Nikki's Alterations has been my go-to tailor for the past several years now. I usually go in to get my pants hemmed, and Nori's work is great. She's located in Chinatown on the second floor of the Lee & Young building, fronting N King St (just after Maunakea St if you're headed east/diamond head). There is a code to get in, but if you call/text her ahead of time, she will let you know what it is. Reasonable pricing and a turnaround of no longer than a week for hemming, not sure about other items but shes really good about texting you when your items are ready. read more

Best alterations shop in town! There is really none better. As I am a wide individual, having a good tailor is a must. Nori (the amazing tailor/seamstress that runs this shop), is awesome! She has helped me with hemming numerous pairs of pants and even has helped me with more complicated tasks like shortening the back yoke on some jeans (it's not easy being thicc). My coworker also recently took some snow pants to be altered, and he was impressed with the quality of Nori's work. This shop is located behind a secured glass door, on the second floor of a building on King Street. I recommend calling ahead to make sure you can get in. I usually street park on either Maunakea or Smith. I know street parking isn't the best, but believe me, this shop is worth it. read more

I have been bringing clothes here to be altered for a few years now. The owner is very sweet and efficient when you need your clothes to be altered or repaired. Call ahead of time to get the code for entry to the building. Her office is the first door on the second floor. There was a short wait while she finished helping another customer who was hemming her pants. She seemed like a repeat customer, because Nikki quoted them $10 per pants. She quoted me $15 per pants to hem 3 jeans, and $15 to replace the elastic for another pants when I called. She takes cash, check, or Venmo and said it would take 1 week. There is a fitting room to change in and she measured my pants and markedcthe hems with white chalk. No pins. She also gave some good suggestions. After I dropped my pants off last week Wed, she asked if I could wait until 12/27 due to the holidays. I'll edit my review after I pick up my items. read more

Nikki's Alterations has moved! She is now located around the corner from Lin's on 90 N King Street (right before corner of Maunakea/King). It's a locked door with a keypad - call her to see if she is in and if she can let you up for alterations. Phone number is still the same - posted picture below. Nori (owner) is fast and efficient. I recently brought 3 pairs of pants to her and she hemmed them in a few days (this depends on her queue, of course). So if you have alterations, give enough lead time - especially during prom and wedding season. She is SO WORTH IT and so good at what she does. I needed a towel repaired. Kind of ridiculous because it's an old towel but it has a little bit of sentimental value and it was an easy fix. I brought my item over to Nikki and she said it would be ready in two days. It ended up being ready the next day and she called me to let me know to come pick it up. I paid five dollars to have my towel seems re-sewn which was totally worth it. I have a sewing machine, but I hardly know how to sew and honestly, it seems to take more time than I care to deal with. She also was very honest when I brought in a tank top that had a strap that was a little fragile. She told me it would cost more than it was probably worth. I appreciate her honesty. What with her clean location and efficient service, I would recommend her for your sewing needs. read more

LOVE this seamstress!!! She's incredibly talented. I've had lots of little things done, but once I had her bring in a gala dress that required her to remove the entire zipper and cinch the whole thing and remove part of the tail and hem it and add straps etc etc it was a great undertaking that took an entire day and came out beautifully!! We called a couple alterations places before finding Nikki's and we're so glad we found her. I had to get a suit tailored for a wedding. Since it was my first time I was worried about paying too much, but her prices were very reasonable and she was so friendly and made us feel so welcome. Nikki altered a bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding and did a wonderful job! The dress had a cowl neckline, which was way to big and needed to be taken in. I went to Nikki after several tailors on island said they would not be able to take in that specific neckline. Nikki was super nice and friendly and got the alteration done in within a week! AMAZING! I have found my go-to alteration place. Needed pants hemmed for a 5:30pm dinner. Called at 12 and asked if she did same day. She replied, "What do you have? How many?" I explained that I had just one pair of pants (not denim). She said, "well, I'm a little busy, but I can do." I arrived at 1pm, dropped off the pants, had pho 2 blocks away (@ To Chau--my fav), and the pants were done in 30 minutes. Upon paying, it was $7.00 even. Unheard of: Quick, quality, and dirt cheap (plus no same-day fee). Not sure of her hours, but she mentioned she was going to be open until 6pm that day (which was a Saturday). Quick tip: The storefront is not on Mauna Kea St. You need to walk into a little in-door hallway located near the corner of Mauna Kea and King. See my pics for further explanation. read more

