    amazing walleye

I love that place... I had a walleye was so big it hung over the plate... Absolutely delicious. waitress had a sense of humor, which is good because I was teasing and joking a lot... Also, did I mention the beer was good and cold.

We were so lucky to have stumbled on JJ's! The craft cocktails were perfection. I tried the blood orange jalapeño margarita (2 of them!) and my husband ...and I... tried the pineapple upside-down mimosa and some kind of rum drink I can't remember the name of. All amazing! Shrimp the size of a small lobster in the shrimp cocktail, and every bit as tender and delicious. Followed by fresh, filling, and not at all bready walleye cakes and topped off with mushroom truffle risotto that was the best we've ever had. The staff and mixologist were super friendly and helpful, and made the food recommendations we loved! We live almost two hours away and agreed we'll make the trip whenever we can! Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu ... and craft cocktails!

Food was overall pretty good! We ordered a bunch of appetizers. They could give more salsa. Corn dip was a favorite. Drinks were great we got mango margaritas. Also great views and had a seat half in half out. Will be back!

From the outside honestly this place doesn't look like much. However, don't let the outside fool you! We stopped here on our way home from Kelley's Island and we will definitely stop here again next time we are up in the area! Absolutely loved our waitress. I wish I could remember her name. The food here is amazing! And huge portions too! I had the walleye with rice and brussel sprouts and my other half had a grilled chicken sandwich with mixed fries. Everything was cooked perfectly.

The thing that really stood out to me was how this place with kind of pricey food was that it was in the middle of nowhere. I found it on yelp and I was like I need seafood. We walked in and they accommodated us right away, very nice and the place was really cute. It was like a classy bar inside and then we ate on the "inside patio" you can actually sit outside too. So plenty of room. The food was good nothing crazy, I was very happy because they were able to substitute for mashed potatoes and they usually don't but it doesn't hurt to ask lol I just wish I was able to try the ahi tuna that I saw on yelp. But overall I would come here again and this time get a cute little drink:)

Had the pork chop last night and it was amazing! Also they have a very nice selection of bourbon for the serious drinker.

Pink in the middle? . If you've got loads of time to wait for drinks/ food service for meh food, give it a try!

Very disappointing…read more We have a cottage on the islands and yesterday we had some time available before our ferry so we stopped in to take advantage of their early happy hour (3-6) as we've been there before and enjoyed it. Not this time. It was about two minutes to 3 when we sat at the bar (nobody else at the bar but us) and asked for a menu. The bartender (male) gave us dinner menus so we asked could we please have the lunch menus. He looked at his watch and said "I guess so" and gave them to us. We then asked for the happy hour menu and again, he looked at his watch , decided it was ok, then gave them to us. Not an awesome start but no biggie. We ordered the happy hour calamari, and for lunch I had the perch sandwich with chips and wife got the luncheon steak filet. First the good news. Service was good, food came out quickly and my wife said her steak (while a bit pricey at $35 for a small filet) was excellent as were the green beans that came with it. Now the bad. The calamari was severely over-fried and basically tasteless. My wife asked me "do you taste anything?" and candidly, I didn't. Just the dipping sauce. My perch was equally flavorless, all I tasted was bread. Same goes for the 1/2 baked potato that came with the steak. That looked and tasted exactly like a microwaved potato someone sprinkled a bit of shredded cheese on. Very, very bland. And the homemade chips that came with the perch were the saltiest things ever salted. I couldn't eat them at all, had about three (they looked great) and realized my sodium level would spike off the charts if I ate any more. With two drinks (a happy hour beer & Tito's) the bill with tip was $100 and we couldn't taste the calamari, the perch or the potato and couldn't eat the chips. Insert "not great Bob" animated gif.

As you enter, it seems like more of a farm. They have ample free parking and overflow parking so that's never going to be an issue. As you approach the main building, they have signs about the different outdoor areas and whether they're open or closed based on the weather or events. If you explore the grounds, you'll find concert areas, forested areas, fields, places to play games and be outside. The large patio area also has more bars and an event space. Plus the namesake twin oasts outside that serve as fire pit relaxation areas to drink as well. We went inside, which was also super busy for a weekday. There are lots of campgrounds and other lodgings nearby, so it seems like a regional hangout. We each got flights at the bar, all the bartenders were friendly and efficient, even with the constant flow of customers. The beer quality is solid and prices are reasonable. They have a merchandise area near the restrooms. Indoor has bar seating, tables, and cozier living room like areas with big open windows to enjoy the outside on cold or wet days. If you're a beer fan in the area, this is a must-visit. Even if you just like nice places to eat and enjoy nature, this is also for you.

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.
