The food is always delicious. This is not the issue. This review is about their price gauging for grilled chicken. My husband ordered the enchiladas verde with grilled chicken. The server told him there would be an upcharge for his meal. She could not tell us how much it was, nor was this up charge printed anywhere on the very busy, hard to read menu. When we received the check, the upcharge was $8 for a $15 meal of three enchiladas. This is an egregious and ridiculous charge for an item they already sell in numerous other dishes. It's almost the cost of a second meal. It's ridiculous the server's response was "I just push the button" and they had supposedly no idea. Our second meal - combo 10 with grilled chicken. (Two tacos, rice and beans). This $12.99 combo was upcharged to $21. There is a taco plate item on the menu - two grilled chicken tacos, rice and beans for $14.99. After we paid our bill, I asked for a manager - and he adjusted the bill to this price. I emailed via the website with no response. Clearly they have gotten too big to reply or care. We chose this location because our fav Mexican restaurant in Athens was closed on Sunday. Never again. read more

This mexican restaurant is very good. My husband and I have been here many times and have never had a bad experience. The food and drinks are excellent. The food is pipping hot and the sides are served in metal dishes that are hot to the touch, so be careful. I highly recommend the margaritas. I've tried several, and they are all great! The staff are friendly and professional. This place gets crowded on the weekend during peak hours and on Sunday after church since Athens Church is in close proximity. So there can be a lengthy wait time especially with larger parties. The seating is varied with a mix of indoor booths and outdoor tables. The design concept is half indoor and half open air patio seating. The decor is classy and very pretty with cactus plants. There are some TVs, so you can watch sports during your meal. It is our favorite Mexican restaurant, and we do not go else where since we've been here. read more

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant is new in Athens, but the restaurant is well known in the metro atlanta area. This was my second time visiting, but each time I've had a great experience. The restaurant is decorated so nicely as well and is very clean. I typically always order the verde enchiladas, which is always delicious. The chips are also fresh. Also the frozen margaritas can be flavored, I always like the guava flavor. La Parrilla has some of the best Tex mex food and drinks in Athens. read more

Let's just say I thought it was another La Parrilla like the one on Gaines Road. It isn't haha!! Going in, it felt like I wasn't in Athens anymore. We were immediately sat, greeted, ordered drinks, and were brought some of the best chips and salsa I've ever had (salsa's a bit spicy). I ordered the De Cerdo and Enchiladas Verde, and it was more than enough food. They also have tex-mex food options like bowls. Food didn't take too long, but try and hold off on eating the entire chips and salsa. It's a perfect place for a date or even just a casual dinner with friends and family. So excited to have La Parrilla restaurant in Athens. They have done a really nice job with the bar area and the outdoor eating area. They have the best chips and salsa. I ordered the combination number 1. Two enchiladas with a taco and rice. I got mine with the beef. It was really good. The enchilada sauce is smoky and good. My wife got the ranchero burrito with melted cheese on top. It came with rice and ranchero beans. I added the supreme option of lettuce, cheese, tomato, and sour cream to share. I want to start this by saying I love La Parrilla and have been eating here for years all around Georgia. However today they were just terrible. Slow unenthusiastic service. Pictured are my beef nachos. The dish only has three ingredients and there was zero cheese and a small scoop beef for $10.50. No apologies from server by the time I got the shot glass of cheese they gave me to fix it, all of my food was cold. My wife adores the bean soup but it was so salty she couldn't eat it. They had a bad day, manager needs to step up on their service. read more

La Parilla is what you expect from a Mexican establishment of this size. Its not a small, focused, or traditional taqueria. It is a really good American style Mexican restaurant. If youre adventurous, ask for some house made hot sauce. Favorites include the steak burrito (full of steak), Enchiladas Del Mar, and Enchiladas Supreme. Service is quick and attentive. Its a college town so servers are usually young. Dinners can feel rushed, at times and at times will not understand nuances of adult drink orders. read more

All the food was fresh and delicious! I got the steak con maduro tacos which I loved; the fried plantains were crispy and the steak was flavorful. I will probably ask for more cilantro and radishes next time though (personal preference). Our server, Angi, was amazing. She was so personable and attentive! The decor is vibrant and fun. Burrito ranchero is amazeballs. The meat is delicious and tender. Waiter told us they raise their own cows for their restaurants and that is reflected in the finished product for sure. Big deal for me though is while they have a full bar and access to soda water from the gun, they only give you the option to order Topo Chico which has way too much carbonation for me. So they lost the sale of a soda water. I don't expect it for free but if someone specifically requests soda water from the bar, why the heck not?? Prices are higher than average IMO but that won't keep us from going again, just not at often as we might. Ambiance is slick, not my style but I don't really care if the food it good. read more

My boyfriend got a burrito that was not even a burrito. It was chicken wrapped in tortilla wrap stuck in the oven. The chips are worse than Chili's. The beans were tasteless and the rice was overcooked and mushy. Overall there was no flavor. I got the enchiladas and they were pretty much the same. Tasteless and possibly old meat with mushy and almost questionable beans. Don't eat here. Just go to Chili's down the street for cheaper better food. read more

Food was honestly pretty fantastic, great flavor in everything, but like wowwwwwww was our service really bad, we waited 30 MINUTES, to get our order taken, some other sweet lady came and got us waters and marg orders. Then another person I think who was a manager had to help us out too because our server just obviously couldn't handle the tables, Except for the food, everything took a while to happen.
