Was in Lake Placid and stopped here for dinner. Blond lady at the counter was less than friendly but I stayed anyway. I ordered a pepperoni and onion pizza, a salad, and a kids chicken fingers and fries. I was told it would be 45 minutes and the place was empty. There was another younger lady bringing out the food and she was super friendly. Prices were ok but the pizza had very few pepperonis on it and really no onions. We got into town, checked into our motel, and did not want to go back out. The clerk at our motel recommended this place, and she was right on. We called for delivery, the person on the phone was very nice, and he said that the delivery would take 45 minutes to an hour. However, the delivery person was here within a half an hour. My partner had the chicken Parm sandwich, I had the meatball parm sandwich. . We both enjoyed them immensely. My partner said her chicken was tender and had good flavor, I say the exact same thing about the meatballs. They were tender and delicious. Both of the sandwiches had just the right amount of tomato sauce with a good flavor, and a good amount of ooey gooey cheese. The bread was just a little bit crusty, and delicious. Was in town for the Ironman race, ordered a pie to go. The pizza was not crispy at all but maybe that's my preference I like my slices well toasted at the bottom versus doughy. Cheese to sauce ration was pretty good even though I prefer a saucier pizza. I also order the buffalo chicken which was alright nothing to brag about. Ok, hear me out. Dining room could use a coat of paint, new floor, a cleaning and new furniture. Its very hodgepodge and uninviting for eating in. That said, the pizza was absolutely delicious and way better than when I had it for my last review. The crust is delicious with a consistency that was doughy but also crispy. The sauce was delicious (I always get extra sauce on pizza) and they did a good job with my request for only a light amount of cheese I also got the breadticks which are were basted in garlic oil and then covered in grated cheese. These were amazing... they didn't seem like they were just pizza dough baked into sticks. You can tell when places do this because the "breadstick" is harder and denser like pizza crust. The sticks I got on this visit where airy and risen and delicious. They were some of the best sticks I've ever had. I did add more grated cheese to them but there was a fair amount on them. The marinara dipping sauce was also very good. The woman and the guy cooking and running the show were very friendly albeit a little rough around the edges at times. The food came out hot and in a decent amount of time. My recent visit was pre-summer season so that may be why some things such as the fountain soda and main drink cooler were not operational. They still had a small fridge of cold cans of soft drinks so it was still fine. Pizza is highly recommended. read more

Chicken parmigiana: I'm kind of a pasta addict, I've had red sauce in about 100 places. This sauce is up there with the best I've ever eaten. They hand make it in-house and it shows. The chicken was big chunks of breast meat, perfectly breaded and cooked, my mouth is still watering two hours later. Served in a disposable aluminum takeout dish and I'd put this up against anyone else's. Really. Greek salad: so for me, Jersey diners are the mecca for reliably great Greek salads. We had exactly that just a few days ago in Jersey and it was as great and as fresh as you could hope for. Who knew that this humble little pizza joint in Lake Placid would be just as great? This is truly a little hole in the wall place, if you're expecting a whole lot other than good food, this isn't it. But man, the food was great. We got a white and a meat lovers pizza to go and it was some of the best pizza I've had in awhile and pretty cheap for the north country. We were visiting town for the weekend, and wanted to get some takeout to complete the hotel trifecta of television, bed and food. So I attempted to triangulate the best pizza place within walking distance. Yelpers seem to agree on Main Street Pizza, so I went with it. My wife summed up our pizza in three words: "Sad, soggy, and salty." She didn't want to trust ANY pizza this far north and far from a metropolitan area, but I convinced that we need to trust our Yelping community. Well, maybe it was because the place was so busy this Saturday night, but this was a very disappointing pie. Good ingredients, but poorly prepared. You can tell how undercooked it is just from the photo. It dripped with water from the tomatoes, and the fresh mozzarella gave the whole thing the texture of a wet sponge. Stumbled upon Main St. Pizza yesterday after walking down the strip in Lake Placid looking for a quick lunch. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as the pizza counter was sparse with only a few slices on display but the ones up did look very good. Myself and my girlfriend took advantage of the lunch special which I believe was $5.50 for two slices and a drink (very reasonable). The gentleman at the counter threw our slices in the oven and proceeded to ring us up. He turned around and told us the total was $31 and proceeds to go on and on about some local tax, blah blah blah. He was obviously joking around which is fine but went with it waaayyyyy too long and droned on about this tax for what seemed like forever (eye roll). Finally he let up and took my card to swipe it. The rest of the experience was excellent - they brought us our slices, napkins, toppings, etc and checked up on us during the meal. We only ordered cheese slices but they were delicious. I know good pizza and this was right up there. Not the absolute best I've ever had but definitely upper echelon. The only thing I regret is not trying any of the specialty slices or appetizers (garlic knots, etc). I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more
