While staying in Lake Placid I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night, getting there around 6PM, they had a decent amount of people sat inside and on their back deck. I sat on the back deck, overlooking Mirror Lake and it was beautiful, especially in the summer evening. Menu is simple Italian with all the normal, popular Italian dishes, nothing really unique, but plenty of delicious options. I started with their meatball appetizer - They were very nice! The order comes with two huge meatballs that are very tender and nicely seasoned. The sauce was slightly light in flavor and not as thick as I would have liked, but still pretty good. Their table bread they brought out with it came with a very tasty olive oil that was seasoned with garlic and herbs. The bread was served warmed, slightly toasted and was great. Next up was their basic starter salad - this was pretty nice too. Dressing was good and veggies were fresh. My entrée was their Rigatoni Ala Vodka - This was really good. The flavors were perfect and the pasta was perfectly al dente. Overall, I thought dinner was great. Service was excellent and attentive too. A couple of our friends had shared that this was their favorite place to eat. I can see why. My friend and I sat at the bar. Both bartenders who were on that night were fantastic. They went above and beyond with their service. I have some unique food allergies and they were able to accommodate my dietary needs. I ended up getting the Chicken Alfredo Fettuccine. I would highly recommend Jimmy's 21 for lunch or dinner! Holy gluten free pasta! They have rigatoni gluten free pasta which I actually liked just as much as their homemade pasta (not GF unfortunately). They have indoor and outdoor seating wi the a beautiful view of the lake. The seating is broken up into sections and we sat on the porch which made for a quieter and more romantic dining experience. Staff was very try nice and helpful especially with allergies. July 2025: My husband and I were visiting the Adirondacks area and were walking the downtown strip in Lake Placid looking for a place to have dinner. My husband walked into Jimmy's and asked a gentleman working there if they had any reservations open. The place was PACKED on a Tuesday night. The man responded, "when do you want to come in?" My husband said "in 40 minutes?" The man responded, "see you at 7!" Turns out, the man was none other than Jimmy himself! We were seated at a table on the patio overlooking beautiful Mirror Lake. Came here on a Friday evening later around 9 pm. The workers were very kind. The inside is pretty and would have a nice view on the lake during the day. I ordered the French onion soup and fettuccini Alfredo. They were both good but nothing crazy. I thought the fettuccini Alfredo was a little overpriced at $23 with no protein at all. This is one of those restaurants you don't go to for the food. I'll start with the good; overall vibes were nice. We sat on the terrace with a nice view of Mirror Lake. Service was fast, and our server was nice. The food was pretty awful unfortunately. We got chicken marsala and lasagna. The chicken marsala was way too sweet, the chicken was too chewy, and the pasta was overcooked. The lasagna was tiny and obviously frozen and reheated. Even the bread we were served was not great. I keep revisiting only to be disappointed again. Service is good, but the food was not. The seafood melody came with fresh catch of the day, three scallops and three shrimp. It was swimming in a butter wine garlic sauce to the point you could not even taste the difference between the seafoods. There was an oily film to the fish and even after removing each piece to pat it dry, it just had no flavor except t for the butter garlic oiliness. The French onion soup was very high in sodium. What a good quality and family oriented/vibe Italian Restaurant. I highly recommend calling for a reservation due to how quickly the seats get filled and I understand why it's busy. The food tastes fresh and made with care. Their Burrata was the best thing I tasted since the last time I've been to Italy. If you are a big fan of ravioli and lobster, please get the lobster ravioli as it as delicious and melted like butter especially that sauce...exquisite. They gluten free pasta available that was incorporated with the bolognese sauce was literally one of the best bolognese we had in a long time. Despite it being busy, the service was consistently good and took care of everyone. We went for an early dinner on a very cold winter afternoon. We got seated by the back window with a heater next to my very cold feet and a view with of dog sled taking people for rides; it was so charming. We had a great meal at Jimmy's 21! The location right on the lake is beautiful, with lovely views if you sit out on the patio or near the windows. The menu has a wide variety of Italian favorites--our table especially loved the chicken parm and rigatoni a la Vodka. Disappointed. Have