What a fabulous venue and I can't wait to go again! I held a "work" event with about 20 people and everyone commented how much they enjoyed the food, the great variety of drinks (not just wine!), and the staff (Hey Charlie and Angela!!) were so accommodating. Business partners Jessie Myhre and Jill Pittman confidently named JJ's after themselves. Way to go, J. It's an upscale place to enjoy wine, but a bit more bubbly than Wine Loft or 360. Inert nitrogen gas in their cruvinet wine serving stations keep the wine fresh for days after the bottles of fine wine are opened. It's simple to get a wine debit card from Jill or Jessie and swipe the card to help yourself to a little taste or a glass of some of the wines. The cruvinet system they installed means there is more variety of good wine to choose from at prices cheaper than most wine bars. There are also small food plates and desserts that pair well with the red and white wines. read more

Went this past weekend and it was GREAT! I've always wanted to try higher quality wine, but just never wanted to shell out for a bottle....this place let me taste and compare 5 dollar a glass wines with 50 dollar a glass ones. The place was BUZZING with activity! Asthetically it was great also. We managed to snag a couple of the Leather lounge chairs in the front room, and just drank away. Probably one of the classiest yet surprisingly affordable places you could go in Franklin at the moment. We will be back, now i just have to figure out how to keep this place from being an addiction :) P.S. As a Franklin local this is one of our favorite spots in downtown Franklin. Beautiful historic home with a hallway of wine dispensing machines for tastings and full pours. Always a wonderful variety of wines for all tastes and beer and wine selection to accommodate as well. Staff is attentive, welcoming, and fun. For those who have taste buds and above average / higher standards save your money and go to cork and cow for an overall killer experience. It's always a little risky trying " new " things in franklin but my wife and I decided to give it a go. The outside atmosphere caught our eye and pulled us in. However the inside immediately gave us some red flags. The lighting is good, but everything needs to be updated as far as furniture and decor. The service was actually solid. Our waitress was nice and did a pretty good job explaining everything. This place offers a intriguing wine machine.... don't do it. The wine they have is COMPLETE garbage and over priced. We both got wine and never even finished half of it because it sucked so bad. We order the cheese and meat board ( $28 ) and nothing else because we wanted to see if at least the food could change our minds. It comes pretty standard with a bunch of stuff but the quality needs to be raised. It felt cheap and for whatever reason there was roast beef on it... WHY! I actually said this is an adult lunchable. Long story short we decided to grab our check and cut ties with the $68 we lost trying something new. We didn't have bad attitudes in there and left respectfully but you guys... there are SO many amazing places out there that kill it and this wine bar will be added to " my never go back list " JJ's wine bar... you absolutely need to restructure and level up. I was really looking forward to trying JJ's and did so last night. Went with a friend who also enjoys wine. First the pros: Great downtown Franklin location with parking, wonderful, eclectic and comfortable atmosphere with friendly staff. You feel right at home. Cons: The prices are high for the quality of wine served; a full pour is only 5oz when a full pour most places is 6oz's. Wine options were limited and there was no information about any of the wines (that we found). The staff (again while very friendly and attentive) seemed to have no real wine knowledge and the food menu was ok but overpriced as well. Overall a very disappointing experience. read more

