I have heard many good things about Jinya Ramen Bar and finally had the opportunity to check it out with some coworkers. Upon walking in the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the beautiful and moody atmosphere. Taking a date here would be a great place to facilitate conversation given the overall atmosphere. The food was pretty good. The cucumber salad was decent but could probably use some more flavor and spice. It was not spicy at all and a bit bland. The aburi sushi was also quite a bit bland with too much rice and not enough salmon. The chicken yuzu shio delight ramen was the best dish I had there but it was still pretty average in terms of the ramen I have had before. The Tonkotsu (red) was perfectly rich and exploding with flavor. I enjoy spicy food and a level 4 was perfect for me, if you are not a pepper-head, I recommend a level 2. THE EGG! As someone who appreciates the complexity and soul of a well-balanced Japanese broth, I have to say JINYA Ramen in Spring Branch did not disappoint. I ordered the Tonkotsu Black, and every element of the bowl spoke to intention and craft. The broth was a rich, tonkotsu base, deeply simmered. The fresh garlic I added brought a vibrant sharpness that cut through the richness just enough to reset the palate with each bite. I went with thin noodles rather than the traditional thick, which gave the bowl a Hakata-style authenticity I appreciated. First time here at the Spring Branch, very good size restaurant and right now special ramen call Ciao Ramen, it is Italian flavor ramen. I like it. It was different but tasty. The server was good and check on us just enough time. We also got the dessert and the mochi ice cream was not worth it but the matcha tiramisu was great! With the chilly weather this week, it felt like the perfect time to stop by the Spring Branch location for some hot ramen. There are plenty of parking in the shopping plaza. The interior has the same Japanese-inspired vibe as the other locations, offering a cozy atmosphere. The menu has seen some updates since my last visit (both in variety and pricing), but you can still order some of the classics, like the Sprouting Up Ramen, off-menu. I decided to try the new Premium Tonkotsu Red (the replacement for the OG Tonkotsu Spicy), opting for a spice level of 3/10. My husband went with the classic Tonkotsu Black. Interestingly, if you order a spice level over 6, there's an additional charge. The Tonkotsu Red came with thick noodles, which in hindsight, I would have preferred to swap for the thin noodles. The broth was a bit too dominated by the spicy sauce, which overpowered the rich pork flavor I was craving. That said, the chashu and egg were both perfectly cooked. We all agreed that the Tonkotsu Black, with a little bit of the spicy sauce added on the side, was the better option. Overall, while the Tonkotsu Red wasn't quite to my taste, Jinya is still a reliable ramen chain on a cold day. Next time, I'll likely stick with the tried-and-true classics on the menu. read more

Been here once previously for Yelp's Elite event and finally got the chance to come back. We came on a weekend night with friends for dinner. Parking is plentiful in front as the plaza is quite developed now with new businesses. Jinya remains quite consistent and this location retains the feeling and flavor of its original midtown location but much closer to home. The interior is quite dark but that is consistent with the locations that I have been to (midtown, heights, Katy). The updated menu is slightly overwhelming compared to what I remember so we ordered what we were familiar with; the tonkotsu black with the thinner noodles. The prices have gone up quite a bit since COVID but unfortunately so has almost everything in the restaurant industry. The ole dependable still has the rich broth and solid flavor that I remember and the thin noodles definitely pair optimally with the rich pork broth. My wife got the spicey option (with the thicker noodles) but ultimately agreed the tonkotsu black is the way to go; there is hot sauce on the side that you can add for some spice. Overall, Jinya is a solid chain ramen spot in Houston. I haven't explored much else of the new menu but content to stick with what works and what I like. read more

I have always been a fan of Jinya and was happy to see a location opened in the SB neighborhood. It's located in the new plaza on Long Point. Easy to get seated, they have plenty of tables inside. Service is friendly and quick. Normally, my favorite is the tonkotsu black but I decided to go for the vegan red fire opal. I was impressed by the yuzu flavored hot and sour soup. Packed with flavors and it's now become my favorite ramen here. I also sub out the noodles for gluten-free noodles. A great option for anyone eating vegan. read more

one of my top go to places when craving ramen. flavorful ramen with delicious toppings. their pork chashu is tender with tons of flavor, i recommend getting any bowl that includes it! i also recommend the spicy miso umami as it's my favorite bowl, sadly it doesn't come with egg or pork chashu. i love getting their takoyaki as it's soft, fluffy, lots of sauce and delicious. a nice tip to know is that you can switch out what noodles come with your ramen bowl, i believe they have thick or thin! ambiance is giving date nice but could be a casual place to grab a bite to eat. service is always friendly but it can get a little loud when busy. read more

This is my 2nd time at this location, the first time it was for a Yelp event. We came here for lunch and got a table right away, our server Vy was excellent. She was so kind & accommodating. I decided to order 1 Nikuman to share with my friend. It was soft fluffy but the inside was soggy. The filling was just fine. For our mains, I decided to get their Tonkotsu black & my friend got the spicy chicken ramen. The broth for my Tonkotsu was creamy & flavorful but it was a little too thick for my liking. The chashu was tendered and melt in your mouth & the egg was exactly how I want it; runny. My friend chicken ramen was very good, the broth was smooth with the right amount of spice. The chicken was soft and tendered. Overall, the food was a 4, but I'll give it a 5 because Vy's service that was provided was a1. The decor is modern & clean. I do have to say that this is the most spacious Jinya out of all of them. I hope when the Midtown location reopens that they make it to where it gives it more space. Every time I dine at that location it's like when they seat us, we are literally bunched up with another group that we don't even know. It can get awkward because we can hear their conversation and they can hear ours. The Spring Branch location offers a little more intimate experience. Will I come back? Yes. read more

