As far as little mini marts go this place is pretty good. They have all of the typical liquor store stuff as well as some basic produce and butcher options. I bought a few of the $9.99/lb ribeyes and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I'll definitely be coming back for some groceries when I don't feel like running into town. read more

Went in to grab some essential items for the house. They are breaking down Costco toilet paper and re-selling it for 6.99 for 6 rolls and they are doing the same for other toilet paper products way to price gouge. Then wanted to grab some ice cream again they raised the prices, way to rip off the citizens of Valley Center. I'll definitely be going to Rite Aide to get the essential items since they don't mark up the prices. This is definitely the place to go if you want to Overpay for items. There are better stores to go to in Valley Center. read more

This little shop is on Valley Center Road near the United Oil gas station. It's a little small so you pass accidentally pass it up. The parking lot is small and tight. I went in the nighttime and it was a little sketchy. I recently went there looking for a drink called SakTea. The SakTea website said this store carried the drink. The owner said they didn't have it. Well, there are a LOT of other alcohol choices. Alcohol on alcohol on alcohol! There are other things here too like medicine and baby stuff. If you need something really quickly and can't drive down the mountain to Escondido , you may find it here. It's more expensive than grocery stores though. read more

I stopped in to get some marinated carne and chicken for dinner. I've never shopped here before. The store seemed ok, and the folks seemed friendly enough. Slightly dirty though. Unfortunately, the beef and chicken had to be the worst I've ever encountered. The beef was mostly gristle and extremely tough. The chicken was just as bad. My husband and I attempted a few bites, but it all had to be thrown away. A waste of my grilling time and money. Do NOT buy the meat or chicken here. You will be sorely disappointed. read more

Convenient, staff is friendly, they have a pretty good selection of produce, meats, other grocery items and alcohol.

The good: It is close and the beer is cold. The bad: hold your nose. This place STINKS and is filthy and gross. Flys everywhere including inside food cases. You have to dust off anything you buy here. For god sake if you are going to sell good to people clean your store. It seems many business owners in valley center have no pride in their businesses. Now I know why when we moved here the neighbors refer to this place as the "stinky store". read more

The only reason I come to this establishment is solely for convenience. Male cashiers are extremely rude, are upset if one has a "microchip on their card" for credit or debit transactions! I feel mark ups on various transactions under ten dollars an irritant and a miserly ordeal. They are definitely over priced! Someone told me that they have some of the best beef in town from local sources so I stopped one night and bought some porterhouse steaks. The best I've had in ages. So tired of what is offered in chain grocery stores these days. You can barely chew it. Anyway, I plan to go back soon and stock up on beef - they have good prices too. read more

Decent store. it is true what some of the other reviews have said in regards to the prices they charge. everything is at least a dollar or two extra. They do have good prices on meats and deli items. This place has everything- it's very convenient. What I love about it is the atmosphere. It has been here for as long as I can remember and gives a unique taste for nonconformist society these days. I really hate to see the negative reviews here...but I think (hope) that most local folks realize that VC Foods is a great place... the meats are fabulous and reasonably priced, and you can't beat the Deli sandwiches. They are still only $4.99 and plenty big enough to split! Wine lovers should be happy that there is a HUGE selection, at all prices. They manage to pack a lot into that little store...not every price is competitive with the big stores down the hill, but nothing is going to break the bank. We're a small town here, and this little store has been serving us for many years! read more

It's a great place to shop I find there meat price better than the supper market and they have better service in there meat dept. the staff is always friendly . Now there beer prices are always lower than the big stores and its nice to know I can get what I need without having to drive an hour back and forth to town that's the best thing about having this store here in our little town. read more
