It's been years since I've visited Jim's so I'm happy to say that the service and food still has solid quality for what it is. We arrived on a Saturday during lunch and they were very busy. Fortunately there was available seating and we were quickly addressed by a server who clearly was working VERY hard. The bacon on my BLT was nice and crisp, yet not overly cooked. The tomato and lettuce were nice and fresh. The onion rings were awesome! I give them a 10 out of 10! The chicken sandwich was grilled nicely with well melted cheese. The amount of freshly cooked fries provided was terrific. Our server, despite clearly serving way too many tables, was on top of things, proving drink refills without us asking. He also came by at the end of the meal and asked if we needed to-go boxes. I appreciated that he noticed our need without me needing to ask. This is not a place for fine dining. But if you're looking for nice, simple American almost diner-type food, please come here!

Friendly waitress but not so with the cashier. Nice and clean place. Food was very good. I will come back to tried other menu dishes. I recommend this place to all seniors who enjoy home cooking styles. Thanks and blessings

Always the best comfort food. Jinger always so friendly, Mario too. Everything cooked fresh to order, no hanging out under the heat lamp. Club sandwich HUGE! Can have 2 meals from it. Only place I know you can find wonderful liver and onions with homemade brown gravy! Love coming here.

Glad it did. The menu isn't huge, but honestly that's usually a good sign -- focus on doing a smaller menu really well instead of serving 94 mediocre things and a sad waffle. I ordered the Bad Ass Bacon & Eggs plate. It came with thick-cut bacon, 2 eggs, hash brown casserole, wheat toast, and smoked salsa. Bacon - 9/10 This wasn't your average thin breakfast bacon. Thick-cut, almost pork belly style, with killer flavor and very meaty. Eggs - 9/10 Cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. Simple, but done right. Hash Brown Casserole - 8/10 Different than what I expected, but in a good way. Unique flavor and a great addition to the plate. Salsa - 7/10 Very homemade style salsa with a smoky flavor. Different, but really good. Atmosphere - 9/10 Loved the vibe. Cozy atmosphere, great music, and just an overall comfortable place to sit and enjoy breakfast. If this place was closer to home, I'd eat here often. Service - 10/10 Excellent service. Christy H. was friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time. Overall - 9/10 Definitely a must-try breakfast spot in Austin. They currently have four locations, and after eating here, it's easy to see why.

This place does get busy due to how popular the place is. They don't take reservations, so you have to there to put yourself on the waitlist. While you wait you can order a drink. We didn't since there were other coffee shops I wanted to try. Since everything looked so good on the menu, we asked our waitress what's the most popular. He recommended the chicken & biscuits, cinnamon toast, & the b.e.c sandwich. I ended up getting the b.e.c. sandwich & it was yummy. The sesame challah bun was soft & toasty. The bacon was smoky & crispy. The bacon, pimiento cheese, jalapeño jam, sunny egg, & arugula in the sandwich was the perfect combination for a breakfast sandwich. The potato wedges that it was served with were crispy, well seasoned, & not salty as all. My boyfriend ordered the chicken & biscuit & it was yummy as well. The chicken was crispy & juicy. Paired with the hot honey made it better. The biscuit was fluffy, but I wished it was more buttery. Overall, everything was so good. I'm definitely gonna try the cinnamon toast & other foods the next time I'm in Austin.

We walked from our hotel and were greeted with so much warmth right away. We were seated instantly and had the sweetest server, Sarah, who was incredibly helpful and attentive the entire time! Friendly staff overall. The food fell flat for almost all of us. The salads were fresh and good. However, the ribs were below average. Cornbread was stale and not tasty. Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We were both starving and this place is open 24/7. I drove by it for 20 years on the way to Avenue Barber Shop. I wanted shredded beef tacos but couldn't get them without cilantro so I chose shredded beef enchiladas (with an $8!) side of chips and salsa. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. She requested soft eggs, as she always does because too many places overcook them. The chips and salsa arrived. I was immediately disappointed. The menu said "we make our own chips." They were thick and yellow and appeared to be run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips. I prefer the thin white ones. I took one bite of salsa, and that was one bite too many. Cumin. I pushed it all aside. Cumin doesn't belong in salsa. (Sorry. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley.) My enchiladas came with black beans, and there was cumin in them. Cumin is overused and abused in most restaurants. I couldn't eat them. The rice was good but the chipotle sauce on the enchiladas was not. I scraped most of the sauce off and ate one enchilada, mainly because I just needed something in my stomach. We were still 45 miles from home. I pushed my plate away. I also ordered coffee. One sip of that was all I could stand. Too weak for me. It gets worse, much worse. My wife's eggs were barely cooked. She asked the waiter for some cooked eggs. He took her plate and returned about four minutes later. The eggs were still not cooked. She tried another bite but couldn't eat them. Her bacon was tough as a boot and not chewable. The home fries were average, but by the time her plate arrived at our table for the second time, they were cold. I pulled my card out waiting for our excellent server to return. He asked how everything was (he had to notice two plates still covered with food) and we politely told him. I ate one enchilada and some rice. My wife had two bites of egg and two bites of potato. He apologized and handed me the check. $65. Nothing comped and nothing adjusted. A manager should've been summoned. How does a place like this have any customers? It was our first and last visit.
