I'm the one who doesn't want to sit around in a room but it's so cozy and relaxing here that I don't ever want to leave. My husband and I have traveled to Europe, been on cruises, and been all around the US. The food we receive at Amber House is better than anything we have had anywhere else in our travels. We brag to everyone and tell people they have to stay here! We enjoy speaking with the owners and hearing all their stories. The highlight of this trip (314/3-15, 2021) was the farewell committee headed by their youngest son who is just as friendly and caring as his parents. We can't wait to go back to Amber House. We know we will never be disappointed!!

The B&B consists of two suites. I'm in the Federal Suite which includes a bedroom/bath, parlour, dining room, and a kitchen. It's almost bigger than my apartment! In addition to all the comforts of home (plus a homemade breakfast made to order), the B&B comes with Jeanette, a self-described "Innkeeper/Grandma." Jeanette is an incredibly sweet woman who loves her B&B and makes her customers feel very much at home. She even called me after the first day of the bar exam to see how I was doing! This place is great! I don't know if I'll ever come back to Jeff City, but if I do, I'll stay here.

Home was built in 1899 but somehow doesn't really feel that old and is very quiet and comfortable. We picked the ground floor room because we were traveling with our dog. It was perfect....nice size and its own private bathroom. Nanette is very welcoming and available to answer questions or address any needs you might have. She is also the most delicious cook and I don't say that lightly. We enjoyed two of her breakfasts and both were absolutely delicious! She is certified as a holistic chef so you can feel good that what you are eating is healthy and nutritious. Inn is conveniently located (within walking distance) to the Winston Churchill museum and the brickyard district (downtown area.) If you are looking for a slower paced, relaxing weekend, this is definitely a great choice. Would highly recommend and will stay again. Thanks Nanette!

Because I'm four years old at heart, we had to stay in the boxcar on our recent Katy Trail bike ride. Location wise? Perfection. You can see the trail, you're right next to the best stop along the trail (Meriwether Cafe & Bike Shop), and right by the famous Rocheport tunnel. It's wonderful. The outside is cool too because there's a hammock and a small porch, but inside is really cool as well. Old wood floors, two loft beds and a standard queen bed. Water is potable, there's a bathroom and a shower and it's what you need. The A/C runs nice and cold and that was perfect for us on our return trip over the 4th of July. The other thing of note is that bikes aren't allowed inside, and they offer a little shed for them. Traveling by bike means that it's the most important piece of our trip and while Rocheport is a super calm, idyllic, safe place, it's still hard to just trust leaving our bikes in a shed... or at least for me to shake my city mindset of leaving a bike out. *UPDATE* We re-booked this to come as a family and it was a stellar experience. The A/C worked so well on a hot day, the hammock was relaxing and we had fireworks going off nearby. We left our bikes out, including our bike trailer and everything was fine. Love this unique spot right on the Katy, and highly recommend booking it and relaxing with the easy-going flow in Rocheport.

We've stayed at this particular Holiday Inn Express a number of times and I've previously rated it…read moreas a 4-star hotel. This is still a great hotel but, based on this stay, I'm lowering my rating to a 3-star. The two guys at the front desk when we checked in and they lady working the desk when we checked out we're all great. Professional, personable and efficient. The room was clean and quiet. BUT, and this is becoming more and more of a problem with hotel rooms, it was impossible to get the room dark. There were special blackout shades to keep outside light from interfering but there was a giant (actually it wasn't that big) bright green LED on the thermostat that gave the room a green glow all night. The lady at the front desk at check out said we weren't the first to complain about the green LED. She said that next time we should check with the desk and they'd give us tape to cover it. Misc LED's on the TV, microwave, smoke detectors, etc are making it hard to get a room really dark. Then at breakfast (yeah, I know it's free), they were out of bacon AND their signature cinnamon rolls. I overheard the breakfast hostess telling one guest that "THEY" never gave her enough bacon. Then I overheard her telling another guest that there were no cinnamon rolls because "the truck didn't come yet". This is still a nice hotel and we'll continue to stay here on our way west. It just needs to pay better attention to details, and the breakfast staff needs to be more hospitable and stop blaming "them" and "the truck ".

We travel every year ( going between 18 states and 18 different rv parks) and have Never been told we were too early, if the space was available. He was very condescending and exhibited an aggressive attitude and said he knew 3,000 other campgrounds and they all had an early check in fee. We have been to this rv park several times, over the last four years, and it has always been one of our favorites. I have never been treated like this. This will be the last time we stay here! The icing on the cake is, my husband is a Vietnam Vet, and for him to be treated so disrespectful, on this memorial day weekend, is abhorrent.

I checked with other services in Columbia and only Ali with High Point was able to work with us. The plans changed through the day due to canceled and rescheduled flights, and he stayed in touch and worked with us throughout the day. Even texting me when each individual was safely delivered to their hotel. The individuals also had great things to say (unsolicited) about the shuttle service and driver! I will only use High Point from now on, for both my personal and professional airport transportation needs. Thank you, Ali!!

Also served: fresh fruit, cereals, OJ and friendship bread. We believe it is the best and we have scheduled a return visit.
