It's been years since I've visited Jim's so I'm happy to say that the service and food still has solid quality for what it is. We arrived on a Saturday during lunch and they were very busy. Fortunately there was available seating and we were quickly addressed by a server who clearly was working VERY hard. The bacon on my BLT was nice and crisp, yet not overly cooked. The tomato and lettuce were nice and fresh. The onion rings were awesome! I give them a 10 out of 10! The chicken sandwich was grilled nicely with well melted cheese. The amount of freshly cooked fries provided was terrific. Our server, despite clearly serving way too many tables, was on top of things, proving drink refills without us asking. He also came by at the end of the meal and asked if we needed to-go boxes. I appreciated that he noticed our need without me needing to ask. This is not a place for fine dining. But if you're looking for nice, simple American almost diner-type food, please come here!

Friendly waitress but not so with the cashier. Nice and clean place. Food was very good. I will come back to tried other menu dishes. I recommend this place to all seniors who enjoy home cooking styles. Thanks and blessings

Always the best comfort food. Jinger always so friendly, Mario too. Everything cooked fresh to order, no hanging out under the heat lamp. Club sandwich HUGE! Can have 2 meals from it. Only place I know you can find wonderful liver and onions with homemade brown gravy! Love coming here.

From the moment we sat down, the service set a phenomenal tone for the meal. Our server, Avery, genuinely took the time to ask what we were interested in, thoughtfully guiding us through the menu with recommendations that were, frankly, unbelievable. Every single suggestion was spot-on. As for the food, every dish that arrived at the table was a masterpiece: The Brunch Plate: A beautifully classic, elevated breakfast. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked to absolute perfection, seasoned with a light touch of pepper and spice. Paired with perfectly golden, crispy hash browns, savory sausage, thick-cut toast, and a rich fruit compote, it was a flawless, hearty start to the day. The Beet & Citrus Salad: A vibrant, refreshing standout. The earthy depth of roasted red and golden beets paired wonderfully with bright, juicy citrus segments, creamy crumbled cheese, and fresh greens. It was beautifully balanced, incredibly fresh, and a perfect contrast of textures. The Pesto Pasta: Absolutely spectacular. The pasta shape held onto the rich, flavorful pesto sauce perfectly, which was tossed with fresh spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and tender chicken, all finished with a generous dusting of parmesan. It was savory, comforting, and packed with bright, fresh flavor. Between the flawless, attentive service and the phenomenal quality of the kitchen, they made this Father's Day incredibly memorable. We will absolutely be back!

From the moment we walked in, the hostess gave us a warm welcome, and we were seated right away. It took our server a little while to get to our table, but she arrived with waters in hand, which was appreciated. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were good, though I've definitely had better back home in Houston. For my entrée, I ordered the Badass Bacon Plate, and it absolutely hit the spot. Everything on the plate was delicious, from the thick-cut slab of bacon to the perfectly cooked scrambled eggs. I especially appreciated that the eggs were seasoned before cooking, something I don't often see at restaurants, and it really made a difference. The hash brown casserole was also fantastic and tied the whole meal together. My brother ordered the fried chicken biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Although our server was clearly very busy, the restaurant had a great team approach. Other staff members checked on us, refilled drinks, and made sure we had everything we needed, so we never felt neglected. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food, friendly hospitality, and excellent teamwork. This Asian smokehouse definitely lives up to the hype. Since we had more adventures planned for the evening, we decided to keep dinner on the lighter side. Loro's menu combines Asian-inspired and Texas smokehouse flavors, creating a unique and delicious dining experience. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. We placed our order at the counter, and somehow the staff magically delivers everything to the correct table...without numbers, flags, or those little buzzing gadgets. I'm still trying to figure out their secret. We especially enjoyed the open seating, modern décor, and communal dining concept. The indoor-outdoor layout is especially appealing during Austin's cooler months. For dinner, we ordered the wings, Brussels sprouts, and salmon bowls. My friend happily claimed most of the wings, as they were a little crispier than I prefer. The Brussels sprouts, however, were excellent...crispy, crunchy, and finished with just the right touch of sweetness. The true highlight were the salmon bowls. The salmon was perfectly charred and packed with flavor, while the coconut rice added a rich, slightly sweet complement that tied the dish together seamlessly. Loro delivered a fun, flavorful dining experience and proved to be an excellent choice for a birthday celebration.

Credit to the restaurant as we only found one available table. We ordered a smash burger and the smoked salmon bowl. We weren't a fan of the herbs but I'll attribute that to personal preference. The smash burger was good, however, I feel the burger was not worth the price. The burger did not include a side and while good, I felt was more expensive than what it was worth which is what lowers my score. Overall, it felt like fast food with ambiance at sit down restaurant prices.

Vida Verde Kitchen -- A Hidden Gem That's Worth Finding…read more Austin is overflowing with trendy restaurants where the food is decent, the lighting is aggressive, and the wait time requires a light snack and a personality shift. I tend to avoid those places. Vida Verde Kitchen, thankfully, is not that. Tucked into a great area but slightly hidden (the kind of spot you feel proud to "discover"), Vida Verde feels like a restaurant that exists for people who actually want to eat, not just post. The menu is a thoughtful fusion of Tex-Mex, fresh flavors, and Americana--familiar enough to be comforting, but creative enough to keep things interesting. Yes, it's a bit overpriced, but the food earns its confidence. The guacamole is an absolute must, and anything leaning Tex-Mex is consistently solid. I can vouch. The wait staff deserves real credit here--knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in the food and experience, which goes a long way these days. The atmosphere hits that Austin sweet spot: industrial touches softened by lush green foliage. It's stylish without trying too hard, which is rare and appreciated. If I had one note? This place needs a happy hour and a few more solid specials. Do that, and Vida Verde becomes dangerous--in the best way. We were seated in the back and were given a chance to order drinks immediately. Sadly, the service after that point was unusually slow for our table. The rest of the people around us were getting served appetizers and their meals before our waitress even came back to take our order. The prices are a little higher than the best Mexican spots in Austin, so I'm glad that I wasn't paying for this meal. Once we were given a chance to order, I grabbed their Quesabirria tacos with rice and beans. The tacos were great. Super crispy and the meat was flavorful. The consomé was excellent to dip the tacos in. The beans were pretty good and the rice was decent Mexican rice, though not exceptional. I would maybe give it another chance if I was nearby, but after having to wait so long to order, I'm a little deterred from coming back, even if I thought the food was pretty good.
