They make everything in the kitchen and have the best poppyseed pasta and broccoli salad ever. I also just discovered North Park Rumble, a mix of roasted sweet potato, kale, curry and soy sauce. Left in hold 5 min, bottom line they don't need my business. Several times I've ordered sandwiches and had them forget to make them. After swearing I'd never go back I decided to give them one more shot and call in an order on Friday...they left me on hold for 5 minutes and I decided that was my sign that they just don't need my business...Trader Joe's is more than happy to have me shop there and if I am craving a veggie sandwich signature deli makes a great one and are always happy to see me. read more

Also best selection of GMO free food, I think they need more of these down south, as we are moving back to central sd very soon.. This is the store I will miss the most. I frequent Jimbo's in 4S Ranch and Escondido about 4x each week. It seems the service and quality has gone down in both locations. While in 4S, all the granola bins were empty, the salad bar was empty and I had to wait a long time at the deli for help. Today, I went to Escondido location and waited a long time to be served at the deli, and when I ordered some cole-slaw I told the server it didn't look right. He reassured me that it was made yesterday so I bought a little. Unfortunately, when I tasted it, it was rotten. I also got some chicken salad. The chicken was not edible, it was very chewy. I did get my money back on these 2 items. I am very disappointed in the lack of quality and service. I am not sure how often I will go back. read more

This is my favorite place in the world, I could eat every meal here. It's not always packed like the other locations. They have such an amazing amount of ready to eat vegan food. WAY more than any other healthy grocery store I've been to. They have amazing vegan desserts and hot food. I love their sandwiches and the coconut curry vegetables. They have so many cold bottled beverages, most stores only have select cold choices. The best place to get any meal if you are vegan. Always tons of options for vegans, I feel at home here. Way better than whole foods, trader joe's, henry's, frazier farms, and sprouts. I wish I lived next door to it. read more

I bought a Thanksgiving precooked turkey meal from their Holiday menu and was hugely disappointed. The turkey was OK but the mashed potato, yam and stuffing were horrible. Especially the yam and stuffing were watery and had this sickening taste in them. Will not buy another Holiday meal from this place. read more

My family went completely organic in late 2012 and Jimbo's has been a Godsend. Any time I need some obscure, organic ingredient that I can't get at Sprouts or other health stores I know Jimbo's will not disappoint. The Escondido location is our favorite, though it takes us nearly 30 minutes to get there. It's worth it for us though. My kids love all of the smoothies and my husband and I get the mochas (or iced mochas) every time we go; it's a treat to be able to get coffee while we're out because we don't drink any conventional coffee. I only wish they had a location closer to Vista! Going to Escondido or Carlsbad is kind of far for us. That is my only complaint. Excellent store, kindest cashier, Julian Apple Pies for $13.45 (incredible), quiche to die for, cous cous deli salad divine, baba foods dips around $3.50, homemade soups, Charlie's Best Bread....really a wonderful store with goodies in all price ranges. So nice seeing they support local companies, it's very apparent. Creative variety at fair prices imo. Will definitely be back! P.S. Plenty of parking :) read more

So, about a year and a half ago I swore off Jimbo's after a cashier yelled at me after he opened a new checkstand and I absent mindedly moved into his line (I guess he had already asked another customer to come over from the line first). I nearly cried because he was such a major douche to me. Jimbo's redeemed itself after I swore off evil commercially farmed meat. I had resigned myself to not eating meat any time soon when my husband explored their meat counter and a very friendly butcher introduced him to their humanely raised meat options. Well, Jimbo's has found itself in my heart again and we regularly pop in for their delicious hot and cold deli items, humanely raised meats, vegetarian offerings and generally just the general selection that they offer. Jimbo's definitely isn't the cheapest grocery store on the block but I'd rather send my dollars their way than to Whole Food's and their awful agenda. Go Jimbo's! read more

The service at the Juice Bar was below average and not acceptable for the rates they are charging you. We walked up to the counter and there was a Hispanic older heavier woman working the counter. She was finishing up another persons order. We walked up to the counter and waited. She did not acknowledge us, but when another customer walked up after us she greeter her excitedly. It seemed that the other person was a regular here as she asked for her usual. Another person behind the counter took our order and placed it on the counter for her. She made our Breakfast Bowl (that was not good- there were huge chunks in it) and a fresh juice and left it on the counter without eye contact or a greeting. We would have left after she didn't take our order first, but we had driven all the way here on a Sunday morning just to try their Juice Bar out. We won't be back. read more

I really like Jimbo's. I've been shopping @ this location for about 8 years now. cons: *pricing (sigh) is in the same range as Whole (paycheck) Foods. That said, they are a local small business that supports local, organic farmers- so they are focused on quality, and I do feel the quality of items I buy from Jimbo's are worth what they charge. pros: *Their produce is often local and organic from small farmers, and top-notch. Very fresh with exceptional texture and flavor. Aside from farmer's markets, the best produce IMHO is found here. Their produce department is a consistent winner. They have a very solid selection of the basics and occasionally have unusual veggies to try. Whole Foods has a better cheese department and their produce section included more unusual and exotic veggies and fruit- but in terms of quality, I LOVE Jimbo's produce department. *What I DO love here is their deli. If I'm looking for a delish vegetarian meal, I make my way to their deli to try something. You pay what you get for. A bit more pricier than other delis, but the quality is top-notch. Quality ingredients where I can consistently taste the difference. Their pastries have been a real hit or miss- BUT really do like their New York Cheesecake. It's not cloyingly sweet as many NY Cheesecakes can be, with a slight taste of honey. I really like it. *Their meat department is also top-notch. I'm not vegetarian, although I *prefer* to eat vegetarian most of the time. The few times where I want to cook meat, I always make my way to Jimbo's. I have been completely delighted with the quality of meat (often local and free range, if not organic) they carry, from chicken to pork to beef. I love and shop Jimbo's for their deli, meat and produce department. For other grocery needs, I tend to shop Trader Joe's. read more

