy, just order more of the good stuff and make more shelf space for what people want but the management at this store has yet to figure it out. The employees who work at this store and most health food stores know little to nothing about health food/nutrition so do not expect them to carry everything you need or to assist you with your questions. I have lived in Escondido all my life and can only recall coming into this store once before when I was very young. But boy am I glad I came in today! After having very little success finding my two favorite brands of Coconut Water at two other stores, I decided to come in here with hopes that I could find at least one of them. Upon entering the store, I noticed it was well stocked, very tidy and organized. The temperature was perfect as well seeing as it was 100+ degrees outside. Its always a perk for me when the temperature in a store is comfortable. I wandered the aisles out of curiosity and noticed that they had quite the array of products and prices seemed very reasonable. I found the coconut water section with very little struggle and they had BOTH of my favorite brands Blue Monkey and Natural, and at great prices! Approx $2 a can. (I pay $2.99 at Ralph's for the same product). I was surprised at how slow it seemed for a Sunday afternoon. I went up to the front to check out and was the second in line. Before I knew it an associate came up and offered me to come to her aisle so I wouldnt have to wait for the other guest. She was very friendly and the check out process was quick and efficient. I was in and out of the store within minutes and left very happy with a full wallet and now a full bag of my Favorite Coconut Water. I will certainly be returning for my grocery shopping in the future! A+ read more