JJ's wine bar is a cool concept which I totally loved. You get your own tab when you get there and you basically can go through several rooms which have various seating options. One room has a bar/bartender and others a variety of wine options which get dispensed from machines. Again, the concept and atmosphere was really cool and I wish we had something like this in my area! You can eat a meal but we just had a small app with our wine while hanging out. I had heard mixed reviews, so I went in last night with a few girlfriends to check it out. The concept is a little difficult at first, but easy once you get the hang of it. Pros: The atmosphere of the place is great with low lighting and some amazing artwork. The 3 servers (one tall and extremely cute guy) where all very helpful and fun. There is a pretty good selection of wine (I think about 30 different wines). The appetizers were amazing (we tried the salsa, cheese plate, and hummus). The crowd seemed a little more hip than the majority of places in downtown Franklin and was a nice change. Cons: The management seemed a little haphazard (it seemed like there were as many managers as there were servers working). The place doesn't seem to know if they want to be high end or casual (servers where t-shirts with a clipart looking logo on them and there are tacky binders with wine information in them that looked like they were printed from google, yet the prices are high and overall atmosphere is more high end). The wraps are just ok, but defiantly not worth the money. They only have bottled beer and no liquor (but then again it is a wine bar). They also have a backroom that seems a bit like an afterthought. My suggestions to the owners: Keep your great waiting staff, but have them wearing button down shirts. Loose the sandwiches, but keep the amazing appetizers. Figure out what ever was going on with the multitude of managers because it looked like they were tripping over each other. All in all I would like to try it again. This place has a really nice ambiance. It looked like it drew in a crowd around the age of 40s/50s so it was really laid back. You open a tab with a card when you arrive and choose wines from the dispensary. You can select a taste, half a glass, or full glass. The tastes can range from 1.50-9.00 (for the super expensive wines around $90 a bottle). The tastes I think were around 3 oz, which was plenty for me since I wanted to try as many wines as possible. We ordered the hummus and it was seriously the best hummus I have ever had! The reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because I would love to see more wine selections. I think there were about 10 to choose from the dispensary. I like that this place is affordable. And your tab is shown on the dispensary machine when the card is inserted which is wonderful. Very unique concept!! My husband and I went here after dinner and enjoyed wine along with the fondue dessert. Would recommend this place if your looking for good wine and a fun/relaxing atmosphere. We had a very unfortunate experience her. While the location is not very close to where we live, especially during normal heavy traffic times in Nashville, we ventured to the location because my daughter gave me a gift card for my birthday earlier this year. She told me the person who sold it to her said the gift certificate would be held at the bar for us and just to ask for it when we got there. I did that and the lady up front first said they don't do things like that (holding a gift card). She then half-heartedly looked through a stack of what appeared to be credit cards and some gift cards at the bottom and told me there was nothing there with my name on it. Finally she told me that owner would have to deal with it but the owner was at a Christmas party and might get back to her at some point. We were free to hang out and spend our own cash until the owner did (or did not) call back. The atmosphere created was not welcoming and we felt as if being treated with suspicion (we weren't dressed as fancy as some we saw come in after us - me in jeans and a nice sweater, my wife dressed in black slacks and blouse). If you plan to get a gift certificate/card for a friend or family member from this place, PLEASE make sure they mail it to you and don't accept the claim that it will be "held at the bar." read more

I first came to JJ's about two years ago, and really enjoyed the charcuterie board and definitely loved the wide range of wines to select from! the dispensing machines were super because I could try a bunch of different wines without having to commit to a full glass. As I understand, the dispensers also keep the wines from being exposed to too much air, which could cause them to turn. The reason for my less than 5-star review at all was that when we opted to bring 4 of our friends with us one Saturday night last month, a couple of nights after a snowfall, we all wound up peering into the windows at a dark restaurant that was closed. There was no message on the VM that the restaurant was closed, no sign on the door, and no change on the Google page or business website that the restaurant was closed. I'm sure it was due to the snow that had previously fallen, but our group wound up going to a completely packed Drake's and finally landed at Jonathan's because by that time of night (7:30), everyone else was full. We would have loved for someone to just change the communication somehow to fit the weather closure. read more

The concept is cool. The atmosphere is neat. It's priced a little high, but almost all wine in restaurants is. The food is a bit expensive and you don't get a lot for the price. However, you're not really paying for the food and wine as much as a night out with friends or your significant other in the downtown Franklin area. For that, it's worth the extra money. I'm glad JJ's is around. It's not somewhere I plan on going weekly, but on the rare occasion my husband and I go out on a real date (vs going to Home Depot), it's a fun treat. read more

