Late night on the weekends, Freaky Fast-style in Minny. Perhaps you're out drinking right now in downtown and you're wondering what's open. After a night of drinking having a Jimmy John's open until 3am on Friday and Saturday is a very good thing. There's plenty of places to drink down here late, but not quite so many to grab a late night bite to eat. And, this Jimmy John's gets the late night crowd. It reminded me of my college days, if I'm being honest. Late night, Midwestern drinking. Oh yeah, I really like Jimmy John's, as well. And, I'm pretty pleased when I can get Jimmy John's after several drinks and in the wee hours. The sandwiches are tasty in my book. I'm guessing most everyone reading this review has had Jimmy John's, but for those of you who have not I give them my endorsement. Jimmy John's is no gourmet spot. Simple sandwiches, good ingredients, unique taste. I like the fact that the bigger size means more meat. I like the chewy flavorful French Bread. I think the Tomatoes are always red and crisp and that the Lettuce is green and shaved thin. They get the spread of Mayo just right (although, there's nothing wrong asking for extra). A couple of tips: *You have an option of French Bread or Sliced Wheat. Go French. *#1-6 have less meat. #7-17 have about a 1/4 lb of meat (double). The Gargantuan has a triple load. *#7 Gourmet Ham is a terrific sandwich. Love the flavor of the Ham, Provolone, Lettuce and Tomato, and Mayo. Simple, classic and awesome. *Open after bar close means that there will be drunk people. It being the Midwest will mean that those drunk people are uninhibited and let those around them know how they feel the rest of the time when they aren't drunk and are super reserved. You betcha! *I guess these guys deliver to all the business around here during the day and have bike messengers. Jimmy John's is billed as Freaky Fast for delivery. *It's centrally located around a lot of downtown bars. (And, my hotel last visit) BTW - Lotta haters of this Jimmy John's on Yelp. Have the Minnesota rules changed since I left? What happened to repressed Minnesota nice, for crying out loud? Or, does Yelp serve as an outlet for saying all the things you wished you would have said in person but instead you just looked stoic and were slightly curt? I got what I expected at Jimmy Johns on a Wednesday afternoon. The staff was attentive, helped us right away. Sandwiches were made exactly right. They were good, but JJ always is. This location was very clean, which is great for a busy, downtown area. In fact we were there at 1:30 and they were cleaning tables and mopping the floors. Plenty of staff. I counted 9 included a few delivery people. Everyone was busy and working. Not goofing around. I work just 2 blocks away and it's nice having a clean, dependable, reasonably priced place to go for lunch. read more

Thanks, Me Speaking as a guy who moved here less than 6-months ago, this place is amazing. Solid fresh food done incredibly incredibly quick. It's great, happy Jimmy Johns is doing well as evidence by their many many locations -- great news. But they need to get their shit together. I ordered a sub just now for lunch which had mayo on it in the description on the board, and I wanted everything on it except the mayo, I wanted oil&vinegar instead. So I walked up and said "I'd like a number 14 without mayo, and instead oil&vinegar please." Herein lies the issue -- with how quick JJ (yeah, I ate here, I can call it JJ if I want to) is, as I am speaking the words "number fourteen" the girl making the sandwich already has her spatula in the mayo and has dropped it on my sub. "Is that sandwich mine?" I asked as I pointed to what I just saw. "No." "Okay, because I don't like mayo. Thank you." As I got my receipt from paying, my sub was called at the other end of the counter -- I think it's incredible how quick these guys can turn out a sub. There is zero wait for the most part. Always a good thing. I walked back to my office. Unwrapped the sub, and yes yes my lovely Yelpers, you guessed it, the fuckers flat out lied to me and the sandwich I asked about was in fact my sandwich. Complete with mayo. Now I don't hate mayo, I would just prefer not to eat it. So understand that if I hated mayo this would be a 1-star review. The sandwich was good, I've had it before, but I like it better with oil&vinegar and not mayo. Due to the food being good, I'll post this as 2-stars as I'll definitely be back. Jimmy Johns -- slow the hell down. We all think it's cool that you turn out a sub as quick as you do. I think it's cool and I just moved here, you have won me over. You have a faithful following who would sing your praises much more loudly if you just slowed down and heard the entire order before you began the sandwich construction like a robot. My advice to you is to keep doing everything you're doing, your food is good, but please slow down. We can all wait a minute, and in your case a few seconds, for our order to be 100% correct. We'd actually prefer it to be correct and wait, than to have it be wrong and quick. The next time I go into a Jimmy Johns and want a sandwich that needs some altering, I'll be sure to preface my order with "I would like to change something on the sub" so I have their attention. As they say, Jimmy Johns prides themselves as being "freaky fast". Unfortunately, my experience was more freaky than fast. My order of one sub and a bag of chips was confirmed via email at 4:55PM. 40 minutes rolls by and I'm contemplating whether to call the shop to verify my order. I decided to hold off as I'm sure a lot of businesses are busy with deliveries due to the current pandemic. I received a call at 5:59PM from who I assumed was the driver letting me know that she's 5 minutes away and asked if it was ok to drop the delivery off at the front door. I agreed to the contactless delivery method. A car pulled up in front of my employer with a driver and passenger, which the passenger delivered the order. Besides the delay in the delivery, I'm unsure as to why my delivery driver has an assistant? Is this a thing? Unsure. My sub was room temperature to warm and soggy - I did not eat it. I have always had some mild obsession with Jimmy Johns ever since I tasted one of their delicious subs with that addictive bread and someone lied to me and convinced me it was partially owned by Mitch Hedberg. Yes, I thought Mitch owned the savvy and witty chain and therefore I loved it more.... Even though the lie came to light and I realized it was just another sub chain, my love for their tasty bread and funny advertisements