It was super easy to make an appointment and she's pretty flexible with her days and times. The salon is on dillingham above a physician's office so I would schedule when they are not open. The salon itself is clean and has a nice ambiance, I did not feel out of place while hanging out on their couch waiting for my turn. Shana did an amazing job on my hair. I go and get a $60 hair cut, and end up paying only $40. That's a deal if you ask me!! Requesting an appointment is super easy. You can message on yelp and they will get back to you. Only downside is the parking is pretty tuff and hard to get it if sometimes. It's kinda small and tight. One time I had to drive around the block a couple times because it was full. I stopped in to look at hairpieces, as I recently had a coloring mishap and was forced to cut 10 inches off of my hair. Initially it appeared they had a good selection, but I quickly realized that they were out of any lighter color options. The younger of the two employees, in the back, was initially friendly and helpful, but quickly became impatient with me asking questions and suggested I go to another store in the area (Shangri La) because "they have more for Caucasian people." I did not have time to go elsewhere, so I continued browsing to see if they have anything that would work for me. They do not allow any touching or opening of products, so it was hard to compare. It took me about an hour to settle on the best option they had. It wasn't perfect, but it was marked down to $79 from $99 and I had already spent a good deal of time, so I figured I'd just give ita try. I got to the register, where an older woman was watching television and eating, and asked her to confirm that the sale price, written in pen, was correct. After discussing with the other employee, who confirmed writing the lower price, she disagreed and said that she would not honor the sale price, as it was a mistake. I told her I understood, but that I wouldn't care to proceed at that price. not need to go through with the purchase after all. She proceeded to express frustration with me for Not purchasing after spending an hour in her store, comparing things and asking questions, Ben told me not to come back. I assured her I wouldn't visit again if she were offering me shopping spree at no charge. It's a shame that this is one of only two establishments in the islands who carry alternative hair solutions. It is worth a trip down the road to Shangri long or even waiting a week to purchase items online rather than patronizing a business who's proprietor is as anti-aloha as it comes. Apparently, she does not understand that people visit shops to shop.

Treat Black ppl right or DONT SELL OUR HAIR PRODUCTS PERIOD…read more I am very disappointed with the treatment I received at this store. After purchasing a bundle of hair, I immediately noticed that the texture was rough once I got to my car. I returned to the store right away to exchange it for a different product. When I attempted to make the exchange, I was informed that there was a $2 price difference. The employee told me that I could not simply pay the difference with my card because the store requires a minimum purchase of $10 for card transactions. She also stated that the store does not provide refunds. Fortunately, I had cash available, but the situation was handled in an unprofessional manner. In addition, the employee's attitude throughout the interaction was unpleasant. I felt as though I was being closely watched and followed throughout the store, which made me uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was carrying no purse, bags, or anything that would justify such treatment. To make matters worse, when I asked to use the restroom, I was initially told that the store did not have one. However, shortly afterward, an employee called someone over with a key to unlock an outside restroom for me. Rather than allowing me to use the restroom and return the key afterward, they escorted me to the restroom themselves, unlocked it, and instructed me to close the door behind me. The entire interaction left me feeling as though I was not trusted as a customer. Another concern is that many of the items in the store did not appear to have visible prices. As a customer, I expect clear and consistent pricing on merchandise. The lack of posted prices made me uncomfortable and raised concerns about transparency and fairness. What concerns me most is that businesses that sell products primarily to the Black community should treat their customers with respect and appreciation. The people who support these businesses deserve courteous, professional service, not suspicion, hostility, or poor treatment. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. I left feeling disrespected, profiled, and undervalued as a paying customer.

For my fellow curly/wavy hair sisters or *anyone* looking for a great cut or color, I highly recommend Hair by Janeth. I've gone to many well reviewed stylists, but if they don't know curly hair, the many different types of curl patterns and end up cutting your hair as if your hair is straight, it will end up looking like a V in the back, frizzy, thinned out at the ends and won't do your curls any justice. Janeth, who is also a military wife, made all the difference in the world. My hair has so much more volume, shine, more defined curls that you would've thought I had a cut, color and perm.
