I've been thinking about this place since my first visit. I can't wait to return again and try other items on the menu. The food was delicious, the service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant was clean and very welcoming.

Everything I tried was delicious. Great vibe. Great people. Great food! Definitely brining a date next time!

I loved the food. I asked the waitress for her favorites and it did not disappoint. The place was full but my food did not take too long to come out. The vibe was super chill. Totally a date night place. I loved it.

This ramen was amazing. In addition to it being absolutely beautiful it was so delicious. I didn't catch her name but the cashier was extremely friendly! I'll be back!

We were driving by and had a craving for ramen. Having only driven by Tamashi on Holcombe and only having it delivered, I was very happy to see this spacious location. Previously I have not gotten ramen from here so I didn't know what to expect but to see a ramen bowl being offered that had no pork broth and shrimp on top just made me very happy. The shrimp ramen was solid. The service was quick and friendly. It wasn't too busy but it was definitely past the dinner rush hour. Next time I would love to try some other items because the interior is really cute if you're into anime.

Service is always amazing here, I've visited about 5 times now. They have a small-ish menu which works well for them! The ramen is made with care and usually satisfies my cravings. They recently added a new section to their menu which I am excited to try on my next visit!

It was past lunch and was craving for Ramen. There was a Tamashi ramen close by. I had it once long ago and had good memories. It was past lunch so was not busy and was seated right away. Started with geso karage. The squid tentacles were crispy and was tasty. The sweet sauce compliment it very well. Just wished it was not chewy. Next, ordered the medium spicy tonkatsu ramen. It came with fish cakes, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots half an egg and 2 slice of char sui. The broth was delicious. Some may find it a little salty. The ramen was firm. The half cooked egg was perfect! The char shiu (sliced pork) was a bit lean... would prefer to be a little fatty so it will be tender. Price was very reasonable. Staff was friendly and explains if you ask. Food came out pretty quick. Plenty of light coming in from the windows. Overall, I'll come back and try their sushi and other dishes next time.

Found this place because I didn't want to drive to my favorite spot in Montrose. Tried to give it a chance but the noodles were undercooked and hard. The flavor was decent. Service was average and the place seemed clean. Won't be going back

Love, love this place even though I've never had the ramen! I usually meet fellow yelper O for a weekly lunch. We put this place into our rotation because the food is high quality & oh so delicious. I order the chirashi every time & enjoy this dish immensely. In Japanese chirashi means scattered, the dish consists of a bowl of rice topped with sesame seeds, ginger, wasabi, cucumbers, seaweed salad & an assortment of sashimi on top. This way you get a variety of fish to enjoy! Tamashi is a cute little store with plenty of seating. Anime figures & drawings adorn the walls & shelves. The service here is always quick & friendly. One day I will try the ramen but I haven't gotten tired of the chirashi, it is so damn good.

Great high quality ramen - their curry tsukemen is quite good - and some of their sides are also good such as their fried shumai. Portions are a bit small for the price however (the curry tsukemen is like $13.25). Nonetheless recommended. Didn't get a chance to try their sushi however. Cool interior with panels of One Piece manga.

Came here for their thanksgiving eve special! This shop is bigger than the rest so there was no wait to get in. My order took awhile to prepare but other tables had it fast so just a fluke for mine. I always order the tamashi menn. If I didn't have the other locations' to compare to, I would say it's very good. But I can actually tell the broth isn't as flavorful and the chashu for mine was a little tough. My friend had told me this location was bad, but I just think it shines a little dimmer compared to the others and would still recommend it!

My friends and I were craving ramen and decided to make our way to this location because it was close to her home. We love ramen and this wasn't the best ramen I've ever had. The ramen did the job, but the service was very mediocre as well. We waited a long time for our meals and even a glass of water. It eas not busy at this location, so we are unsure why they service was not the best. This was also one of our friends first time having ramen so we wanted it to be an experience. Needless to say I probably would try another spot when visiting the area again. The friend did enjoy her meal though and was happy we brought her!!

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. My mom and I went and got 2 different kinds of ramen. I got the shrimp one and hers was a curry dipping ramen. They were just really average and mid flavor. The sushi roll we got "the hot papa roll", was amazing I would definitely order that again. But the avocado roll was terrible. Not sure how you can mess that up. One big turn off was that we asked for chili paste and it was $1 each time, which was fine, but when I tell you they barely gave you a teaspoon. There's plenty of other good ramen in houston so I likely won't be back for that, sushi maybe.

I had a great experience at ramen Tatsu-ya. It was my first time here & I was very impressed…read more I ordered the "mi-so-hot" & it was amazing. First - the ramen came out super fast. I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Sushi Flight (6 Pieces, 4 Flavors) - Somehow 1,050 calories??? - Raw Salmon x2 - Strangely, I would have liked this colder. It was just okay. - Cooked Salmon x2 - I liked this a lot more than the raw salmon because it had a deeper flavor. - Scallops - Probably my favorite thing on this platter because of the smokiness they imbue with the torching. The sweet aftertaste was definitely worthwhile. - Shrimp - Not as fresh as I would have liked, as someone who's eaten a lot of shrimp, but I still liked the taste. Still, pretty mediocre. Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom. This is really a unique broth and I haven't had anything like it. You should definitely try it! Restaurant: clean, neat, every table literally has its place /orientation. Deep wood furniture, honeyed lighting, and dark window shades give the restaurant a cozy chic ambience despite visiting around noon. Good food, great service. Great prices. Large portions.
