BUYER BEWARE (at the end of this review I put the name and number of a reputable mover I will use exclusively in the future). Stuart will absolutely call you right back and he'll come out, maybe even same day to provide a professional and courteous assessment of your moving needs. Fast forward to moving day. Stuart calls to say the movers can't show up on time. Later, the movers didn't know where the second house was and they weren't allowed to have my phone number and so a half hour was lost on an already tight schedule because Stuart was not available to contact the movers who were driving around and didn't know where to go. So far, not so bad, right? But at the end of the move, at the point of payment, I was told by one of Stuart's honest movers that they had accidentally broken one of my tables that I thought they had put in storage. They said they would repair and return the table. I had bought insurance, so not to worry, right? Wrong. I tried for months to call and text Stuart to get delivery of the table. After putting me off for several months, he finally admitted that they were not able to fix the table. I asked for compensation and he said that even though I purchased insurance, he would not be replacing it. I asked for the parts to be returned to me or at least get a picture of the table and he refused. I did purchase insurance for my things. This is fraud. There is nobody else to call and nobody who will take care of your issue. I have tried repeatedly to get resolution and there's just no way to do it. After this company has your money, Stuart will not honor your claims or return your calls. Do not use this business. If you look at a few of the other reviews, you'll notice the same things being said about people who purchased insurance and then he wouldn't honor the claim. I found there to be all sorts of negative reviews for every moving company out there sprinkled in with some good ones. I chose Jim's because someone I know personally had used them multiple times & recommended them to me. Ultimately, I couldn't have been more pleased! These guys were like the "dream team" of movers & I had an out-of-state move, which was not easy. Stuart quoted me an all-in price that he assured me would not change; I agreed and sure enough there were no awkward conversations about added costs, etc. In fact, he even allowed me to add my entire 15x10 ft storage unit into the moving truck without charging me a dime more than what was agreed. That's right, the 4 movers took the truck a couple miles down the street and cleaned out my complete storage unit after loading up my home. That definitely felt like a huge bonus. Also, when everything was unloaded the next day, not a single item was broken. My movers were Dan, Carey, Josh, Ryan & Sean. Of course every move has it's unique factors, but I'd give these guys the highest recommendation to allow the best chance for you to be happy with yours based on the experience I just had & that's after I went into it very cautiously after reading some negative reviews. And lastly, from what I gathered having read so many reviews, clear communication is the biggest key to being happy with your moving service so simply ask all of the questions and state all of your concerns in advance and Jim's Moving Service will be able to help put you at ease. Stuart visited my old place twice to help map out the required space needed & provide us with some packing up recommedations. I would give a 0 if I could. Not only did they damage most of my new wood furniture but they broke our flat screen TV and then told us it wasn't their fault because they had to wrap it themselves. He said we were supposed to pack our TV. When I hired him he said that they would wrap the TVs for us. They were unwilling to replace it or do anything to fix the situation. We even paid extra for moving insurance. We ended up having to contact their insurance company, after fighting with them for almost a week to get the number. The insurance company said that they lied about what happened. This was unbelievable to me. We finally were able to settle it with their insurance company, that apologized to us for their clients behavior. read more

Our experience with Jim moving company was the worst we have ever experienced. We moved many times over the years !!! First of all they show up with this old moving truck that looked like it came from the Junk yard . Then it leaked oil on the front of house which we just sold . Total mess . The men where nice . But not what I would say very professionally. The worst part of the whole experience of this company we did not receive all our furniture that was supposed to be delivered to our new home. after being in storage for 6 weeks ! After almost 6 months my Husband actually had to go and get our furniture himself. They never Delivered .Plus a lot of broken items . The owner Stuart is all talk . I hired Jim's movers to move my mother. She had a glass table top dining set. They broke the top glass piece. I called them multiple times to replace it or compensate for it. After multiple calls and messages left to him he finally got back to me and said I did not buy insurance for the move.. the cost to replace glass top is roughly 380.00. He said he would give me 60 cents per pound of the table, which is about 30.00. I will never use or refer Jim's moving again. Very nice movers but wouldn't use again. I called the office and told Stuart they were nice so I tipped them $100 on a move that was just shy of $500. They didn't use good judgment and commingled dirty things with clean things. Steam mop and broom and lawn chairs in wardrobe boxes with my clean clothes. Also white floor lamp shade being carried in the lid of my litter box. What I didn't tell Stuart is that the screws were missing to my flat screen tv stand. They alleged they popped out during the move and have put zip ties in my tv to keep it from falling over until I get screws. The guys were nice and the damage was done so I didn't belabor the issue. I also didn't tell Stuart that they failed to get my apartment number down until the third attempt. When I called in the move order I told them my apartment number. Then 6 PM the night before they asked to confirm my address and didn't have the apartment number so I told them. Then the morning of the move they called again asking which apartment. Lastly they mentioned to add more coolant to the truck because it might be overheating. Scary to hear when you are mid move. read more

