After taking my first bite my initial thought was 'I will never order this again". I got the pork belly rice bowl and I absolutely and fully regret eating it. I feel gross and it was such a let down. If y'all know me, you know I'm big on being greeted within the first few seconds of walking into an establishment. The gal didn't say anything to me, just stood at the register waiting for me to order. I asked her what she would recommended between the pork belly bowl or the curry chicken noodle soup and she just said it just depends on if I wanted noodles or rice.. that should Have been my first clue. I hate leaving bad reviews... but this is not my first visit here. The first time I ordered the dumplings with chili sauce, and the older lady was super sweet and it was super delicious. My only qualms were how FILTHY the trash can was and how empty the place was... I was the only customer. It was the same this go around too... no customers, and the trash can was STILL FILTHY!! (And I know they're not busy enough to not get up off their butts and clean!!!) I digress.... The reason I feel grossed out is because the fried egg was barely fried, and there was no seasoning or pizazz to it at all... just a sunny side up on rice and pork belly. The pork belly itself was not fresh. It must have been cooked either earlier in the day or a few days before. I know this because of how the fat in the pork belly tasted. It wasn't cooked well either... there was no crisp to the top part whatsoever and the fatty part.... Well that was the grossest part. It was that gummy slimy texture and that is anything but pleasant. I'm really hoping this place turns itself around.. because I do dig the vibe, but they need to get un lazy and start caring a little more. And I'm not seeing their vision... are they a donut shop.... Hot dog shop... or Asian food...??? I think they would attract more business with a more definitive theme. Like I said, I hate leaving poor reviews, but I'm doing so in hopes they see it. Indonesian fare is definitely not what I was thinking about today, but after living in Atlanta and knowing there are a lot of culinary choices, I decided to run by after seeing a new addition on the Mochinut Athens Menu -- they have Indonesian curry chicken on the menu, along with the Indonesian version of hainanese soy-sauce chicken! I was not disappointed except that Chef V said she had to stop doing the Indonese chicken (look it up) and make everything white meat for the locals in Athens. I hope that changes. The soy ginger sauce was excellent. The curry chicken is a definite try for those who would like to sample something different and hot and tasty! In short: Try the spicy dumplings, the curry chicken and the soy sauce chicken dishes here and maybe have a nice pandam mochi donut at the end! read more

I really loved my Milk Tea I've been trying to find my favorite bubble tea place in Athens. The flavor of the tea is nice and the boba was a good consistency - not too firm and not too soft. I'll probably ask for less ice next time. The Caramel Churro Mochinut was excellent!! Service was excellent as well. read more

I wanted to really like this place as I have passed by it a few times in Athens. The place is empty and very humid inside, but the place was nicely decorated. However, the corndog I got was just straight up bad. It tasted sour as if the ingredients were going bad, and I have had corndogs previously in Duluth but something was off about this one. My friend had a bite of mine and had to spit it right out in the trash. I called and tried to ask about the issue and I usually don't ever call to complain in general, but I wanted a refund because it was so rancid tasting. The whole time the worker did not put me on mute when she said she would talk to her manager, so I could hear the worker accusing me of lying. When she got back on the phone with me they told me they couldn't give me a refund. 6$ isn't something I am willing to die lying about. I really wanted to support their business, but honestly maybe don't treat your customers as if 6$ is something worth lying about. I could already tell something was off when the sauce bottles were clogged up from dried sauce. I hope this business will do better in the future as I see there were a lot of more positive reviews from my own. However, I cannot say I will ever return with the attitude and the way things were handled. I wish them the best though. read more

Experience and customer service were great! The tiramisu donut was really good. However, I have it 3 stars bc the other two items I ordered (looked like veggie pakora and empanadas) were super greasy and oily that I couldn't even finish my food and had stomach pain the rest of the day. Finally got to try and visit the new Mochinut in Athens! What a fun and cool little place, it has a large seating area and everything is pretty open. The shop even has a fuse-ball table. I tried to Churro donut and it was an interesting texture, I typically don't like donuts but I'd try another flavor from here! It's a very fluffy but dense donut. The boba tea is also very good and comes in a unique packaging. They only have 6-7 flavors, but I can't wait to come by to again to try the coffee flavor read more

Came here because I was craving Korean Corn Dogs and this place didn't disappoint! Each one was crispy and hot when it came out so you know it's fresh. I really enjoy the half and half because of the string pull. They only have one sauce but it was still good. The mochinut a we're so soft and chewy. I think my favorite one was the chocolate but they were all delicious! The front desk lady was very nice and we made conversation. She said she drives 3 hours every day to work--the dedication! We've been to the location in Decatur so we were expecting the same quality food in Athens. We were very disappointed. The donuts were okay. I went to mochinut last Friday which was a couple days after the grand opening. I purchased a caramel churro donut, a strawberry donut, a matcha white chocolate donut, and a chocolate beignet donut. The other two flavors available looked great as well. They do rotating flavors and from my understanding, will always have original available. It was very easy to order and I felt that the price per donut was very reasonable especially for something so unique and new for the area. I did not buy bubble tea but they had a few flavors available which all sounded very good and I would love to try it. The donuts tasted really good. Not overly sweet like a donut you would get anywhere else and the unique chewy texture was very pleasant. I will be going back again soon to try even more flavors and I can not wait until they add the Korean corn dogs to the menu. read more

This is a really unique spot in town, probably one of my favorite Asian places in Athens. The doughnuts are really good but what makes this place special is the food. The store serves a bunch of additional food like curry and chicken dishes with pandan mochi scallion pancakes (my personal favorite). read more

Fantastic addition to the east side's burgeoning asian corridor. Indonesian and Pan Asian dishes in a casual setting. Ignore the mochinut doughnuts as they are fine but don;t compete with dishes like pork belly bao or chicken wontons in peanut sauce or curry soup. Every dish is on the mark, no too spicy but flavorful. The service is attentive and to your table by Chef Vi herself who cares passionately and is always innovating. The drinks too are superb such as blue lychee, dragonfruit and my favorite, the rare Yuzu an lemon only from Japa with a real charge of refreshment. You wont be sorry, go today! read more

This place is a truly hidden gem! At the end of the summer, a new owner, who is incredibly enthusiastic and friendly, bought the franchise and completely transformed it--so disregard any Yelp reviews posted prior to August 2023. She kept all the old Mochinut menu items, which are now significantly fresher and better. But most important, she introduced an entirely new menu of her homemade Indonesian dishes, in effect opening a new Indonesian restaurant. (Fortunately the Mochinut corporation is amazingly open to allowing franchises to expand the menu as they see fit.) My family had been to Mochinut only once or twice prior to this transformation, and were never particularly impressed. But now we are all regulars. Everything we've ordered off the Indonesian menu has been great! We especially love the Chicken Curry Soup, the MALA chicken soup (very spicy!), both the chicken and tofu coconut rice, the chicken BAO (the spam bao, which I was skeptical about, is also remarkably good), and all the dumplings, including and especially the Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings. Recently she's been offering a Pork Belly Rice Bowl, which I had today and is amazing. We live on the Eastside, so this is a local place for us (happily), but it's worth traveling across town for! read more
