Well, our dishwasher broke just a few weeks after their last visit. So we called them to take a look, with the warning that there was no way we were paying yet another travel/service charge for them to diagnose the issue after our previous experience - that if they were going to stand behind their work, they should come look at it; but if not, we sure weren't paying them to come look. To be fair, they did agree to waive the service charge for this third trip, then diagnosed yet another issue, and charged us for the part. The part was expensive enough where I'm sure they covered their overhead from it, though I don't think they artificially inflated it. I think they always charge that much for the part. But they did waive the even more expensive service charge, so I'll allow them one more star and update the review so you can make your own decision on whether you want to do business with them. I totally LOVE this company. We have been doing business with them since we moved to this area 35 years ago. Not only are their prices extremely competitive, but their customer service excels. There have been several occasions when they could have charged me for a service call but were kind enough to guide me verbally over the phone to make easy corrections on my own rather than sending out a tech. I needed a broken dryer repaired. I got an appointment for a few days out. The technician called me the day before stating he finished his work early for the day and asked if I wanted him to come out that day instead. Of course I said yes! Brayden was extremely helpful and friendly. He was very open to me watching him disassemble the machine and gave me time to clean out the lint that was inside the interior of the dryer. He even gave me a hand to get lint from some tricky areas. He diagnosed the problem was with the heating element (and fortunately had anticipated possible causes of the broken dryer) so had a replacement in his truck, avoiding a second visit! I can't say enough kind words about Brayden as a technician and the customer service he provided. Really appreciate his help. read more

These guys are great! I got an appointment the day after I called. They were fast, reasonalble and honest. It's hard to feel comfortable with paying for any hoisehold repair but these guys made me feel very comfortable. I feel like they really appreciate the customer and treat you great. They have some of the best customer service. My brand new LG dryer did not have the back vent pipe attached, from the factory. The original company that was suppose to come and fix it decided the day before the appointment that they weren't coming since they wouldn't make any money on the repair. I called JJ Gloss and explained the situation to Mike Walsh, he said he would send a technician out to repair it and then follow up with LG to receive payment. JJ gloss was not a contracted service company for LG. After explaining the situation to LG they agreed to JJ Gloss fixing my dryer. After JJ Gloss had repaired it I received a follow up call the next morning to see how it was working. Would highly recommend, JJ Gloss for your repair needs. read more

I never gave JJ Gloss the opportunity to service my dishwasher. My KitchenAid dishwasher was covered for repair under warranty and JJ Gloss was contacted by them (Whirlpool) to complete the repair under warranty. JJ Gloss was supposed to call me Monday to confirm Tuesday's appointment. They did not. According to Whirlpool they were to give me a 2 hour window between 8am and 12pm. They did not - in fact, the man on the phone from JJ Gloss said they would only offer hours between 10am and 3pm (meaning a full day off from work waiting for the repairman). They informed Whirlpool that they had the part in stock. They did not. I was told that they would have to order the part later in the week. Whirlpool was going to cover the part and service under warranty. The man on the phone said he was only going to accept cash on delivery. Every step of the way, JJ Gloss proved that they do not deserve the trust of prospective clients. If you need a repair in the Carroll County/Baltimore County region, try ANYONE else. read more

Thought I was batting a thousand today when JJ Gloss not only had the dryer belt I needed, but all it took was pulling a box from under the counter for the guy to get it for me, as it was a stocked item. He knew I was making the repair myself & made a point to tell me that if I returned the item, there would be a 25% restocking fee. WHAT? I had to ask, "25% to put that little bag back in that box? Why?" His reply: "Because that's how we do business." Well, NOT WITH ME! I left. Just to clarify, it didnt matter whether the item was opened - which would be understandable. I could also understand it if the part had to be special ordered or shipped. According to him, everyone in the appliance business charged a restocking fee. Oh yeah? Well, I called 4 local companies: Tribles, Towson Appliance, Appliance Parts Depot, & Landers, & none of them charge a restocking fee for stocked items! The people at Landers (where I made my purchase) were shocked to hear that any store would do this. They knew I was attempting the repair myself & gave me useful info on how to go about it. They even went as far as printing out a schematic of my dryer for me to use. THIS is how you treat your customers! Perhaps the folks at JJ Gloss might realize that their company might be more profitable from repeat customers instead of relying on what they can squeeze out of them in restocking fees. Until they figure out what's more important, I'll spend my money with companies who understand what customer service is all about. read more

My 2 o'clock appointment showed up on time and was very efficient. Excellent service and reasonable pricing!!