Please read the full review!! I never review stuff because every place that I go is great and needs nothing more than the positive reviews they already have. But these movers have forced my hand. They were extremely late to the pick up time that we arranged from my family's apartment to our town home. On top of this they broke our couch and the dresser that my father uses for his clothes. They also left with my mother's shoes in a box without taking it out of their truck. Not only this but whenever we call them to try to figure something out they either do not answer or are just no help at all. I had these movers move for me on two occasions many years ago and at the time was pleased with the fast and affordable service but things have apparently changed since then and now this company has very poor follow through and doesn't seem to have any problem with leaving potential clients hanging in question. I was surprised by the fact they ghosted me once they decided they didn't want to accept the work that I needed done. I had to call him them three times to get him to make a commitment to moving a fountain for me and in the end I stood around, with a friend and the home owners handyman, for two hours and they still could'nt say when they would arrive. Just moved 2 weeks ago. Worst move ever. Guys were nice but very slow. Was told a one bedroom apartment would take about 5-6 hours. They arrived at 9:30 and were not done until about 9 pm! Only one guy unloaded. Also, have many missing items and several broken items! Should not have taken all day into the night. We called to express our displeasure and although the guy agreed it took longer than usual would not give me a credit despite the fact that I had 3 helpers in addition to the three guys. Lousy customer service and should not be charged $1200!!! Worst moving service ever! Stay away and save your money! I would rate them with no stars!!! read more

First the good. The guys were very friendly. We were moving my elderly mother from her house to an apartment, and she didn't exactly have everything ready to go. The movers were very patient with her. Now the bad. The movers were incredibly slow. One of the movers kept complaining to me about how slowly the other two guys were going. Almost every time I checked up on them, one guy would be puttering around in the truck, one guy would be waiting by the elevator, and the other guy would be MIA. The move took 5 hours, when it should have taken 3 1/2 to 4 tops. Then... one of the old guys who lived in the new building accosted the movers, saying they were blocking in his car. This wasn't true -- the movers weren't blocking anything and weren't in anyone's way. Unfortunately, when this rude person decided to bother them, the movers did not respond very professionally. I don't blame them for being upset -- the guy was a liar and a jerk. But the movers became very belligerent with him, and escalated the situation. The guy accused one of the movers of hitting him (I wasn't there at the beginning of the altercation, so I didn't see if this happened or not -- but I don't believe it happened) and he called the police. It took 45 minutes from the start of the altercation to the police leaving and work starting again. The movers later insisted it wasn't 45 minutes, but I was there with my watch, counting down every minute work wasn't happening. My mother called the office and got the woman there to agree that we would not pay for the 45 minutes -- but at the end she wanted to give us a discount for only $15. We talked this up to $25, but the discount should have been at least $45. Now, days after the move, we discovered they put my mother's bed back together wrong, and it's falling apart. Anyway, the good: friendly. The bad: slow, unprofessional, careless. read more

Jim's moving moved us from California to Utah in December 2019. They came with a truck too small for the job. I made a huge mistake by trusting them to store the rest of my belongings until they could get them to Utah. Although the fist truck arrived on time and went well, the second truck came months later and several things were broken and several things were missing. I made another mistake by paying them in full after the first truck came. The worst part is that I can not get Stuart, the owner of the company to return my emails or phone calls to send me a claim and bring me missing items. He has just simply decided to be a dishonest person and not respond and take accountability for what went wrong. DO NOT use Jim's moving as your movers. I just recently moved in to a new place. I could not find anyone to help me move. I was in desperate need of a helper and I had a friend who knows a person (Justin) who works with Jim's moving service. I contacted him that night and he came to help me without hesitation. Even though he had been working all day long, he put everything aside to come help me. He came with the proper equipment to move the furniture and also knew of crafty and safe ways to move the extra heavy items. He moved everything in a manner that protected any of my items and also protected the walls and floors in my new place. Very professional and skillful. What a day these men had yesterday moving our old shop into the new location and being surrounded by women trying to help(?). This was a hard move with big bulky pieces of furniture. They couldn't have been more helpful and FRIENDLY. They handled everything with care and never a harsh word. I think we had 5 men (I didn't count) and every one of them was a hard worker and polite to each and everyone of us. They helped move things around that they really didn't have to do and seemed to care that we had everything in place where we wanted it. Not one of them ever lost their cool when 5 different women had 5 different ideas on how things should be done. The price was was very good and I think we found some new customers for our shop. The move consisted of an entire household of goods being transported from Ventura county to 2 locations in Orange county. The workers who came to the house were very cordial and hard working. Unfortunately they did not properly protect our belongings and flooring. It was not until they left, we found that our patio lounge armrests were visibly damaged as if it was dragged on cement. Our dining table now has indentation marks as if something heavy was laid directly on it without any protective blankets. The travertine floor has permanent dolly wheel marks that were caused when they moved a safe...I was told beforehand that the floor surface would be covered which did not obviously happen. I contacted Stuart at the company who immediately responded to my email. We set up a time to meet and he never showed up for the appointment and has not responded to my emails. read more

I cannot express how upset I am as we are unpacking. We hired Jim's to pack, store, and move our items from the San Fernando valley to Santa Clarita. We have had countless items broken, "lost", damaged, and the all around carelessness with the packing has us regretting hiring Jim's Moving Sercice. Not to mention the unprofessionalism, while they were packing there was bad langue used around my toddler, one of the movers was very angry at the supervisor and tried telling me about it, they rushed through the packing (hence why we have broken items), and the day we moved we had planned on meeting at 8am and they decided to start later (at 10-11am) and didn't tell us. I am shocked at how terrible they have treated our things. A bowl of my grandmothers, a vintage knickknack, and many frames were the latest items we've found broken. A vintage dresser was also damaged in the move. That's just naming a few. And then there is the many nicks in our walls from them moving our things carelessly in our home. Oh, and they broke our daughters little bike. Just all around a disaster of a move. I do not recommend hiring this company. We spent far too much on having our items broken, missing, and damaged. read more
