We played Ka'anapali during our stay on Maui, and opted to rent clubs from Jimmy instead of the course. Positives: club rental price was a bargain compared to the course prices, Jimmy's storage unit was close to our condo in Kahana. Negatives: Jimmy doesn't have the best customer service attitude, his communication skills are subpar at best, and his clubs are pretty beat up. We had to continuously reach out to him to ensure the rental process was complete, we didn't receive the instructions to meet up with him after he refused to deliver the clubs 5 minutes down the street even though his website claims he'll deliver, and after all of the above he was sarcastic, condescending, and had the audacity to ask for a tip at the pickup. We picked them up and had a great time using them at Kana'apalli Kai golf course. Jimmy even booked our tee off times too. We were pleased with the clubs and the service. On our trip to Maui we wanted to play a round of golf and needed to rent some clubs and ended up finding this place on Yelp. I went to website, submitted a request form, and sent an email to call them directly. So skip the form and just call directly since you are gonna have to do it directly. Jimmy was super helpful and was able to take care of our tee time and gold club rental set. You let him know what kind of clubs you want to rent. He has all the major brands, and of course I went with Taylormade clubs. The rental set we picked came out to around $43/set for a day rental, and it came with 14 clubs, bag, and head covers. Even for being rentals the clubs were in pretty good shape, only thing is the golf grips were definitely on their last legs . We paid for the tee time over the phone, he handles booking it for you, then when you pick up the clubs or have them delivered, you pay for the clubs at pickup. Our hotel was close to the pickup spot. The one thing about picking up yourself is that you get to pick your putter. It's on an appointment basis so be sure to pick a time that makes sense for you. We were a little early and Jimmy was as able to accommodate us 15 minutes early. Once you are done with the clubs, he instructed us to drop the clubs off at our hotel concierge and one of his staff went and picked up the clubs the next day. We saved about $34 on the rental itself versus renting at the golf course. Overall, a pretty good experience and would use again next time I'm on Maui read more

Full sets included driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 1-2 hybrids, sand wedge, A wedge, and choice of putter in addition to standard irons. The clubs were delivered to our door on time. Payment was a breeze, and clubs we just dropped pff the clubs at our hotel's concierge at the end of the round. Jimmy was great about confirmation and follow up. I rented clubs from Jimmy's Golf Rental in Maui because the prices seemed pretty good. But man, dealing with Jimmy was something else. He's got this way of talking that's just... off. Super rude and kinda condescending. Like, when I found out one of the drivers was busted (sounded like something was rattling around inside), I texted him, and he was just like, 'Stop using it, thank you.' No apology, nothing. Club quality was just OK. We were instructed to keep the head covers on the putters at all times when not in use which doesn't make sense because they were beat up. I borrowed my brothers putter because mine was too short even though he asked for my height ahead of time (I found that odd that he brought a short putter). I mentioned it and he shrugged it off. I asked for a bit of a refund since I had to keep borrowing my brother's driver, which was a bit of a pain. Suggested $15-$20 off would be fair, but he only coughed up $10. I wasn't gonna argue over it, but it just added to the whole vibe. I should've checked the reviews more closely before going with Jimmy's. Turns out, my experience wasn't a one-off. If you look, a handful of other reviews mentioned the same kind of attitude problem. I guess the decent prices don't really make up for the hassle and the way you get treated. Next time, I'll probably just pay a bit more at the course. At least they're nice about it. 3 stars for convenience (he drops them off but you need to tip) and value. read more

His rates are far cheaper than the courses and we also booked the tee time at Kaanapali at a discounted rate through him. Found Jimmy's on a web search and glad I did. Was a little strange meeting them outside the gates of a self storage but worth it. We rented a set of men's and women's clubs and they where nicely cared for, even got to pick out the putter I wanted. Since we were in the Lahaina area we figured we'd rent from Jimmy due to convenience. Jimmy's club rentals are run from a storage facility. You need to call and have someone open a gate to the facility. When we arrived he already had a set of clubs set aside for us to rent but we noticed the grips were long overdue for a change as they were dried out. The clubs certainly had a lot of rounds in them and were pretty dated. We asked if there were other sets to rent from and he seemed irritated by the question and said that we already agreed to this particular set. We figured just to let it go, and go with it. Even the putter we rented was pretty beat up and not taken care of. Jimmy could learn to be more courteous and have some aloha spirit. We thought maybe he was having a bad day and just let it go, but after reading other reviews, that may just be his personality. He is very rude and condescending. We were staying near Jimmy's business so we actually stopped by to pick up our clubs and met with Jimmy himself. He is awesome. Super friendly, super helpful, and (now that we know) can provide discounted rates at all the courses (check with Jimmy before you book any tee times)! And to make it even easier, someone met us at the course when we finished our round to pick up the clubs! Incredible service. Do not rent here!! The only positive I can mention is the clubs are decent and they were picked up on time. On jimmys site it shows daily rates of 25-35 dollars and 100-120 weekly. We was charged 60 per day so 120 for 2 days. When Jimmy picked up the clubs I asked him about the 25-35 rate that is advertised on his website and he said "the site was down and inactive and having tech difficulties" which is a lie. The site was active when we found him and was active during the rental period and during pickup. He also mentioned the clubs were "premium clubs" Jimmy is rude on the phone. We checked at the two courses we played and we could have rented clubs there for 128 dollars. Savings of 8 dollars. Not worth the trouble. Don't lie to your customers face and say your site is inactive and advertise rates that aren't available. We will never use or recommend jimmys maui golf rentals. Poor business. Shortly after posting this review I received a text from Jimmy stating "when we spoke April 1st, we discussed our standard and premium sets and their costs" this is an absolute lie!!! The text also stated "I believe you mentioned our website during the conversation and I said that our site is having technical difficulties and due to the fires our website administrator lost his house and business, we haven't been able to fix our issues" This also is a boldface lie!!! Stopped in to explore the option of renting a set of clubs here rather than at the course tomorrow. We were met by both a female and male assistant who both seemed angry and were not very helpful. First question was where are we playing at which point the told us all about how much more expensive the clubs would be at the course. The selection was quite limited (only Taylormade) and low end clubs at that with worn grips that were mediocre at best. They claimed that we would pay double at the course, which wasn't true. They quoted $35 for the rental while the course charged $55 ... that's not double. We were so offended by the tone and aggressive nature of the support staff that we ended up walking out. This was perhaps the worst customer service we have received since being on Maui. I will not consider Jimmy's option in the future and would suggest others proceed cautiously. Regarding my rental experience, I was definitely not satisfied: owner was very stressed out and extremely inconsiderate and rude. Owner answered the phone at least three times during the transaction... I waited while he conducted his phone business. Not sure why he treated me so poorly. Definitely didn't feel valued or appreciated. Owner was extremely mean to me... he called me names and insulted my character. Overall a very unfavorable experience. One of my golf partners rented his clubs elsewhere and he was extremely satisfied.
