GREAT burger spot in downtown Sandusky! After a long day, we were looking for a good, local spot to have a full meal at. Cheekz came up as an option with really good reviews. There was plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant. They had a small patio for tables out front, a large bar area, and a main dining space. When we sat down, it took a little bit for someone to visit our table but once she did, she moved quick. We all got waters immediately and were ready to order. We started with the Fried Pickles which came with a chipotle ranch: delicious! I shared the Baby Daddy Cheekz burger and upgraded to the fries on the side. The bun was soft, meat was juicy & fresh, and the toppings really added great flavor. Others also got burgers and everyone was impressed. The sweet potato waffle fries come with a delicious marshmallow sauce that everyone was raving about. Even the mac and cheese side came with chips to make it a perfect kids meal. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed by the quality and flavors of our burgers. Their menu definitely focused on appetizers, flatbreads, and burgers but highly recommend based on what we all had! Stopped in with some community partners after a collaboration meeting and was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a variety of pizzas for the table--buffalo chicken, veggie, supreme, and pepperoni--and every single one was a hit. The pizzas came out quickly, especially for a lunchtime crowd, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The staff were fantastic from start to finish--greeted us right away, checked on us throughout the meal, and made sure to send us off with a thank you on the way out. I finally made it over to Cheekz Burgers after hearing all the hype, and right away you can tell this place has a fun personality. The whole "buns out, spirits up" vibe definitely carries through. I went with the Cheeky Melt--a double stacked smash burger topped with grilled mushrooms and garlic aïoli--and added lettuce and tomato. This thing delivered. The patties were juicy with that perfect smash-style sear, and the garlic aïoli plus mushrooms gave it a ton of flavor without overpowering everything else. The bun was grilled, tasted great, and actually held up the whole time, which is a big win. The fries were thin, crispy, and really good, plus they gave a solid portion size, so no complaints there. Service was on point too--our server Bailee was friendly, attentive, and did a great job taking care of us. Overall, it's a solid burger spot with a fun atmosphere. Not quite at that "blow your mind" level, but definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm craving a good burger and a chill vibe. read more

The service was fantastic. The server was friendly and attentive, and the owners made it a more memorable experience. We got the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer, and it was one of, if not the best, one we ever had. Both burgers were also very good and like the creativity of the menu. Place was also very well decorated. We had a table in a corner and were brought a candle to make it more romantic. We will come back here every time we visit Sandusky. read more

Came here tonight with my family for dinner. I ordered the Left Cheek. It was a single smash burger with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and Cheeky sauce! It came with fries. The good was super hot and fresh when it came out. Everything tasted good. I was definitely full when we left. Our server was Bailee and she was awesome. She took great care of us and she was super friendly. The ambiance was nice although I had to ask the hostess to put something under the table leg because it was very obvious it was slanted and it rocked. Our food would of been in our lap had she not fixed it. All was good after it was fixed. The decor was very Americana and cute. read more

I'm always up for trying a new restaurant that comes to town even when it's a burger place. I had the hangover helper which has two patties, bacon, fried egg, and a type of aioli sauce. I will also take sweet potato fries over regular fries any day. I saw a white sauce thinking it was a ranch. When the waiter told me it was marshmallow fluff I had to do a double take and ask her "it's what?" She said it's marshmallow fluff and it's a perfect match for it. There is a sit down spot at the bar if it's just two people out for a drink and a bite to eat. There's a choice of high seating or low eating and tvs to watch the games going on. My family and I recently visited Cheekz to celebrate my dad's birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. There were seven adults in our group. We arrived around 7 p.m. and waited about 45 minutes for a table. What made this more frustrating is that we tried calling ahead around 5 p.m. We wanted to let them know we would have a larger group. The person on the phone seemed uninterested and made no effort to accommodate us. This lack of effort was evident in the long wait we encountered upon arrival. Once seated, our server greeted us and took our drink orders. The drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. My mom's cocktail--a simple vodka tonic--was incorrect and had to be remade. It took quite a while to fix and didn't even come with a lime. We ordered two appetizers to share, assuming it would be enough for the table. The portions were extremely small. The pretzels were tiny--no bigger than a quarter. The spinach dip was served in what looked like a soup cup. It definitely wasn't enough for a group our size. After that, we ordered our burgers. Nearly everyone ordered one. My mom and I split a burger. The wait for our food was close to an hour, which felt excessive. When the burgers finally arrived, they were overcooked, dry, and lacked flavor. The "fresh chips" tasted stale or as if they'd been cooked in old oil. The sweet potato fries had the same problem. I ordered the Mac Daddy Cheekz burger. It included two patties, American cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, mac and cheese, and onion straws. With all those ingredients, I expected bold flavor. Instead, it tasted overly salty, almost as if it had been deep-fried. None of the individual flavors stood out. As an experienced sous chef, I noticed several things that could have prevented this experience. Acknowledging and planning for a larger group in advance, better preparing the kitchen for a busy Saturday night, and ensuring adequate kitchen staffing would have helped. These could have made a significant difference in both timing and food quality. Overall, everyone at the table agreed the food was underwhelming. I was really excited to try Cheekz because the menu sounded amazing. The long wait times, small portions, and poor food quality made for a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

Delicious! It was our first trip to Cheekz and we took our granddaughter for her 6th birthday. She loved it and so did we! Let me start with the service is amazing, they are so friendly! When I think craft burger, this is exactly what I would want. The burgers are fresh, juicy, flavorful, and delicious. The price point is right as well. It is also a cute place inside. Management needs to decide if they want to run their establishment as a family-friendly business, or as an adult only bar scene. We were told that our child could not sit at the bar when we were trying to watch the band they had for entertainment. Either children are not welcome there, or they are restricted to where they can go. Maybe a sign needs to be made to clearly indicate where specific people of a certain age are allowed to sit. read more
