Prices are fair, as we paid $72 for 4 dishes. However, service was lackluster and we spent a long time waiting for food - looking at my photo timestamps, we got the app at 8:05, two entrees 20 minutes later, and then the last entree 20 minutes after that (had to ask the server to check on the dish). The seafood bibimbap (Chu Gu ...) is fantastic; lots of octopus - tiny tentacles abound - and scallops, paired with a healthy spice kick. The chicken wings are crunchy juicy and similarly spicy. The rose helps manage the spices. Beef bulgogi was tender but much milder in flavor by comparison. Pancakes are good too. Can't wait to go back. I went here on a date sporadically while walking through Andersonville and very glad we did because somehow I've never popped in here in the 3-4 years I've lived nearby (in Uptown). Although they were technically closing in 35 minutes, we asked if we could grab a drink and a quick bite and they didn't hesitate at all. The staff was friendly here and we got great vibes from the start which made the experience great. They pretty much let us sit anywhere since it wasn't too busy as it was already getting later, so that was nice too. We just ordered a soju bottle and a kimchi pancake but it was a perfect little bite and my date was Korean (from Korea) and even said it was pretty good. The food here was spectacular. Normally my fiancé and I share a large entree but the nature of Korean dishes makes them lighter. We each got our own entree and that was definitely the right portion. My boyfriend found this place after realizing the restaurant we originally wanted to go was closed. And thankfully, this place turned out to be a good alternative! We were seated at the front of the restaurant (they even generously gave us a big table!). With a candle on the table and direct night street view from the big window, it felt romantic and we enjoyed it very much. My boyfriend got spicy seafood noodle soup (if I remembered correctly) and I got beef bibimbap (which came with miso soup). We also ordered the pork and brussel sprouts appetizer. We started off strong with the vegan sushi roll. But after that, it was a wrap. I ordered the tofu glass noodles (chop chae) and the texture was so slimy. Plus, they lacked in taste. It's like they didn't even bother to cook the tofu. My friend had a beef dish (bulgogi) that she didn't enjoy either. When the waiter finally came to check on us, we told him that we weren't enjoying our food and instead of trying to find a solution, he responded "there's nothing we can do about that." Then walked away. It was like a slap in the face. Eventually, the manager decided to take the items we didn't like off the bill (to be clear, we would've been happy with a better response. My friend and I love to try new places. We never want to make anyone's job difficult. The waiters response took us over the edge though). We still left a tip although we probably shouldn't have. Jin Ju is a pretty nice looking place, but it's not expensively fancy though. Actually it's quite affordable to be honest. There's also Korean liquors that go good with the food as well. After doing stuff around the area, we came here. It's strange that a Swedish neighborhood has so many Asian restaurants. This is just one of many of these. Has to be the most affordable. We got some of the soju. It's $3 for a sampler cup. This is a Korean liquor made from sweet potatoes. This is pretty much like vodka except sweeter. As for the food, we got the Kimchi Mandoo. It's about $18, which was kind of a lot for the portion. These were pretty much dumplings with kimchi it seemed. Has quite a bit to choose from. We are vegetarian so this place has been on our list to try for a long time. We ordered the veg versions of the Duk Boki, Chap Chae, and Bi Bim Bap. Everything was incredible, but the Duk Boki stole the show. My husband and I both agreed we wished it was available as a large plate. I recommend getting one order per person interested in trying. The broth is just perfect. The Bi Bim Bap came with lots of little extras like pickled radish (insanely good), kimchi, steamed broccoli, and Korean potato salad. The Chap Chae was quite flavorful too. Sometimes you miss out on flavor when ordering Korean food as a vegetarian, but that was not the case here! The only issue was that you don't have a good place to rest your chopsticks. I put my napkin on my lap, but that meant I had to rest my utensils directly on the table or uncrumple the chopstick packaging. Out in Andersonville and needed a place to grab some dinner, so my friend and I decided to check out Jin Ju Korean Restaurant. I have been to quite a few