continued my loyal customer relationship with them. This location however seems to have a major case of Bipolar disorder. Some days I have a beautiful delivery driver arrive freaky fast with my order in brown-bag perfection. Other days I have slow service, rude operators that are convinced I live out of their jurisdiction and half of my order not arriving in the bag at all. On the good days, I love most all of their sandwiches. Their tasty tuna is indeed tasty, their hunter always has great meat and the lettuce is rarely wilted and slimy. Though the ingredients are usually fresh and mostly the deliver is freaky fast (like 9 minutes!) Excellent service at this Jimmy John's. They really take their business seriously. I coordinate many lunches at my job, both large and small, and it's nice to know we can always count on this Jimmy John's to get our order perfect every time. I've never received an order that has not been right. What's totally amazing is that I've had orders with several platters and chips, and these orders arrive with the same amount of time as a single sandwich would. Yesterday topped all of the experiences I've had. I received a lunch request during the meeting, as they forgot to order the lunch, and I called JJ and the manager agreed to make 8 box lunches on the fly if I could come and pick them up, and they would run them out to my car so I wouldn't have to park. Completely amazing service. I like ordering JJ as they satisfy every dietary need: unwiches for the carb free person, vegetarian and vegan options, too. Everyone loves their chips, too. The only feedback I've heard is that their cookies aren't that great as a JJ corporation, not just at this location. I've never had one, so I can't comment. So glad this location exists. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would have. I waited 2.5 plus hours for my delivery of 1 sandwich, only to be told by the driver that my sub had been sitting out on the counter (non-refrigerated) waiting to be picked up. When I spoke to the manager she offered to refund my 11.00$ order, gee thanks. When I asked for some sort of compensation for my troubles, and HUNGER, she was less than accommodating. In the end, a few days later I did get a 10.00$ credit, but I'm still waiting for the refund. I will spend my credit and never come here again, even after being a loyal customer since opening. Easily the worst jj's experience I've ever had, and potentially one of the worst restaurant experiences period. I walked in and placed my order with no issues - the cashier read my order back to me and it was 100% correct. There was one man and a group of three women in front of me also waiting for their sandwiches. After I was waiting for about two minutes, the man that was waiting for his sandwiches asked the employees where it was. The man behind the counter making sandwiches YELLED at him, "It's sitting RIGHT THERE, I've said it like 4 times!" First yikes. I waited as the women in front of me one by one got their sandwiches. The employees were moving at a pretty slow pace filling these orders as well as an obviously large online order, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt at this point that they are just overwhelmed. Eventually after waiting for about 5 minutes the cashier, who was now helping on the line, handed me a sandwich and a receipt. I told her I was still waiting for a second sandwich as well as a pickle. When she asked the other sandwich maker about it, he said he had made it already. Turns out they had given it to one of the women in front of me. She gave it back to me, they handed me my pickle and I figured I was good to go. I asked if I could have a bag for all of my stuff, and an employee pointed me to a stack of bags that was BEHIND THE COUNTER. Yes, I had to reach behind the counter to get my own bag. They have no idea the cleanliness of their customers' hands and they're allowing them to reach into their supposedly clean food prep space. Second yikes. As I was reaching for my bag, an employee asked me if the sub they accidentally gave to the other woman said #10 on it (I ordered a #12). I looked and it said nothing, to which he responded, "Oh." So I said, "Okay so is this really my sandwich or..." with no response. I took it back to a table and opened it up to see they had not added the hot peppers I ordered (which were on my receipt), but at this point there was a line of 6 more customers waiting to place their orders, so I decided to cut my losses and leave. When I got home I opened my pickle, which I had asked to be cut in fours, wasn't cut at all. Wouldn't normally be a big deal to me but after the crap show that was everything else about this experience, that was my third and final yikes. Just find a different JJ's to go to. Don't know how this place is in business. Ordered 16" turkey roast beef #14 they never asked what I wanted on it (should of been a clue) were making a catering order I believe while I was just standing there waiting no communication.I get my sandwiches go back to hotel open them up very little turkey no roast beef lettuce and mayo. I walk back to Jimmy Johns I explain I ordered turkey roast beef and only got turkey. Guy says nope ticket said #4 that's just turkey. Told the other guy to handle it. He said well if you pay for roast beef will add it on for you. The point is mistakes happen #4 instead of #14 even though I stated turkey roast beef sandwich but how they handled the problem was unacceptable. How they made the sandwich was unacceptable. As someone who travels around the country for work, I have been to many Jimmy John's across the nation and this is the worst service I have ever had at a Jimmy John's. The sandwiches are of Jimmy John's quality and I haven't been disappointed by the food like some of the other reviewers of this location. But I have had two experiences of flat out rudeness. The most recent was today. I called ahead on my way into work to place an order that I would then pick up on my way, which I have done numerous times before. I was told that I needed to order four or more sandwiches to place a delivery order. When I told the girl on the phone that I had ordered two sandwiches the last time and picked it up, she put me on hold and asked her manager. She came back and said the manager would not allow me to place my order and "that it wasn't busy so I should just come in to the store and wait for my sandwiches to be made." I didn't have time for that, so I went to work and grabbed a sandwich at McKenzie's, which was delicious and the service was great! read more
