I didn't want anything too heavy for lunch. I ordered the Tex Mex eggrolls. Chili's Southwest eggrolls used to be my favorite, but these are my fave now. The egg rolls are crispy, light, and not greasy. I ordered the appetizer and it's enough to share or make two meals out of it. I have been going to Jimmy Changas and Gringos ever since they were small operation in Pearland! Today at Jimmy Changas in Pasadena was the worst service and food we ever had! The four hostess were busy talking to each other too great us when we walked in. When we interrupted the girl seating people she was beyond rude. The young lady that took us to the table apologized for her. (We have all been young once, but don't throw an attitude when you have to do your job). Our little waitress was very new and the poor thing didn't know the menu and lost her pen to take our order. It only gets worse from there it took us 40 minutes to get our COLD food that tasted horrible! Soggy nachos and taquitos! The enchilada was another story!!! Visiting family from Dallas and came in for a very late lunch on a Saturday. The first thing I want to say is that I felt like I needed a winter coat. Brrr! With that thought, as a slow eater, I knew my food would get cold fast. I was tempted to order a salad just knowing that but we opted to start w/queso w/meaty beef chunks. Their Salsa Verde is not as tasty as Johnny Tamales but the queso dip made up for it... was the hit of the meal for me! SO GOOD! Entrees ordered were Beef Fajita Tacos (3) with homemade flour tortillas, Dirty Tostadas (2), I tried one of each of a Fish and a Shrimp Taco. The beef was very tender and well spiced. The tostadas were piled high and were very refreshing. The seafood tacos were each wrapped in foil so they kept the tacos warm longer. We enjoyed our meals very much. I took my brother out for dinner to celebrate his birthday. Our service was excellent despite an unusually busy Monday night. Preston did an outstanding job checking on our table while training a new server. The food was delicious and well prepared. The atmosphere is casual which works well with the area and food offerings. The to go server Arely was very welcoming and nice given it was five minutes until closing. The tres leches was delightful. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and they were good. I would say 4/5 stars. I really liked the sauce and the chicken was good quality. My girlfriend ordered the Al Pastor Bowl and thought it was good. The meat was a little dry though. The restaurant was really nice and pleasant to be in. The service was nothing special. The food was slightly over priced in my option especially considering the portions sizes were kind of small. Over all I would give this restaurant about a 3.4. Mediocre tex mex at best. Much better restaurants just a little further north on center street. Service is always slow, but kids love the playground outside is the absolute only reason we get pulled into coming back. Last time waited 25 minutes for 2 margaritas, had to leave the table and go to the bar and order. Wasnt even that busy. Time before that food took 45 minutes and my plate was cold. People go for the ambience and the playground, if someone tells me its their "go to" or "favorite" place around here, they havent seen much. read more

My meal looked nothing like the photos they upload. The beef steak was so tuff I couldn't even eat. Whatever they pretend to be is not what you are likely to get. Finally got to spend an evening with friends. We went to Jimmy Changas in Pasadena, where we promptly got seated and Bledsoe waited on us. We couldn't have been served better. He was friendly, jovial, and saw to it that we were not rushed. Everyone we encountered was friendly. I've been in restaurants that feel like the employees resent the customers. The employees at this location is not that way. They seem to like their jobs and want the customers to enjoy their time and meal at Jimmy Changas. We're regulars at this restaurant weekly and Tex-Mex Insider card members. Today was a disappointment. Our waiter seemed to be "out of it" for some reason. He never brought us the two small plates we needed for our Gorilla Peppers so we had to wait and wait as our Peppers got cold then flagged down a manager to bring us two small plates. Also we never got any refills on our tea drinks! In addition, we had to wait and wait and wait for the waiter to bring us our tab to pay so once again I had to flag down a manager for our tab. First time here in awhile. Was greeted by hostess with smile and friendly hello. Got seated and barely got drink orders in and was asked if we wanted appetizers. Heck we had not even had a chance to look at menu yet. Our drink orders arrived after about 10 mins. Then waitress came by to get our food orders. We got that completed and began the wait. After about 45 mins we got our food and only part. My son ordered fajitas and received no tortillas so once we got the reminder of food we asked for them. Came to Jimmy Changas for lunch during the week. We were very surprised to see no lunch menu offered. It was busy with plenty of seating still available. We ordered the beef fajitas for two and it was very underwhelming. Fajitas didn't come out hot (or sizzling) and beef wasn't flavorful. Tried a few drinks and nothing stood out. They seemed understaffed, as the drinks took 20+ minutes to come out. Ended up finishing lunch down the street to get better drinks. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a stench. Very offputting of somewhere anyone would want to eat. But still, I gave the place a chance, so I went to the to-go order location to place my order since I was not dining in. After placing my order, I went to use the restroom. And it became apparent to me that the odor in the restaurant was coming from the restroom. The restrooms reeked!! In addition to this, the food was mid, at best. I can't say how pleased I am with the service we got from Jimmy Changas. We had business meetings for four straight days and two of those days we had them cater for 20 people with the most fantastic spread you can ask for. Fresh tortillas, beef Carne, spicy chicken, enchiladas, rice, peppers onions fresh guacamole sour cream ice tea everything you can think of they brought it. It was critical we impressed our customers and we were recommended by our colleagues in the ship channel do use them for catered events. The staff that delivered and set it up with passionate, courteous, efficient in and out and all the food was served in sealed aluminum pans to keep warm. What a night! A friend was retiring and we wanted to surprise her with dinner and drinks. Zakary Gibson had everything set up in the back room for 16 people with chips/sauces and escorted us to our seats. He asked if everything was good, we said yes, then he told us Paola Torres would be our waitress for the night. She had 5 different checks, we ordered drinks, they were awesome. She came back and took our orders, food was phenominal! Zak came by and checked on us many times to make sure everything was OK. Had the southwest egg rolls and gorilla peppers for an app. The egg rolls were pretty good but they didn't take the seeds out the peppers before stuffing them making them inedible. They were so spicy you can't even taste them, and we love spicy food. This just was terrible though. Got the Jimmy changa which had no cheese in it and wasn't cooked long enough to be crispy so it was soggy. Overall not impressed. read more

I've been here three or four times over the last four years, and it is always on point. We had to wait on friends on the most recent visit. Even though we were seated promptly, no one made feel unwelcome for taking a big booth & having to wait so long. One criticism would be on the fajita queso - it was light on fajitas and heavy on pick. The pick literally ruined a good queso by watering it down & overpowering it with cilantro. I personally love the stuffed avocado - a whole avocado stuffed with fajita & cheese, lightly breaded, and fried. Utterly amazingly unique! Our server, Jacky, was prompt & efficient. If you are in the area, treat yourself to s unique experience and some creative offerings. The Big Daddy Chimi and Dirty tostadas are also great choices. read more

They need to get their water situation fixed. Because we used to go there all the time and now their water taste like chemical at one point they told us that it was the city of Pasadena. They said that it was levels of chlorine in the water.. but that's a lie because a month has passed and now another waiter told us that it's their filtration system. This is my husband's favorite Tex-Mex restaurant and it's close to our house making it even better. They have a good selection, of good food. There's a child's play area outside which you don't usually see in restaurants. They have outdoor seating which is pleasant about 2 weeks out of the year due to the Texas weather. I've been coming here for the last seven years while on business trips in the area. Tonight was probably the worst service I have received. I sat at the bar since I wasn't with anyone else, and was one of maybe six total people. After I finished my first drink, my glass sat empty for over five minutes. The bartender looked at me several times and just walked by. Apparently, the couple that walked in was more important to talk to (about issues with other servers) than taking care of the other patrons at the bar.
