I went there twice on the recommendation of a friend who always uses this place. The first time, I asked if they could redesign the shirt to make the hem asymmetrical, but was told, "I can't make those kinds of design changes. I can only hem or do similar alterations." The way she said it made me doubt her skills, so I just had her shorten it simply. The second time, I brought in a skirt and asked if she could replace a broken zipper, but she said, "I can't do that." Does she only do basic straight stitching as a hobby, despite having a signage up? Or maybe the things my friend asks for are more difficult, and she just doesn't like new customers. If that's the case, she should write it on the sign. If you're going for the first time, I wouldn't recommend! It'll ruin your mood for the whole day. read more

Very unprofessional service and attitude. Came with a dress to alter and she had me try it on, then, when I came out she told me she was too busy and didn't have time to alter it? I said I was in no hurry and she said that she was going to go on vacation for a long time. So I left, with my friend, and we both were completely puzzled. She had done a job for me 2 months prior and was more friendly the first time around. Found Crossroads Alterations run by a very nice Korean woman who has now done 3 items for me who speaks great English and does a terrific job for a great price who is also very prompt. tl;dr: fast, quality work at very reasonable prices. Took some pants to Jin for hemming and a shirt that just didn't fit quite right in the arms. I put on the pants for her, she measured out/confirmed where I wanted them to hit on me (just off the floor), and pinned them. Great - I didn't expect any issues with a simple hem on pants. It was $15 for a very nice double hem in similar style to the original. Then, we got to the shirt. She questioned my request to make the armholes just a little bigger (they were a little tight and constricting on a sleeveless blouse, but I had kept the shirt bc the bigger size was too big everywhere else, and it was on sale so I figured I could have the armholes adjusted). I explained this best I could to her, and she pointed out that the right armhole was actually ok. She was worried that she shouldn't make them much bigger. Then, we both looked at the left armhole, and it was quite snug. She said, let's look at it when you take it off. She compared the two, and indeed, the left opening was not the same as the right. So, we agreed that she should make the left the same as the right. I figured this strange request would be pricier than a routine-type request, but it was only $5! She filled out the slip, and told me I could pick them up the very next day! I expected at least a week wait, if not more. I was able to catch her right before she took her lunch the next day to get my pants and shirt. Both look great. I will definitely be back as I tend to have a lot of alterations done on my clothes. read more

I called the business and asked what the turn around time would be to get a suit altered, the lady that answered replied "I don't know" and hung up. I proceeded to the business to see if anyone else there could assist me and despite arriving prior to 4:15 and their posted closing time is 5PM I was waved away By a lady inside. I felt it was rude and unprofessional to respond to a potential customer like that, and ultimately the staff did not even attempt to help me or greet me. read more

This is the best alterations place in HI. The seamstress doesn't speak English super well but just show them what you want done. Their prices are reasonable too (like super cheap for Hawaii!!) I needed straps added to a dress and they measured me and did everything in less than a day for ~ $15. read more

I've been coming to Jin's Alterations for over 10+ years now. There is a nice Korean lady that runs the store, and she has done all my alterations for my pants leg. This service is invaluable to me since I'm vertically challenged! :) When I originally came here 10+ years ago, she use to charged only $8.00 for a pair of pants. Since then, the price has slowly crept up........... Now I pay $10.00, but still a great deal! I think the going rate at a lot of other alteration places charge around $12.00 (to do a pants leg alteration), so the price she charges is a bargain! She does HIGH QUALITY work, charges a REASONABLE PRICE, & she is FAST! I just took in 3 pairs of pants today.............and she will have it ready for me by tomorrow. How's that for service? The only thing that is not so good about this place is - there is No Parking. To get to Jin's, you must use the metered parking stalls.........or the alternative.........when I "no moa coins" in da pocket..........you can do the "Good 'ol Hawaiian Trick" - where I park my car at Don Quijote's parking lot, look around to make sure no security guard sees me...........then make a bee line to Jin's. I've been going to Jin's for years and never had any problems. Her prices are very affordable ($13 to hem pants). Unlike other places, the one thing that keeps me going back is she's always very accommodating and will have your alterations done whenever you need it by. Her shop is located on Kanunu Street behind of Don Quijote. The only drawback is parking can be a problem at times. read more

The Korean lady who owns this is very nice and her prices are very affordable. She is much cheaper than the other alteration shops. She was also very sympathetic when I came in with my very clingy baby. He had just made a year old and with his separation anxiety, could not bear to be even a foot apart from me. She tried to play with him and distract him and when that didn't work, she patiently worked around him, pinning up my pants hems while he clung to my legs. My only advice for this place is that if your clothes are very expensive or if you wear high end designer labels, I might go elsewhere. I bring my work and play clothes here and she does a good job but with the designer stuff, you can tell if you look closely that it was altered. For high end clothes, I take them to Linda Fujioka's Alterations on Beretania. Even though Linda charges a fortune, when you get your clothes back, you can't even tell it had been altered--it's that seamless. Still, I recommend Jin's to my friends all the time because of her great prices and customer service. read more

It was a steal that I was almost prepared to wear it as is. So glad I went to Jin's. She hemmed that shirt and another. Her prices are very reasonable and her work is good. I finally realized that clothes needs to be altered after bought, and Jin has been great in doing so for me. She has altered pants, shorts, and even my swim trunks as I'm over shorts going past knees. I'm an adult for heaven's sake. I was super impressed by the quality of work and how fast the nice lady had my dresses fixed. Not knowing where to go for sewing and alteration, I Yelped and Jin's Alteration was nearby. I called and explained my clothing situation and she said she could do it the same day and to bring my dresses down. Perfect! I had a few dresses that had seams to sew and buttons repaired and she did it the same day, and within 2 hours! One dress I even had the sleeve altered a little bit by sewing up the arm slip openings and she made it look even better than it did before! Just went here for the first time today. Absolutely wonderful customer service and alterations work- came in to fix the clasp on a pair of pants. The lady was so nice and fixed my pants right there and then. She was finished within five minutes and only charged me $3! I'm a shorty who needs majority of my clothing altered and I have finally found a great place to take care of all my tailoring needs. Korean lady is very nice. Prices are very reasonable. Location is convenient. Street parking is plentiful. Turn around time is super quick. Lunch break is about noon-ish for approximately an hour, call before if you're planning to stop by around that time just to make sure they'll be open. read more