My family had a light dinner here a couple of days ago. I know there are multiple Jinya Ramen Bars, and I think we've been to a few. The ambience/decor of this location is really nice. Hip vibe to it. The service was good. I don't get the food. The ramen menu is pretty limited as everything is based on a pork-bone broth that's not all that great. We had: Spicy Umami Miso Ramen (w/ curry and salad combo added) - 3/5: The ramen is just okay. The broth was not very hot (mildly warm) and the flavor is just okay. The curry rice was only "just okay" as well. Tonkatsu Spicy - 3/5: Very similar to ramen above. Overall, nothing to write home about. This is definitely one of the best ramen I've ever had. The flavor was simply incredible. We started with some wings in a sweet and sour soy sauce, which were delicious. My first experience with Jinya was with the location in Katy. I don't love the part of town this new location is in but it is at least in a new shopping center, with other restaurants that look interesting to experience as well. The staff, food and ambiance was all great. But I do have 2 gripes. I don't quite understand the yelling back and forth of staff in Japanese everytime a customer goes in and out of the establishment. After awhile and on a busy day, it gets a bit annoying. Second, I do wish the Black Tonk had bit more black garlic taste to it, more savory. But despite those two small set backs, I'll be back because the food and drinks are delicious. I was craving ramen and was in Spring Ranch area recently and noticed there's a Jinya here, so I decided to stop by for a quick lunch for three. I usually go to the Midtown location and the Sugar Land location, so this was my first time trying this location. We were quickly seated upon arrival, and our server and all the workers there were super nice. Despite the huge parking lot here, it took a while to find parking due to so many other restaurants and businesses here. We ordered our usuals: Tonkotsu Black along with some extra toppings, Pork Chashu Bowl, and the Tonkotsu Spicy. The ramen broths were flavorful like other locations as always, but I just wish that the pork chashu pieces were a bit bigger and had a bit more broth. Jinya holds a special place in my heart since it was the first restaurant I ate at when I first moved to Houston. After all these years, I'm glad to see that the quality of their food has stayed the same. This was my first time at the Spring Branch location and I absolutely loved it. It's actually much closer to where I live compared to the Midtown location and it's also more spacious with ample parking. I got to try several appetizers. Th caramelized cauiflower was sautéed in garlic and very tender. Next, we had the spicy creamy shrimp tempura. The shrimp were pretty big and the spicy mayo sauce was delicious. Last, we had the gyoza. It personally wasn't my favorite as the filling was lacking in flavor and was surprisingly not that warm. I debated wanting to try a new ramen bowl but eventually ended up ordering my tried and true: the tonkotsu black ramen. It's a classic and authentic ramen that I'd recommend for anyone trying ramen for the first time. The broth is so rich and flavorful and the pork is so tender. I also have to comment on the wonderful service I received here. All of the servers were super attentive, had positive attitudes, and were extremely efficient. Ate here around the 9pm hour on Jan 7th 2025. I've eaten at Jinya since the opening of the midtown location. Decided to give the spring branch location a try. The ramen was not bad, I got the tonkotsu black. My waitress, though very sweet, was trying to upsell me way too much. It took about 4 times of her asking me, "are you sure you don't want any small plates?" to get the hint that I did not want any small plates. Then the worst part happened. I decided to have some matcha tiramisu. The cream in the tiramisu was SPOILED. It had that sour, rotten, spoiled milk taste. I can't believe I had two bites. I unfortunately swallowed the first bite but spat out the second. The manager took it to the cooks and they all agreed that the cake was spoiled. Unfortunately, I when I went home I had to vomit and purge out the spoiled matcha tiramisu. I'm sad to say I'll be staying away for the foreseeable future and stick to Tatsuya. The service was patient, courteous and willing to explain what was on the menu. The location was a little quiet compared to the downtown location. I love Jinya Ramen and so glad there's so many locations! Luckily was able to find this place to introduce my friend who was visiting to Jinya! I always get the Chicken Ramen and make it extra spicy because I love the taste and flavor of the spicy paste they use. The ramen came out perfectly! Like every location, they have a community table to sit groups of people around which is nice and makes the place seem very friendly. The ambiance is great for groups. My only tuff with the community table is that you can't really all talk to each other if you're not sitting at a corner but it's nice for couples who like to sit next to each other! Jinya has great food, haven't had anything I didn't like. Great for groups and parties also! I don't know if i'd recommend groups larger than 6 though but maybe they can fit larger groups if the tables were moved together? read more

I got the vegan "spicy" ramen. Boyfriend got the pork popular one (starts with a T). It was pretty good but we agreed we have had better. For my ramen being called spicy, it wasn't spicy not even a little bit. They never asked if I wanted mild or medium or hot and I forgot to specify but regardless, it didn't even taste like it was a mild hot. The service is what ruined our dinner.
