I still think Joy Yees has the best selection of drinks! I missed the iced rose tea so I made a quick stop and ordered an iced rose tea and crab rangoons to go! This location has always been my favorite compared to the one in Chinatown and Evanston. The iced rose tea was refreshing, delicious and had that extremely bold rose flavor I love.

The lunch specials are great. They are fast and usually my orders comes out in 5 mins or so.

The beef with tomato rice is so iconic. Do yourself a favor and try it! Portions were generous, and the presentation was simple yet inviting. The dish alone is worth a visit, but the service and atmosphere wasn't bad. The staff was attentive, and the menu had so many great options to explore. If you're looking for Asian flavors and hearty portions, Joy Yee Noodles is the place to go. Highly recommend giving this spot a try! - AT

Phenomenal boba and milk tea menu! Plenty of space to sit while you wait for your drink or food order!! They have pictures with all the drinks available which was helpful!!

This is a nice alternative to the Chinatown location with ample parking. I like their smoothies so much that I had it two times at alternating locations. This time it was fresh mango papaya with basil seeds (Five stars on drinks). I ordered takeout, seafood chow mein and beef cube tomato rice. The chow mein did not blow me away as I wanted more pieces of seafood and it did not have shrimp. The later is a comfort food dish. It was delicious albeit on the greasy side. This version is like a fried rice preparation with eggs in a tomato base served with a beef cubes on top.

Went here on a weeknight and service was very fast. Received my order in about 10-15 minutes. The eel with beef cubes and tomato rice was very savory. The portion of eel was big and soft. The beef cubes were very tender and a little bit spicy. The mango smoothie was cold and sweet and the tapioca gave it a nice, chewy, flavor. The table and bathroom was very clean.

As I've mentioned in other reviews, my Chinese takeout is limited to the Americanized options. I haven't explored much beyond the stuff I grew up eating. I plan to change that up soon. Joy Yee has a few locations around Chicago and I find them to be pretty consistent. ..both in food quality and inconsistent friendliness. Lbvs. The Orange Chicken is my tried and true go to dish. It's particularly good when I have the time to dine in. Each location is spotless and the smoothies will make you feel like the fried calories are balanced out. Check em out and let me know what you think.

I like this location far more than their Chinatown location. It could be that this location is newer, but the quality and flavors seem to be better? I've only ordered delivery a couple times, but I'm glad this is closer to me than Chinatown. They were nice enough to call to lmk they didn't have something and ask what I'd want instead. Japanese Tofu with 2 Mushrooms and Basil String Beans & Tofu were good but a tad too saucy and salty. Governor's Chicken was sweet, not spicy, and I would've liked the breading to be crispy. Great combo lunch portions- comes with soup and egg roll. I was disappointed with the Thai Spicy Basil Chow Fun- tasted no different than a regular Chow Fun. Hot and Sour Soup was as expected in taste but too much soup- I would've liked more egg, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc. The Vietnamese Fried Pork Egg Rolls were better than most- I believe they have taro inside! The Avocado Freeze is my favorite here; I've yet to find it better elsewhere!

Wow what a surprise to find this mini location! Was looking for a last minute place to eat close by that wasn't fast food and remembered a friend telling me this just opened. Same old Joy Yees. Same old delicious Pan Asian Cuisine. I had to get my favorite dish here, the Korean BBQ short ribs over rice. Just something about the way its seasoned never gets old. I've been having this dish for over 20 yrs now and it's still one of my favorites. Tenderly cooked and just bursting with flavor. Also had a taste of the kimchee fried rice and that was tasty as well. Inside, it's not as big as the one on Halsted. So not good for large groups. Our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 kids so we were fine. Also the fact that it was an hour away from closing and no one was in there dining in helped too. This location probably sits about 15 to 20 and anymore than that would be too much. They have the full menu for food available along with all the smoothies and Boba you could want. I will definitely be back. This location is a lot closer to me than all their other ones so I expect to be frequenting here a lot.

