We were looking for a good steak. La Bella's rib eye was cooked to perfection and had a nice aged profile. We enjoyed it very much. The French Onion Soup was a bit underwhelming, needed a deeper flavor and more onions. The sole was good flavor-wise, but it was a bit messy with broken pieces instead of a filet. Service was nice and friendly. The decor was cool with the Adirondack look and feel. I'd recommend the rib eye of you're looking for a good steak! read more

This may be the worst food I've been given to eat anyplace. I ordered the Fettuccini Carbonara. What I received was gluey, boxed pasta with perhaps a 1/4 cup of cream. It is meant to come with prosciutto, onions and peas. There were no onions or peas and what they said was prosciutto looked, tasted and I believe was 1 piece of thinly sliced deli ham ripped into tiny pieces - no flavor, not good and it cost nearly thirty dollars. I will never go near this restaurant again and I highly suggest no one else does either. read more

During my visit to Saranac Lake I ate at this eatery twice. Their tomato sauce was excellent and the service team was very friendly. I had spaghetti one night and a sea food combo the other night. We had a decent meal here while staying in saranac, the entire dining room was a retired boomer age group. The bread was served before the meal with butter and a spicy red sauce. Salads also come with the meals and I had blue cheese dressing that was very watery with no cheese to be had. I had the chicken francaise and my husband the eggplant parm, both come with thin spaghetti in a red sauce this red sauce was heavy on chunks of tomatoes and chunks of onions (not very good) my chicken was very tasty with one stalk of broccoli. There aren't many options in saranac for dinner and this one fills that niche spot. Super rustic decor and carpeting on the dining room floor. read more

This place did everything right! We got there early on a Mon night in June. Parking lot is small; interior has smallish dining and bar areas. We exchanged waves with chef on porch on our way in. Lovely waitress and waiter, water girl. Table cloth and napkin were fabric and we received prompt refills of fresh ice-water. Delicious bread came out quickly with tasty red sauce. Menu had a full selection of fish and meat entrees, including veal. We ordered the chicken & shrimp w spinach & mozzarella special AND & the veal piccata. Both were somewhat over-salted but greatly enjoyed. We ate a Second basket of bread, dipped in the tasty plate sauces! (We were hungry after biking the rail trail). Now we were too full for desert. The glass of Pino wine was very tasty with no sharp aftertaste. So, we found this a perfect dining experience! We left happy. Would recommend for adults who like flavorful Italian! read more

Had a very nice experience here we started with some very tasty homemade bread and some kind of vinegar sauce to dip the bread in which was also very good. When we receded it took probably 20 minutes before our server took our drink order. Once they figured out which server was going to be waiting on us the service was pretty good and the food was really good. We both ordered seafood dishes and side salads with blue cheese. My girlfriend found the salad to be wilted and the blue cheese to be watery. She got the seafood combo with which came with shrimp calamari clams mussels and scallops served over linguini. She loved it, I got the special which had shrimp clams scallops and half of a lobster over linguini which I also loved. We got carrot cake for dessert to go which was homemade and delicious. This place isn't fancy, you might even say "rustic," but that is what we liked. The food was very good. Meals came with salad, bread and an awesome dipping sauce (available for take-out for $6 a jar). The sauce appeared to be olive oil tomatoes, garlic, with a hot pepper. It was addicting The menu is classic Italian, with some fish and meat thrown in. My wife had the salmon. It was cooked well, served with broccoli and a baked potato. My chicken marsala was excellent. My only complaint was it was served barely warm. I asked them to heat it in the microwave and it came back piping hot. It is served with a side of spaghetti. We also ordered a bottle of wine. They had several bottles to choose from in the $25 range. That also reflects the restaurant overall; the prices are very reasonable. Service was good, particularly since they were down a server, which was obvious because of how busy the wait staff was. If you're in the area looking for a reasonably priced food (not necessarily a "dining experience"), check them out. read more

My partner is from Italy, and usually, he doesn't have a high expectation of any type of "American Italian food", but he totally changed his opinions afterward! He ordered NY steak, which he loves it! I ordered the flounder stuffed with crab meat, which is amazing too! Aside from the entree, the salad was very fresh, and the price is very very reasonable compared with the restaurants located on Main Street. The parking is also easy and free. There is definitely a cook on the kitchen who is making this food fresh. Meals start out with a hot loaf of bread and a cold dip made of tomatoes garlic and hot vinegar pepper. We chose an appetizer of crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Members of the party had pasta primavera, chicken piccata and chicken parm. Small fresh tasting salads preceded the entree served on chilled plates. Entrees showed touches of care, sprinklings if minced fresh herbs. Portions are appropriate. If you are getting two nice sized chicken breasts you only need a 1/2 cup side pasta. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic to make sure very e was happy. This is home cooked food prepared by a restaurant that cares. We were there in a quiet night. Came here with a large work group as a Christmas celebration. We all agreed that it was a great experience overall. Started off with fried calamari and shrimp cocktail. The calamari was exactly as you would expect and the shrimp were HUGE! Absolutely delicious! I order the chicken parmesan and it was an incredibly large amount of food and the flavor was exactly what I was looking for. Yummy sauce with huge juicy pieces of breaded chicken with pasta on the side. Everyone else seemed to also be happy with their food. Service was also great all night. Not quite sure what's up with Italians and the Addies, but this is yet another hidden Adirondack gem, located along the ride between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Completely visually eclipsed by the Pizza Hut next door, La Bella is super-delicious, authentic Italian cuisine with generous portions (i.e., the leftovers make for a great lunch the next day). Second time we've been here, a year from our last visit and the food has been great both times. It's a small restaurant with a dining room and a lounge/bar. We came in on a winter Sunday night and we were the only people in the place, we decided to sit at the bar because the Patriots vs. Chiefs game was on.