Recently had washer serviced. Tech had little to nothing to say. No greeting/introduction. He DID call prior to arrival as promised. Washer would not rinse and spin consistently. Tech spent 35-45 minutes fiddling/tinkering and running washer thru cycles and told me if this didn't work he could return and replace a filter. He also showed me how to make more water enter the washer which I appreciated. Now I have to re-hang bi-fold doors that were removed as they will not close properly. Thank God it ONLY cost me a $135.00 service charge. Not too happy. read more

"I have no clue" was the comment written by the JJ Gloss service technician on the last service order for my dishwasher. Over the course of a several months, after spending hundreds of dollars for parts I didn't need (since the dishwasher continued to overflow and flood my hardwood floored kitchen and basement), a very argumentative owner refuses to answer calls and emails. I always shop locally for goods and services, but stay as far away from JJ Gloss as you can. If there was a lower rating than one star, I would give it to them. read more

I have used this company in the past and found their service of my Kitchen Aid appliances to be very good. I have a Samsung appliance that developed a problem, so I called them for a repair. The technician came as scheduled, did the repair and made the comment that he hates Samsung appliances. He told me that the repair tested out but if there was a problem call back. They billed me. I paid them. There was a problem. Whatever was done did not work. They came back said maybe it was another part that needed replacing and that they would order the part. Several weeks went past. Called them. They said, yes, the part was in. Asked when they were coming back and I scheduled the third appointment. They came back and installed the board. Appliance is still not repaired. Called them. Got bill. I paid the bill with a note that said the repair was not working. No reply. IF THE COMPANY DOES NOT SERVICE THE BRAND OF APPLIANCE YOU HAVE, THEY SHOULD TELL YOU UPFRONT. Came to the house twice took the instruction sheet out of the stove he was supposed to be repairing , put it back in said there was nothing he could do. Charged me $100.00 each time .Called another repair company, they replaced a small electronic component ,charged me $85.00. It's been fine ever since. Don't call these people! read more

Nothing but great service from these guys. We've used them a lot at several rental properties. They are very up front about whether the repair is worth the effort, and whether replacing a part will only prolong the inevitable. Over the last several years we have purchased Maytag and Whirlpool appliances from J J Gloss and have been extremely pleased with every purchase and their excellent customer service. The whole staff is always friendly, polite, and has shown great product knowledge. They have been helpful in selecting the right models for our home and budget. Their Technician always calls ahead and arrives promptly. After installation, he reviews how to use the appliance and answers all questions and thoroughly cleans up before leaving. Contrary to other reviews, THESE GUYS SUCK!!! Called them for a problem with my washer, and they came out a few days later. OK. Unfortunately for them, the washer was acting up intermittently. So of course that day it worked. The next day, it would not work again. They came out a few days later, and diagnosed the problem as needing a new touch panel. Had a hard time finding one, from their thousands of parts and suppliers. So I found one, and they came out and put it in, but it still did not work. They decided it was a bad replacement board, and got another one. Put it in, and still no work. They then decided it was the control panel, and took 2 weeks to find one. They came out and put it in, but apparently it was bad. So they got another one in a week or so. Put it in, and finally it worked. So for over a month I am without a washer, because they promised to fix it. So when all was said and done, they told me they would reimburse for the UN- needed touch panel. It has been more than 2 months, and still no check. I called them today, and the manager? said I do not know why you were told that, we would not reimburse for it. Tried to tell me that with all the trips out to the house, we got good service for our bucks. When I asked him why, if your employee told me that we would get a check, even if it came out of his pocket, are they now reneging on it? The manager, is like, sorry, too bad, so sad. He promised to call me back, but it has been an hour now and no call. NEVER again. The only reason I did not go with Sears, they would be at least a week before they could come out. Sad part is, someone I know on Facebook, recommended them. OOPS. read more

Our dishwasher needed to be fixed and it was determined that the wiring hardness needed to be changed "and it will only take 20 minutes". The part was ordered by Mike at JJ Gloss. Mike arrived a few days later with the part in hand, dissembled the dishwasher and after 30 minutes he reported "I ordered the wrong part". After losing 3 hours from work, we went to JJ Gloss and talked with the owner: Mike Walsh. We decided to go ahead and purchase a new dishwasher instead of paying $200 for just a part. Come to find out, they were going to charge us twice for the service call and the total was now closer to $300. It was their mistake and they are only interested in making money and lack any customer service. They made the mistake and charging us more money because of their mistake. The owner just kept repeating "I have to find out what happened". You moron, I told you what happen: your employee made the mistake ordering the wrong part and now you want to charge us twice for a service call. Avoid this business all cost: you would do better going to Home Depot or Lowes and that is what we did: found the same dishwasher for $100 less in price and $50 less in installation/delivery. read more