Korean restaurants in my day and even spent a summer in Korea taking in the culture and eating so much fantastic food. I even cook it myself, so I have a great deal of appreciation for the cuisine. We got there an hour before they closed, but we were still seated very quickly. I will suggest calling ahead and making reservations to be safe. The restaurant is modern and beautiful all the staff are very kind and checked up on us quite a bit. I will say that the prices for this restaurant are very fair my friend and I got a lot of food and drinks and as you can see from the photos the portions were well balanced. Our bill was less than $100. You will have a complete meal on just the small plates. Ok, the food was good. Let's start with the chicken wings delicious and fried to perfection, also not too spicy just right. Kimchi pancake was good. I prefer more kimchi and a bit crispier, but it was still good. The Chapchae was good. I enjoyed the added pieces of Kalbi on top. I also liked the bulgogi. Jin Ju understands their area and audience and is reflected in the Atmosphere and taste of the overall food. I am used to more spices and seasoning from more traditional Korean restaurants, and I feel like the palette was more neutral for the general audience. This is not a bad thing, and overall I believe it will work in their favor. I washed Everything down with a mango habanero cocktail. My friend had a Hite Beer, and we shared some Soju. I've been coming to the Andersonville area for date night for years and finally had the chance to try Jin Ju -- I'll save you the suspense: you definitely want to eat here! For Valentine's Day, my partner and I wanted to try something different and knowing that I adore Korean food, we decided to make a reservation at Jin Ju. One note: you can only call in reservations but they are great at answering their phone so it wasn't a problem. When we arrived, the hostess checked our vaccine cards and licenses and we were seated quickly. The atmosphere is moody and romantic, with a swanky bar that you'd expect from a hotel in the middle of a major city. We honestly felt very cool. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and provided a few of his recommendations to us. The menu is accessed via QR code and we ordered the Pajun, Dak, fried Mandoo and Kalbi Beef. Truthfully, we may have ordered too much. After getting through everything aside from the Kalbi, we were stuffed. Everything was so delicious, fresh and plated very well. Our favorite was the Pajun, or scallion pancake. We loved the dish and that it was relatively simple but had layered and complex flavors. My partner also tried the soju-- a uniquely Korean alcoholic drink. He thought it was refreshing. Overall, we know we will be return! I was craving some home-y Korean food, so I decided to order from Jin Ju through Uber Eats! The food arrived in very meticulous and safe packaging. The food was still hot upon arrival too! I really enjoyed the kimbap! It tasted fresh and delicious! I wasn't a big fan of their yellow pickled radish or their kimchi...but the broccoli and radish kimchi were alright! My disappointment in my order though was the kimchi-jjigae. There was barely any pork, and it was cut into very small, small pieces. It was also very sour, and that flavored overpowered everything. This is a take out review. Jin Ju is on our regular rotation for Korean cuisine courtesy of Uber Eats. Bbq spare ribs is not a main but it's plenty for one person and is finger licking good. Just enough spice and love the sticky garlicky sauce. I usually order this as my entree. Fried chicken wings have a great batter and loads of flavor. Korean pancake is chock full of fat green onions and the accompanying dipping sauce is the bomb. Kids love the chap chae glass noodles with bulgogi. We usually receive 3 types of ban chan - always fresh - but sometimes it's hit or miss on whether they provide white rice. I usually order an extra side of rice to be safe. Korean food is one of my favorite cuisines, so I had high hopes. I was most excited for the steamed dumplings, but surprisingly it's the dish that I'd skip next time. The highlights of our meal were the dak gan jang (aka chicken wings, so crispy) and the domi. It seems like the domi is being slept on! If you're a fan of fish then please order this dish. It's juicy, flaky, lightly battered, and flavorful. The martinis aren't too strong, but you can easily get your drink fix because they sell soju by the bottle. Although it's not the place I'd go to for an authentic Korean meal, it's still a fun place to take friends to dabble into some Korean dishes and have soju/sake to go with it.