gone several times through the years and the only thing that we find to be consistent is the service is WONDERFUL across the board and the bread is always delicious. Most recent visit on 11/29/25; for entrees we ordered the special, which was supposed to be filet mignon & crab cake. The crab cake was pretty good, the *Meat* was definitely NOT filet mignon. It was some kind of steak. Not bad, but def not filet mignon & def not what they advertised. Also ordered the scallops, sadly also disappointing, a little fishy and not fresh at all. This restaurant is terrible! My friends and I were visiting with 5 kids, all around 8 years old, and we waited for 2 hours without getting our main courses! The manager claimed we didn't make a reservation, but we actually did, just not in advance. If they take reservations, they should be able to handle serving a party of 16, or at least warn us that we'd have to wait over an hour for our food. We arrived on time at 5:30 PM, and by 7:30 PM, still no main courses! The manager was awful, and I seriously suspect racial discrimination. The table next to us turned over twice while we barely got appetizers and drinks. This place gets a 1-star review, and I absolutely do not recommend at all!! The manger terrible! We loved Jimmy's so much we went there twice this weekend! The servers were amazing and so sweet with my son. The food was out of this world. I had the filet with the Gorgonzola sauce and it was to die for. My partner had the veal and it was also phenomenal. The appetizers were also delish, great cocktails (yay for blue cheese stuffed olives!!) and most importantly they have a proper espresso machine.They had a nice wine list. It was super busy both nights but we quickly were sat. The first night we were on the second floor seated in front of the windows with a beautiful view of the lights along Mirror lake. What a disappointment. First off the drinks, at a high-end place like this you would think they could squeeze some lemons for a whiskey sour, instead we got a premade mix. Now the food the veal was shaved as if it was on coming off a bottom round with a thick Deli slice I don't know if that qualifies as a veal cutlet and it certainly wasn't veal because you could barely cut it more like shaved Grizzle. We sat down and the girl came to give us water. Our waitress took our order, never asked about drinks. Our food was delivered.. I got the eggplant parm and lobster bisque soup. The soup was inedible! I've had a lot of lobster bisque all over the country and this was the worst lobster bisque I've ever had. It did not even taste like lobster bisque. And there was no lobster in it. It was almost like it was creamed soup the eggplant Parmesan was disgusting. The pasta, though it was homemade had very watery sauce and very bland. The eggplant Parm, was supposed to be fried, and it was soggy. We never once saw our waitress after she took our order. No one came to check on us no one asked us how our meal was. We checked out the menu and decided there was something for each one of us. We sat down and were immediately offered drinks and apps. They gave us warm crusty bread with olive oil infused with garlic and herbs. Delicious! We ordered the stuffed mushroom appetizer, the lobster bisque, linguini bolognese, salmon and chicken Parmesan. Busy night on a holiday weekend so we made a reservation. They seemed overwhelmed and did not seem to organize reservations and walk-ins well. I made sure they had our reservation name and we made ourselves visible, but still waited over 30 minutes to be seated! We were there in the evening, so no view of the lake, if you go in the day or early evening it's a beautiful view! Once seated the experience went better. Attentive, friendly service - lovely server who was quick and polite despite a full room, no table had less than 5-6 people. Food was good. Orders: eggplant parm, chicken parm, crispy half duckling, and shrimp fradiavolo. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Bread was delish and served with olive oil. LOVE this place! Jimmy's has many different types of seating available: indoor, outdoor patio (protected from rain), outdoor deck (not protected from rain). There are many flower pots around that decorate the restaurant and plays songs like Frank Sinatra in the background. We started our dinner with fried mozzarella and Jimmy's salad. Fried mozzarella had a delicious home made marinara sauce that we really enjoyed and the same flavor showed up when we had the delicious chicken parmigiana. Jimmy's salad was delicious with pear, arugula, cranberries and Gorgonzola cheese -- perfect mix of different flavors. Then I got the penne a la vodka with chicken and it didn't disappoint at all -- the sauce was really delicious and tasted home made. We wanted to also try tiramisu but they unfortunately didn't have any left. We love this place so much that we would come back just for the tiramisu. Service was also very welcoming and quick.
