Also their own fresh baked baguettes may be purchased. They've got a slightly firm crust, pillowy interior, and only four natural ingredients. They also carry condiments and jarred pickle type delicacies from small labels, chips and crunchables, and some drool-worthy housemade desserts. There's a secret color code on the label and I asked the girl at the checkout what days each color meant and she said she didn't know. That's a problem when you're dealing with no-preservative items. Lots of jarred pickle and preserve products to tempt your taste buds and all from small regional producers. In summer there's a fair amount of farm produce but nowhere near what you'd find at a farmers market. They have lovely seasonal potted flowers and of course the sturdy, handmade, bank-breaking Amish outdoor furniture. They sell a lot of things like frozen vegetables, baking mixes, spices, candy (huge amounts of candy), chocolate melts, in small bags with their own label. Unfortunately this stuff seems to be bought from big wholesalers. I have seen giant Sysco and GFS trucks in the lot. They use a weird dating system on these bagged goods- just a number where 15 would be January 15 and 360 would be December 26; get it? But you have no way of knowing if that means this year. Or last year, ick. So it's a mixed bag here. Not everything is going to be local or GMO-free. Look carefully before you buy.

No clue how long it took from ordering to being at our table but it was a bit of time. The sandwiches are okay. The bread on both sandwiches was way too hard to enjoy the actual sandwiches as a whole. Not a lot of meat. The soups... in a perfect world, your soup would be piping hot. Ours were actually unusually cold? Like they were straight out of the fridge and somebody forgot to microwave them to warm the up? I had never had matzo ball soup so I had to google if it was served cold like gazpacho or vichyssoise. So... for $40 with tip this was a bit egregious for me but hey... we finally tried it.

The standout to us were their donuts. We've had donuts from Florida to Vegas and states in between and theirs are quite possibly the best donuts we've ever had! I told her that if she purchased the cheddar brats that she would end up dreaming about them after they were gone. She called me a few days later after preparing them to tell me that I was right. The meat is affordable, the work area is extremely clean and they such a great variety of fresh meat. It feels like you're rewinding 30 years and going back to an old school deli. I have tried the hamburger mixed with bacon and cheddar, the cheddar brats and the ham salad. Whoa that ham salad it's not your cheap typical processed ham salad. From the freezer case I have also purchased the prepared lasagna they make in small individual servings that you can just pop in the oven yourself and it was great. There's such a cool variety of breaded mushrooms, hot wings and stuffed chicken breasts in the frozen section and things that you could take home for special occasions, parties or just when you want some special items that you typically won't find in a "normal" grocery store in bulk quantity. They also have freezer packs for set pricing where you can go in and buy a certain number of steaks, pork chops, pounds of fresh sausage or pounds of hamburger altogether in a package brown sack that you can just take home and stick in your freezer. I've also started purchasing gift cards here for family members and they always called to tell me thanks at least more than once because it's such a special experience.
