Stopped in for dinner. The service here was over the top with three people checking on me multiple times over the thirty minutes I was there. I ordered the chile verde which is a staple in my diet. The pork was very tender and nice size chucks. My biggest gripe is about the flavor/seasoning. I hate to share a poor experience but I just hope it helps the restaurant improve. First the positives were the wait staff were INCREDIBLY attentive. They were zero to blame for the experience. I also thought prices were typical and the menu selections were great. The cheese dip and guacamole were nice. The temperature was humid - literally it was stuffy inside somehow. The salsa was too garlicky. The soda and water tasted like the ice machine hadn't been cleaned. That is a very specific taste and once you know it you can always recognize it. The chips were store bought and not made on site - that doesn't have to be a problem but when the salsa isn't subpar it stands out too. In general we didn't love the visit and would go to another spot the next time we're in Sandusky. Again, the wait staff was terrific. It hurts to give a bad review when they were so good. read more

I've worked at Cedar Point for 5 years and this has always been my "go-to" Mexican restaurant. Perfect food, a wonderful family that literally treats you as family. I've not worked at CP in about 25 years but Nachos is something I plan my trip around. When I say that they treat you like family let me explain: In 1999 employees weren't allowed over the causeway to get to work due to a hole in the pavement and a literal geyser shooting water into the air. We were away from home and now stranded away from our housing for 3 days. Nachos fed us no matter what time it was or even if we had the money. I ate free for ten meals and they never asked for a penny. I dropped them a check but I was never asked. If they close at 8pm on a Tuesday and I tell them "That's too bad I was going to stop in for dinner after I left the park". They ask when, I tell them, they stay open the extra hour or two. They're an amazing group of people and deserve the best from anyone that might be in the area. They live off Cedar Points being active and make sure you know how much they appreciate tourism. My family and I went to lunch here before heading to Sports Force Park for our oldest. We were greeted and seated immediately with a welcoming smile. Then, our server was extremely friendly and made us feel comfortable. Our hostess visited us to make sure we were taken care of. The food was quick and delicious, so we went back at the end of the week before leaving Sandusky, and our experience was the same as our first. Super cute family owned restaurant close to Cedar Point. Prices are very fair and the portions are big. I enjoyed the Steak Taco Salad which was packed with mostly meat and peppers. The margarita was tasty as well. The waitstaff was very attentive and checked on us constantly throughout our meal. While right now there is not bar seating available, there is plenty of room for your family and friends to gather. They did a great job spacing out the tables to comply with safety rules. This is my favorite kind of hole-in-the-wall restaurant. It is spotlessly clean and the employees are exceedingly friendly. The food is authentic Mexican, served in huge portions, and the menu features a wide variety of options. The salsa served with the chips was very mild but a more spicy sauce with great flavor and decent heat is available on request. There are several vegetarian options on the menu. I chose a wet vegetarian burrito and it was the bomb. Hot and fresh, smothered with red sauce and filled with melted cheese. The plate was filled with rice and really tasty refried beans, also lettuce, tomato slices and a nice scoop of guacamole. The host and server were both very welcoming and gracious. They treated their customers with such care and respect that I felt like I was a guest in their home. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Sandusky. read more

So many veggie options! In reviewing the menus of local restaurants it seems like a lot of pizza places and sports bars, each with about one vegetarian option. We left Kalahari in search of something better than their offerings. Nachos has its own vegetarian section easily made vegan without dairy. What's missing from that section is the DELICIOUS vegetarian chimichanga. I ordered mine without cheese or sour cream and topped it with their fresh salsa. My husband had the wet burrito and an a la carte veggie chimi, liked them both equally. Omar provides great service and was prompt with more salsa that our young ones devoured. We split a bean and cheese nacho appetizer which was only $4 for a big plate. They use queso blanco on everything limiting the grease. I'm just gonna be honest here: we went here for convenience - the restaurant is basically in the parking lot of the hotel my enormous family is staying in and we wanted to drink and not drive so this fit the bill. 1) We realized we were going to a Mexican restaurant essentially on the Canadian border. Our expectations for the authenticity of the food weren't high. 2) That being said, we opened the menu and 2 of the first items we noticed were the "Wet Burrito" and the "Spaghetti with Sour Cream". 3) Taking those things into consideration, I went the safe route and ordered cheese enchiladas. Cheese, starch, beans, rice; the chances of food poisoning aren't too high here. 4) The enchilada sauce was one hundred percent marinara sauce. I asked for hot sauce. Our waitress didn't know what hot sauce was. ... ... ... She brought me several sauces so I could show her. On the up-side, the margaritas were strong so at least I got a buzz good enough to make me forget I was shoveling marinara-covered refried beans and rice into my mouth for dinner. Overall, at the folks were nice but the food, menu, and staff's general lack of knowledge of Mexican cuisine was mildly unnerving. The margs will get you nice and toasty. read more

My teenage son and I had a great lunch here one day when we were tired of amusement park food. Food here is DELICIOUS comfort Mexican food, including arroz con pollo which my son got. I had the chicken chimichanga, and I was pleasantly surprised it was loaded with just juicy shredded chicken and a few mild green chiles, and no cheese inside. I prefer it this way, without cheese inside because it's already topped with queso, which tastes better anyway. If you're watching your sodium, the chicken did taste a bit salty but was also really nicely flavored. Service was fantastic by Omar, who was perfectly attentive and friendly. This is definitely the best Mexican restaurant around. It is truly authentic and has a very large menu to choose from. I really like the nacho dips. Queso dip and bean dip are the best. My favorite orders are nachos suprema, steak a la mexicana and molcajetes. Quesadillas are very good as well. The salsa is not spicy by default but you can request spicy salsa if your able to handle it. They have delicious jarritos if you like great tasting pop, and sometimes horchatta upon request. Those are my favorites for drinks. The servers are super nice. They give great service. If you are visiting cedar point and love Mexican food, make sure you do not leave Sandusky without visiting this place. read more

Atmosphere is usual Mexican hole in the wall but they had a full bar. If you don't like the typical sour mix that everyone puts in margaritas order a Blanco tequila and add Jarritos grapefruit soda. Mix it into your tequila with several limes. The margaritas is not sour or very sweet and you can enjoy the tequila flavor. Not for everyone. Just those who don't want a sweet drink. read more

I am always leary when I roll up to a restaurant and there aren't many cars in the parking lot. My wife and I were looking for a quick meal after a day of golfing (me) and Cedar Point (her), and normally a quick stop at a local Mexican restaurant fits the bill. After reading the reviews online, we decided to try it. The service and friendliness of the staff was great. Our waitress was simply awesome and friendly (at first we were one of two tables in the entire restaurant, but soon after we got there the other table left, and it was just us). Unfortunately, the food just was not good. My wife thought that the chicken used in her quesidilla was canned chicken, and my food (I ordered sampler platter.....the best item on it was the pork tamale) as rather bland (like the chips and salsa). Fantastic little jem on the way home from Cedar Point. I can't believe we never found it until today.
