The only complaint is that the seats need to be replaced. When we sat down, the seats basically sank down. The food service and ambiance were all excellent at Jinya Ramen bar. This was our first time at this business. We were actually going to another Thai restaurant down the street but got lost and this looks good instead. Everything tasted really good. The Ramen soup was a seafood pork face which was different than what we previously experienced and the wheat noodles weren't my favorite, but they were still OK. The sushi and other appetizers we had were really good as well. We stopped in here while visiting Athens. We had eaten at the jinya in sandy springs and enjoyed it so decided to try this one. Parking was a little challenging but that is to be expected in Athens on a Friday night! We all ordered ramen and enjoyed our choices. The broth was much richer than I remembered and the portions were generous. I actually was unable to finish my bowl which is unusual for me. Our waiter was prompt and polite. This Japanese style ramen spot in Downtown, Athens. Always makes me happy. I always order the Tonkatsu black and the Chicken ramen. They're always so good and never disappointing. I remember when this Jinya location first opened ! I don't remember anything but such a happy feeling after eating there for the first time that same week. It was such an amazing experience with such good ramen. The service is good, sometimes can be a little bit slow because it gets full quick or sometimes just a new worker. I don't know how the tables work when it comes to assigning but I wouldn't say it's poor service whatsoever. I'm just there for the food. Overall 5/5. I've always loved Jinya, this being the first spot I've ever tried. And now that they're expanding, I am excited to try the others ! After a great game at my Alma Mater of course I had to have Jinya! (they didn't have this when I was at UGA). On a busy game day Saturday we were seated at a cozy booth in under 10 minutes. I ordered the Original Tonkotsu with added brussel sprouts and I was not at all disappointed. Now I did add a few pinches of chili oil, which the server was very polite about providing for us. The ramen was nice and steaming hot how- I like my soup served, and the crispy seasoned brussels were a really nice touch, as they were cooked to perfection. Jinya is the perfect stop after a chilly day game and filled me up - I couldn't finish! The servers and staff were kind and prompt, as well as attentive. JINYA never fails to deliver and the Athens location is no exception. The ambiance is always great at the restaurant with a intimate feel and overall good vibes. If you're interested in getting a drink this is a great place to go with a very large bar. The service was also great. The food came out quickly and the waitress was very nice and helpful. The food is just outstanding. Before I had ever tried JINYA I was always hesitant as ramen just seemed like a food for a dorm room or a late night but JINYA knows how to do it right. I always get the spicy chicken ramen and love it and recommend it to everyone. I also love the toppings/sauce choices as you can spice up your bowl or just add some different flavors to it. Went to Jinya for the first time in a minute. Came on a Saturday night so of course there was a wait. Luckily we ended up not having to wait for too long. Seating is always a hit or miss with Jinya. It's a small location so having your own booth or table just depends on how early you get there or how lucky you are. We were seated at one of the longer tables where we shared the location with two other groups. It wasn't uncomfortable or packed though so we were ok. I ordered the usual shrimp wonton ramen. Our order took forever to come out and come to find out the kitchen never received it but our waitress and the manager were very apologetic and accommodating and fixed the issue right away. Overall, I'd give the food a 3.5/5. The wontons were great, wasn't a fan of the broth this day. Jinya is a favorite in Athens so I'd definitely recommend still trying it. I went with the tonkotsu black ramen which was a beautifully fragrant bowl with pork, egg, garlic, and some added spices. I asked for thick noodles instead of the thin ones and they were able to accommodate. The ramen was delicious. I rate it highly and would definitely come back here. Average price is around $17-20 for a bowl so a little on the more expensive side. Very tasty tho. read more