I am neither a big rice eater or red meat eater, but one faithful night I was craving both. I have been to several of the local Joy Yee's locations, but this was my first time ordering from the Roscoe location, and boy was it good! The signature Tomato and Beef or Beef and Tomato dish? Chef's kiss. Was fresh and flavorful. Great portion. Prepared quick. Delicious! Highly recommend you try it!

I've been to the Joy Yee, in China Town, a thousand times and had a craving for Chinese. The restaurant was really quiet for dine in guests, but service was fast. The portion size was really really big. My plate was overflowing! I got the garlic chicken with noodles and it tasted perfect.

Grilled Chicken Kimchi. Flat. Out. Disgusting.

This is supposed to be "Grilled Chicken Kimchi". The chicken does not look grilled nor does it resemble chicken in ANY shape, form or fashion. The "chicken" smells of ammonia and the dish is just plain rancid. I HIGHLY recommend people to stay FAR away from this place as you simply don't know WTF they are passing off as food.

We started with the brussel sprouts and followed it with the lemongrass beef lollipops, Wagu crispy rice, spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy tale of two tunas roll, and the massaman scallops. Everything tasted so good but the brussel sprouts and crispy rice are definitely dishes that are a MUST! The brussel sprouts came in a pretty decent portion - enough for 4 people to split. The crisp rice comes with four pieces and we did two Wagu and two spicy tuna...the Wagu were my favorite. The meat was so tender and basically melted in my mouth. For dessert we shared the Ridiculous. Since I was celebrating a birthday, they also brought out a special coconut cake dessert. When the waitress found out it was my golden birthday she brought us shots on the house too! Food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent - shoutout to M for making my special day even more memorable! The vibe was also great - classy but comfortable.

We started off with the spicy salmon crispy rice, which came with 4 pieces and was incredibly well cooked and crispy indeed. We also tried the sweet potato caterpillar, which contained asian pear, avocado, black garlic teriyaki, and red pepper puree, truly a unique dish. For our main entrees, we tried the massaman scallops, which came with 4 scallops, curry, corn, okra, squash, and lime, which were beautifully cooked and complimented by the vegetables. We also tried the longevity crab noodles, which were a bit rich and tasty but short on crab. Lastly, we enjoyed a special birthday dessert not on the menu, which was bibingka with ube butter. We also tried the mochi, which was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful ambiance and nicer meal in the West Loop.

The locals don't like Tao for whatever reason. I thought everything was delicious! The presentation, ambience, all of it. Loved it. Now, we had a reservation. Even with the reservation, waited 1hr to be seated. Insane. There are no "walk-ins" for this place. They are booked solid. Another thing, they have the smallest tables known to man. Because they're trying to maximize the amount of guests they can host at a time, they have these little tiny tables that you can't fit all your drinks and your food on simultaneously. I like to spread out at dinner, and not feel cramped. You can literally pick the food off of the guest table next to you because you're so close to them, and your table is so tiny, your wine glass or your champagne glass is always on the verge of hitting the floor, because you can't fit your sushi on the table at the same time. That was crazy work. But even still, being here made me really excited. This place is nice, nice. I can't explain it. They have fake dragon flies on the ceiling lanterns, like, come on! Nice touch. This place is huge too. But even still, you have no space. They have a night club upstairs as well! I mean come on. I booked the reservation late to go to the club on the 2bd floor after, but I was too tired. I will definitely come back here anytime I'm in CHI. Loved it. I would not recommend if you have no patience, get angry when the waitress is too busy with too many tables to remember all your items, if you are not open to waiting 1hr to be seated after your reservation time, and if you need space to stretch out when eating. Even with those cons, I enjoyed it. If the wait time wasn't so horrible, and the seating wasn't so tight. 10 stars.

We went to today for Father's Day, and the brunch experience left a lot to be desired. We weren't given utensils, and it took time to find a server to bring them to us and we weren't given knives (the brunch offered red meat dishes). We saw our server twice and the worst part was the Asian female server working ignored me twice when I was asking for the check and when I finally got her attention for the bill she never brought it. This experience left such a sour taste in my mouth. Tao Chicago puts the whole Tao brand to shame and I'll be telling both my schools community and international friends to avoid at all costs and stick with the Las Vegas and Los Angeles locations.
