Our central AC unit was not working and Jimmy was the only one who could come on short notice. Everybody else was all booked up. I called him on a Wednesday and he was able to come the next day, and came right on time. There is a $70 ($) service charge but if you decide to fix whatever needs fixing, it's applied towards the balance. He told us it looked like a certain part was broken and he had the part with him, so he was able to fix it the same day, and at a reasonable price. Hopefully we won't need to call him again anytime soon but if I have any AC needs, I now have a guy! read more

This is an usual review because well, I didn't end up have anything fixed with my A/C. I had heard a screeching noise coming out of my AC a few weeks ago. Jimmy came to assess the situation and of course, it was working fine when he was here. He immediately diagnosed the issue as a ball bearing issue with motor. Told me I could let it go until it conks out or preventatively have it removed and replaced. I had him come back today to remove it-but as we chatted he advised me that yes he could replace motor-but since the rest of HVAC is 18 years old...it would be a moot point. He said he would just continue to use it until time to replace entire unit. I totally appreciate his honesty and am grateful for his advice which saved me $750 which would have been wasted when the rest of unit fails. I would like to note that he came TWICE to my apt and never charged me for a service fee. You can be sure that I will call him when I need a full replacement. Thank you Jimmy! read more

Our freezer has had a leak for over a month and we had an appointment with Jimmy about 3 weeks ago and he had to cancel since he was backed up and he never rescheduled. After repeated calls and emails, I finally got a rescheduled appointment with Jimmy's today given a window of 9-11am. They have still yet to show as of 245pm, never mind call me. I called three times since 11am and left a voicemail, no call back. I have already scheduled an appointment with another company for Monday, which I should have done weeks ago but I was giving Jimmy's a chance as they were referred. I wish I could give zero stars, what a waste of my time. read more

I will give this place zero rating if possible. I called their phone and when someone picked up , I asked if they could repair a washer and dryer unit and the person said "NO WE DON'T" and hung up. How can you say you don't repair washer units when a washer is your cover photo? And it states on your website that you repair washers, dryers among other things. Bad and completely false advertising! read more

After a failed attempt to use another company to fix my fridge, I called Service Magic who connected me to Jimmy's Arctic Air. They called me back immediately and were able to come inspect my fridge the same day. The repairman was on time, listened to the complaints about the fridge and did everything he could to try to find out the problem. Turns out there is no major problem and of course the fridge wouldn't make the noise when he was there - not his fault. The repairman said he would call the manufacturer to see if they had another solution to ensure the noises never happen again. The service charge was only $59 - very reasonable. They speak great English and are clear and professional on the phone. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. read more

Several months ago they replaced a defrost heater in my fridge and charged a lot $$$ to install. A month later it stopped working. I then bought my own defrost heater and relaced it myself - it's been fine ever since. I suspect they installed a used part to save themselves a little money. They are the worst. read more

Jimmy is not really standing on his words. I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon but he didn't show up in time so I had to call him to find out why. I asked very politely that I'm afraid that whether I had the wrong info on my calendar. He didn't even say sorry, but told me that there's a problem on his truck and asked me to wait for an extra hour. If he's not showing up within a couple of hours I should make a call on Monday to reschedule according to him. He didn't show up Saturday, hence I gave him a few calls on Monday. Neither did he pick up any call nor gave me a return call. I moved on to find out other AC companies out there. Maybe he is not that enthusiastic on getting a new business of which I conclude. read more

I called Jimmy's 2 years ago when my York AC stopped working. It took repeated calls and hounding to get this guy to my house. He said I need a new motor which when took another week( during a heatwave naturally)for him to install. Two years later, the same thing happens. This time, I called New England AC, also in Hoboken. They came the same day, determined that the motor that was put in was not only the wrong brand but was the wrong RPMs, hence it breaking in 2 years. Bob and Fred from New England AC had the new, correct motor in within a day and a half. ( I will be writing another GREAT review on them.) Had a gas furnace that would turn on and then turn off immediately. Had another local give an eval initially, but that guy said I had to replace the whole furnace unit. No way I would commit that quickly without a 2nd or 3rd opinion. So I called Jimmy up for a Saturday inspection to give his opinion. He was quick and tried different things to see what was wrong. Eventually he noticed that the flame sensor plug got corroded and after a minor rub down, the furnace stayed lit. He's pretty much old school from what i can see. I am so appreciative of Jimmy that I decided to write this review shortly after he left. We were without A/C and with the expected 90 degree temperatures this weekend we were dreading being without it. Jimmy first stopped by two days ago, the day after I first reached out, when other HVAC companies were telling me they couldn't get here till until after Memorial Day! When he arrived, he told me what he thought the issue was, gave me options for how to fix it, reviewed the costs, and explained it would be at least a few days until the parts were available given the option we chose. The parts arrived today and like other HVAC people in May his schedule was jammed. However, he called me mid-afternoon and said he could swing by later in the afternoon. Sure enough, Jimmy swung by well after a typical work day at the end of a long week, fixed the issue, our A/C is up and running, and what really stood out to me was when he told me he couldn't possibly have let us go through the hot weekend without cold air.