I worked here right after it opened, so it was fun to return to my old "stomping grounds," per se. If anything, it's only gotten better. Our server (doubling as the bartender) was super attentive the entire meal, and did a great job explaining the menu to my boyfriend and suggesting new menu items. Our appetizer of edamame was great, as were the entrées. I got the spicy chicken ramen, while my boyfriend got the impossible rice bowl. Both dishes tasted great and came out quickly. The ambiance is as cute as I remember it, so kudos to that. It is slightly pricy at about $14-16 per dish, but that's expected from a high quality (and quantity!) Japanese ramen place. My friends and I came here for dinner this past Saturday night. It was very busy, due to UGA rush and freshman move-in. We had to wait for a table for about 20-25 minutes which wasn't terrible. As soon as we got the text that our table was ready we were seated. Our server was super nice and energetic despite the busy crowd. Don't forget the sauce!!! Visted this establishment on a Saturday evening. It was a tad bit crowded, but they were able to fit us in. We ordered the spicy shrmp appetizer, which was pretty tasty. I ordered a lemon drop cocktail, and it was delicious!! Now, onto the food. My daughter had the kids' meal, which comes with fried chicken, a rice bowl, French fries, a ramen bowl , ice cream, and a blow pop. Hands down, one of the best kids' meals I've ever seen. My daughter absolutely loved it. I ordered the chicken wonton ramen bowl. The broth was pretty bland; I asked for some type of sauce. I was given a few, but I picked the sweet chili sauce, and it helped A LOT!! It's unfortunate that I had to request a sauce to enjoy my meal. The service was pretty good. Love it! For something a little bit different yet fantastic, the Jinya Ramen Bar is it. Having never tried this style of food before I walked in a complete novice and at the mercy of Rianna, the friendly hostess who I put all my faith in to order my dinner. Rianna told me her favorite was the spicy vegan with chili oil on the side, no tofu with sub chicken wonton. It was so good I ate it all. And, there was a lot to eat. The chili oil on the side acted like a giant dip where the ramen noodles and chicken went to swim. Super tasty, not salty nor over the top spicy with nicely prepped ramen noodles. First of all- the food and service was wonderful. Absolutely no complaints there. We started with the shrimp tempura and the crispy tuna rice cake appetizers. So good. I could've eaten 30 of those shrimp. But we split between four people so I only got a couple. You get 3 tuna rice things with the order. Food came. Everyone got ramen and it did not disappoint. I couldn't eat it all and took about half home. It warms up well. I can't remember our servers name but he was fantastic. He served the back of the restaurant. Here's the complaint. And it's all about the hostess. We walked in and asked for a table for 4. Thru have a really big bar table in the front close to the kitchen. She asked if that was okay. My party said yes but I wasn't sure. We walked over and I didn't like the table. I saw one available in the back and asked if we could have that instead. She looked at me and said with FULL ON ATTITUDE- " that's why I asked". Ok fine. Am I not allowed to change my mind? I got close to the table and saw one that I would rather have instead. Why was that a big deal? She acted like I put her out because she had to walk 15 more steps and carry the menus over. I told her the other table looked better. She sat us and thank god I never had to deal with her again. So I'll go back because the food is that good but that hostess is a deterrent. Our waiter was attentive and helpful with the spice recommendation. The pork chashu bowl was okay, the pork was a little bland and it was mostly rice with little toppings. The tonkotsu ramen was good with a rich broth that had a good kick to it. The level 5 was definitely spicier than most, which was surprising since the highest level is 10. The salmon poke tacos were alright just mostly tomatoes and very little salmons. The pan fried gyozas has a good texture they were just on the smaller side. In the essence of time, I'll keep this short. Please save your money and eat literally anywhere else. The best part of this experience was the friendly customer service & the edamame and the Sprite that I ordered. Everything else sucked, no really. This is the worst restaurant I've been to in a very long time. Maruchan Ramen has more flavor than what I was served when I ordered the Premium Red Tonkotsu. Which had two tiny slivers of smoked pork, an okay soy sauce egg, and absolutely NO FLAVOR beyond a general spiciness (and spiciness alone is not a flavor). I hoped the jalapeño butter corn would save the day, it didn't. It was really salty and besides the corn and sautéed onion flavor, didn't have much else to offer. We tried dessert, but that was a mistake. The mochi green tea icecream we were served was still frozen and unfortunately it was freezer burnt. The staff were kind enough to take it off the bill without any issues but it makes me sad when even premade frozen dishes go wrong. At the end of the experience, I feel like the staff felt bad for us. They knew we weren't happy with the food but there was nothing they could do and we didn't hold them accountable for that. In fact, we were very friendly with the staff. The blame lies with the chain for having such terrible food to begin with. UPDATE: The owner reached out directly to me about my experience and I appreciate the consideration they gave to my concerns. So I'm adding another star, because when restaurant owners actively work to address issues in their stores, it reflects positively on the establishment.
