Let me start by saying: I love Jimmy John's sandwiches. I used to work at a franchise in Columbus for nearly two years, both as an inshop and a manager, so I know this business inside and out. But this particular location on Court Street? It's a joke--and not the funny kind. I get cravings for these subs maybe two or three times a year, and without fail, there's a 50/50 chance they're out of bread. Bread. The foundation of the entire menu. How does a sandwich shop not have bread? That's like a gas station with no gas. And don't get it twisted--I'm not blaming the workers. I know what it's like behind the counter. I've put in thousands of hours at Jimmy John's and can count on one hand the number of times we ran out of bread. You know why? Because we had competent management. Managers who understood basic prep, who knew how to run a store, who didn't let the place fall apart daily. The fact that this keeps happening means one thing: the management at this location is either completely checked out or totally incompetent. You don't get to say you're "freaky fast" when customers are standing around for 30 minutes waiting on basic prep that should've been done hours earlier. At this point, walking by and not seeing a "We're out of bread" sign feels like a miracle. If I'm this frustrated only showing up a couple times a year, I can't imagine how fed up regular customers must be. The food is great--but none of that matters if the manager can't do the absolute bare minimum to keep the store functioning. Fix it. read more

They didn't have a toaster for the sandwich's which I thought was weird. But the costumer service we had was more then worth it this is because they offered us free drinks when we ordered and also free brownies on our way out which was really kind of them even though that's probably not allowed. I highly recommend this place over the other sandwich shops even though I'm not the biggest fan of jimmy John's but if you're looking for kind service and maybe free stuff if you're lucky this is the place for you read more

Not freaky fast...just freaky... and disappointing. Ordered three subs via the app and drove to pick them up. There is ONE guy working. Order is not ready. I wait. One of my subs has turkey, provolone, and avocado. I added bacon. He informs me he doesn't have any turkey so he made my turkey sub with ham. To add insult to injury when I finally do get home with my subs he forgot the bacon! I know they are struggling to find employees and it's not the fault of this poor guy who was stuck working, but if you can't make a turkey sub with bacon at a Jimmy Johns you need to just close for the night. read more

I love Jimmy John's sandwiches. I have eaten here for years. But my last three visits have been terrible. The place is dark, they don't have lights on behind the counter, it is dirty, no filthy. A lot of the kitchen equipment and boxes are piled into the booths in the dinning area. And what used to be fast and friendly service is no longer. I tried to provide feedback on the company sight, but they require lots of personal Information from you just so you can tell them that they have a problem. My friend came from OSU to visit for fest. We went to jimmy johns and they were out of bread and said they would be up and running in a few hours. We called and asked if we were good to order from the app and they said yes (they had bread finally). We ordered at 10:20pm and had to call 4 times to check the status. This used to be one of my favorite late night choices in Athens. Until one fateful night.... I was grabbing some 2:30 AM subs with friends when I notice something weird about the glove on the guy prepping subs across the counter. His glove appeared red. I didn't understand what I was seeing, obviously quite a few drinks in being past 2 AM. I kept looking and it was a dark red, and looked a lot like blood...filling his glove?! I thought it was impossible and I was most likely seeing things. I kindly asked the cashier as she handed back my card about the worker's glove. She said "Oh, yeah, he cut himself pretty bad on our meat slicer earlier. He had it bandaged but it kept leaking. He has a glove on though." My mouth dropped. An employee, with BLOOD gushing from his hand so fast that it literally filled his entire right glove, was making our subs. Most people were too drunk or distracted by friends to even notice. I like Jimmy Johns. Really like em. In fact, they're one of my favorite chain lunch locations. My fave sando is the beach club with extra turkey and tomatos on their whole grain bread. Good lord, they are not joking when they say freaky fast. I was staying in a hotel on east state where I placed my delivery order. I timed it. 7 minutes and 14 seconds from the second I hung up the phone to when they knocked on my hotel door. I was throughly impressed, from that as well as the quality of the food. If I could give it zero stars I would. I ordered a BLT and got stale crusty bread, overwhelmingly salty bacon. Three thin slices of roma tomatoes - oops! one of those slices was a pointy end of the tomato about the diameter of a quarter. My grandson ordered the turkey which I then paid $1 extra for cheese which we discovered after we got home was skipped. My daughter ordered a specialty turkey sub that was supposed to have avocado. This was her choice of where to eat and she had to open the sub and dig around to find it. I will never eat there again. The bill was almost $18 (subs only, no drink or extras as it was eaten at home). I was gouged. read more

I don't know what the staff are like during the day shift, but last night the men working here were extremely rude and unprofessional. Apparently they ignore their customers (in the same room) for 15+ minutes and then ask "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" when they finally acknowledge your presence. Quiznos was closed and Avalanche pre-makes their sandwiches so Jimmy Johns was the only other option I could think of. I recommend going to Kroger and buying your own bread, meat, veggies, etc instead of giving Jimmy John's in Athens your money until they hire better staff. read more

My favorite is a veggie - cheese and mayo for vegan style, extra avocado, dijon mustard, extra lettuce, extra tomatoes and their signature fresh bread too. Sandwiches are Excellent. Service is alright. Recently "corporate" decided to cut out about 1/2 of their delivery area because it wasn't within "2 miles of the store." I clocked it on my way home, they stopped at 1.5 miles and i live less than a 1/4 of a mile from the cut off point. Their "line" also removed about 1/2 of the faculty/staff at Ohio University that live in Athens. These are people who live there year round and HAVE money to buy Jimmy John's regularly. I am not sure what brainiac came up with this new delivery area but it couldn't have helped their bottom line any. read more
