I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

My appointment was for 9:15 this morning, but I actually got there a little earlier and was greeted right away by Eddie. He checked me in, took my information, and got everything set up. Super cool guy... really sweet and easy to talk to. We had some good conversation while getting everything handled. He did let me know the deal I saw didn't apply to the specific tires I needed, which was totally fine. I decided to just replace my two front tires for now and come back in a couple weeks to do the rear ones. Honestly it worked out because I didn't want to spend too much money on a car I hate anyway I also got a wheel alignment and Eddie even hooked me up with a little discount for that, which I really appreciated. I swear this was the fastest tire change and wheel alignment I've ever had done. Julio handled the wheel alignment and Jose did the tire install, and they had me in and out in less than 30 minutes. First and foremost, the customer service I received from start to finish was second to none. The moment I walked in, I was instantly greeted and welcomed for visiting the shop. I explained to the sales rep that my tire sensors were not functioning and, as a result, I was unable to verify when my tires needed air. I also wanted to have my tires inspected because I noticed extensive wear on all four. The sales rep advised me to give him a couple of minutes and that he would be right with me, and left the office. I waited at the counter for four minutes when the sales rep returned and advised me, "Yes, you are definitely going to need four new tires." What! He inspected my tires? How did he know what I drove?? The sales rep mentioned that I came in two months before having my tires properly inflated, and he remembered that I drove a grey-colored pickup. UNBELIEVABLE memory! Wow, I was truly impressed, as I was not the only customer in the shop, and there were other pickups parked in the lot. I was quoted a fair price for a set of new tires, as I had received quotes from three other tire shops, and this shop beat them all by a wide margin. I was also quoted $35.00 per sensor, the lowest price I found, and $20.00 less than any other shop for a wheel alignment. I was extremely happy with the quote for the entire package and decided to have all the work and new tires installed in this shop. I was advised that it would take three to four hours to complete all the work, which I happily agreed to. I left the shop and went home. Two and a half hours later, I received a text message stating that my truck was ready for pickup, as all the work had been completed. I could not believe the lightning-fast service I had received. Within ten minutes, I was on the ship picking up my truck with new tires, and I was extremely satisfied. I've been a returning Tucker Tire customer since the 1990s; it is no longer the trustworthy and…read morereliable co. of the past (sold out to large corp.; majority of the Tucker family had retired). 1st visit: I brought in 4 brand new tires (ordered online) to be installed on our 20 yr. old Toyota family vehicle. Salesman Steve indicated that my TPMS sensors (8 yrs. old) need to be replaced at $45 each (including the full size spare). I said I'll order new ones myself, and Scott quoted me $140 for installation and balance of 5 tires, 5 new TPMS sensors (ordered my own), and relearn the new sensors which was acceptable. 2nd visit: Tucker installed the 4 road tires and TPMS but wouldn't install the new TPMS on the OEM (20 yrs. old) barely used (tire covered) spare with nearly full treads due to liability concerns. They quoted me $143 on a new off brand tire but I decided to order my own tire. 3rd visit: new Spare tire and TPMS installed and Jeff (?) told me sensors all set to go. I started my vehicle and the TPMS warning light was still on. I informed the worker at the cashier's counter and he immediately went to reset/relearn all 5 new TPMS (2 attempts but he completed it). Each visit was 1-2 hrs. wait which didn't bother me because I have days off but what's disturbing was the lack of honoring upfront price quotes, inability to inform the need to replace functional, old spare, attempts to sell overpriced new TPMS sensors and spare tire, and deliberate attempt to skip resetting/relearning the new sensors and assuring me they were all set. BEWARE: get written price quotes up front, keep your invoice, and make sure the TPMS warning light is off before leaving!