The concept is a fun idea, but I found it expensive and a little intimidating since the dispensers are in the other rooms of the house. The porch is great and we were greeted by the really nice owner. The service was extremely slow...20 minutes to refill an empty water glass. Like most of the reviews, the food has no taste and was not presented well. We had the seared ahi (room temp - ick), turkey sliders (bland and overcooked), french onion soup that was not hot and had no flavor. The antipasto plate ($24) was the worst. It was average cheeses Publix would sell...cheddar, mozzarella, manchego and the meats were salami, roast beef, etc...so unimpressive, especially for the price. I might bring someone back to see the dispensers, but I wouldn't return as a local. Such a great idea in an awesome location...poor execution and quality. read more

The tapas should be priced at no more than half of what they asked: $9 for four slices of toasted bread with a sprinkle of blue cheese and a drizzle if fig reduction? A cheese platter with two slices each of 5 cheeses for $14? What we had was delicious but $$$. The staff was nice but less than informed on the wines. A gentleman asked one of the main waitresses for a bold, smokey red and she couldn't direct him to one. The live music was good but way too loud for the venue; no chance of conversation in the room they were in. Was surprised that on a Friday there was no live music, here in Franklin the little music city. Not only do they have games and stuff you can play while enjoying your wine and food which makes a great game night. You certainly have the option to a fancy date night. The wine machines are absolutely a blast and so unique. Great quality wine and many options for you to choose. They have different rooms with different styles so it really is a amazing ambience for a wine bar. The hostess was so engaging and such a great feeling seeing a smile when you walk in. The servers are FABULOUS very pleasant attitudes , big bright smiles, and very attentive. I've worked at many places and have not received customer service this good often. A complete joy and surprise to experience. Don't even get me started on the food. FIREEEE. I'm a vegetarian so very picky, the menu had everything I could eat as well as great quality. I really love the selection of food to go with your wine. I really enjoyed the seating selection as well. I just wish there was a bit larger selection of wine, but I can completely understand why there isn't. I've been to a similar establishment in New Orleans where they offer a much larger selection of wines. But in Franklin I can understand why that might be more risky since some of the wines not be consumed before spoiling after opening. The price of small town living, I suppose. My husband and I went to JJ's Wine Bar for the first time this past Sunday. We were looking for an interesting bar in downtown Franklin and were very pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed this wine bar. It definitely exceeded my expectations, and we found it a very relaxing place with an upscale ambiance, and much to be enjoyed. We chose to sit inside on plush leather furniture, but could have just as easily chosen a table in the outdoor space. The wine was very good, as was the specialty sangria that I had. We met another couple who were also there for the first time and ended up chatting quite some time. We ordered the smoked salmon appetizer and the vegetable wrap - both were excellent. I am SO glad that Franklin has a wine bar like this! Other places I've lived (Orange County, Las Vegas, etc) have had wine bars similar to these and I was bummed that I couldn't find any in Nashville. However since I live in Franklin it's even better that this place is here, right off Main Street downtown! There is ample parking (although I came earlier on a Friday - around 6 pm. When we left a few hours later, the parking lot was more full). You are greeted by a friendly host right when you enter, where you're given a debit card which you use for both the wine tastings and to order food if you'd like. There was a lot of available seating. Either regular tables and chairs or more sofa style seating. I thought it would be more crowded on a Friday night but it wasn't bad at all. There is a decent selection of all types of wines and you can get a taste, regular sized glass or large glass. My one complaint about this place is that compared to other similar wine tasting places I've been to, this place is super expensive. There were three of us and we spent $150 (including top) and didn't get that much to eat. So unless you're keeping track of how much you're drinking, you can end up spending a ton of money. The food menu is not gourmet but offers a nice selection of small bites like hummus, salads, flat breads, etc. I found the staff to be very friendly and the owner herself even stopped by our table to say hello. Overall I really liked this place and will definitely be back! Definitely check this place out if you ever find yourself in Downtown Franklin. read more