Their sandwiches are sooo awesome, and they have some good vegetarian/vegan options as well. I order sandwiches from their deli for meetings at work, and everyone is always a fan of whatever I get. My only complaint is the service can be inattentive at times. Once, I had placed an order for 10 sandwiches, and when I got there expecting them to be ready they had "forgotten" to even start making them! I appreciated the scramble to get them ready quickly, but it was still annoying since you expect these things to go smoothly. Also - they have a problem of recognizing that at lunch time, you should probably have more than one cashier open.... but hopefully they'll grow out of that. read more

Keep in mind that I am a former Whole Foods employee and private chef when you consider my review. I have some high standards, and this store is by far my favorite place to buy food! Before I talk about the food though, I'd like to add that I have some musculoskeletal pain issues, and the small size of the store makes it much easier on my body than the larger stores. Also, when I am done shopping and my shoulders, neck, and back are screaming, with the blink of an eye they will get you someone to not just pack your items, and load them in your car, but to unload them from the cart so they can be rung up to begin with. If three customers are in line they open up another lane quickly. There staff goes to great lengths to assist their customers, overall show a high level of knowledge about their products (or get a co-worker who does), and everyone has a very positive kind of happy to serve vibe which is rarely seen in most grocery stores. Jimbo's is where you go to get great organic fruits and vegetables for a reasonable price. Their is no smug factor there with either the staff or the clientele. There is almost always a special on one variety or another of many items (berries, apples, greens, etc.) and they carry more local, seasonal produce than anyone else in town. That really helps when you have to watch your money, but don't want to compromise on taste or get exposed to pesticides. Also, in comparison I have in desperation bought organic fruits at places like Vons. At Von's the fruits are always bigger in size and costlier, while low on natural flavor. Their butcher actually butcher's (cuts meats, makes sausages, etc) rather than just offering you prepackaged stuff that's shipped in from a central processing facility. Their salad bar has lots of really fresh options. I can assemble a salad on one day and still find it fresh 4 days later. Their soups, especially the African Harvest are outstanding. Same for their prepared foods - Quiches, North Park Rumble Salad, sandwiches. Their loose bin dried food offerings are almost all organic and very reasonably priced. It's good value and their housemate granola cereal is addictive. They sell herbs and spice loose so you only purchase what you need ( and the balance lose potency as it ages in your cupboard. The vitamin/supplement/medicine section has staff that know their products and are quick to point out the best priced products for my families needs. I buy 90% of our families food at this store. They are also are very fair and generous in their return policies if you happen to have a problem or are dissatisfied with an item. Even if I didn't live in town ( like I do now), I would always still drive up to this store to shop. They are worth it! read more

I really liked the deli in Jimbos. I have mostly tried some of their sandwiches - a "texas" something- and some of their salads. Nice thing is they let you try samples of the salad before you buy it to ensure that you will like it. The prices on a lot of the items in Jimbos is overly expensive though I feel. I shop here regularly because they have the best selection of organic produce around, much of it from local sources. Not everything is good all the time, but since they have such a wide selection, I can always find something that is good. They have a great selection of other "healthy" items too. Deli counter/premade dishes - I occasionally get food at the deli counter because they are always coming up with different dishes and I like to try new things. Some stuff is good, but I've found most tend to be on the bland side. Meat counter - I don't know how this is now. In the past, years ago, I've had some bad experiences with getting old meat and seafood, and I never bothered to trying again after that. read more

I really want to like this place. But eh. I read Anna V.S.'s review and could basically copy and paste hers. So first the good parts: They have a good selection of organic and local. The prepared food is decent if you are in a hurry and need lunch or a snack. things I cannot stand: 1. the diary case. They are routinely out of a large number of items that I buy. It's hit or miss and their inventory management process needs help. The supply is just too erratic. 2. The customer service is mediocre at best. While trying to find someone to help me with my dairy case issue above, I made the mistake of asking the woman in the beauty product area if she could find someone to help me. (already knowing she has issues, I did not ask her to help me directly but thought perhaps she could assist in locating someone). "That's really not my area." was the reply. WTF? So I had to make a scene and get the manager, all worked out, but why is that necessary? 3. On multiple occasions when I have asked for help with the diary case, I have been told that what is out on the shelf is all there is. Yet when I have asked someone to look in the back, there is always more. BTW, when I do ask, I get the huffy sigh, like I am asking for kidney or something. Again, not I should not have to fight to get people to do their jobs. I am with Anna VS on Major Market. Yum! I'm not a rabbit, vegan, or vegetarian but the deli was delicious. I'm trying to eat more vegetables. The cauliflower enchilada was superb. The quality of the vegetables shines through. I had the raw vegetable medley and I was amazed at the flavor. You should try this place out whether you are; vegan, vegetarian, omnivore, or rabbit. read more