Yelp 100 Review Challenge 2015: 88/100 My fiance can be quite the procrastinator sometimes and with a special event coming up, leave it to him to wait for the very last moment to get his pants hemmed. It was a Thursday when he gave me two (chino) pants to be hemmed about 4 inches each. I had called here and there to ask for pricing and turnover time because...did I mention we needed these pants by 5:30am that Saturday morning?! No luck in same-day turnover and if they did offer same-day, it was going to cost me an arm and probably both my legs! Because I work downtown, I decided to Yelp around and Nikki's Alteration popped up. I called her around 9am and she promised she could have the pair hemmed by Friday evening, which was cutting it close for us, but procrastinators don't deserve to be picky! I made the 10 minute walk to Chinatown and thanks to the Yelp photos I was easily able to find this place next to a flower shop. Upon entering, she kindly greeted me and I gave her the pants which were already measured to be hemmed. After she had a look at the pants she asked me what time I finished work, THAT DAY and said to come back after work and it should be done. Same day turnover?! No extra charge?! I must be dreaming! So sure enough I headed back to Nikki's after work (8 hours later) and the two pants were perfectly hemmed. She charged me $14 total for both pants, that's $7/pants!!! OMG unbelievable. Not only is she super friendly and sweet but her service is professional too. Next time I need alterations done, quick (hopefully I won't procrastinate again, but let's be real here) you bet I am going to pay Nikki's Alteration a visit! p.s. When I arrived at 4:30pm the main gate/door was closed, which led me to believe Nikki's Alterations were closed, but instead you have to walk through the flower shop to get to Nikki's. read more

Nori is an excellent seamstress! She can mend, alter almost any clothing to include retaining the original jeans hem.

Thanks to fellow yelpers, the direction to Nikki's is super helpful. It is alley way behind Lin's Lei Shop on Maunakea. Nori is a very helpful lady and does great work. Her shop is tiny and has a small changing/ storage closet to put your clothes on so she can adjust and hem. My alteration request is to take in my denim skirt. Since it is a button-front design, Nori suggested to 2 small pinches on the back of the skirt to narrow the waist line. It came out perfect! It didn't have any awkward creases in the back and it fits great! All for $7. She does get busy at times so make sure you set your expectation with her when you drop off your garment. Parking is a challenge in the area to drop off and pick up, but it's a great walking distance from downtown. read more

While working, I tore the back pocket of my pants. Looking through Yelp, I found Nikki's and read the reviews. I liked what I read. The next day I took my pants and asked about repair of the pocket and hemming the legs 1". She said I could pick it up the next day. I work downtown and have parking so I didn't need to worry about that part (Maunakea Street has limited parking). The next day I went down around lunchtime. My pants were ready. The stitching looked better than the original one. Service is great, prices are reasonable and the quality is awesome. read more

This is my go to alterations store. Located in the heart of Chinatown, Nikki is an excellent seamstress, friendly, and w/ great prices! Her and her mother seem to run the store and when you walk in, you can tell w/ the one million filled bags in their store, that she must have a ton of customers. I've searched years to find a seamstress I trust w my clothes and being the midget that I am, I need to hem a lot of stuff! I initially tested her out by bringing in a pair of jeans and asking her to keep the original hem on them...that's usually my test at places. Lol. She totally aced it and her low prices gave her a ton of brownie points. She has a little makeshift changing station in the back so you don't have to pin everything yourself at home or stand semi naked in the small store, while changing into various pieces of clothing. She's also usually very prompt but if she's a bit delayed, she will let you know. I think I usually pick stuff up within a week, but I'm sure you can ask for earlier. She recently fixed a top and a dress that I thought were completely ruined and looked like a nightmare to fix...don't throw precious stuff in the washing machine, people! When the entrance to their place looks locked, just go through Lin's flower shop to get to them. Great services, friendly, nice mom&pop store, and great prices...that's it! read more
