The Pond is a self described dive bar located in a strip mall area in Franklin Tennessee…read more I like to patronize places that aren't chains and aren't super popular spots when I travel, as I enjoy being around common folks in areas that I go to. The Pond doesn't disappoint. It is exactly what one would expect when seeking a dive bar atmosphere. A little ratty, a little rowdy and a whole lot of fun. The coup de grace was they had Guinness on tap, which was completely unexpected. We traveled to Franklin looking for an alternative to Broadway in Nashville on our first night in town. It is worth the trip. Franklin is a very old town with great old architecture and buildings over 200 years old that still look stunning. The Pond was the real reason for my drive down although it was our last stop on our tour of Franklin. The staff was friendly, the Hamburger and fries was delicious, and the beer was cold. They have many options to choose from on tap. They have Darts inside and a couch you'd find down in your friends basement that he found on a tree bank trash day, but that simply adds to the dive bar charm. We stayed for one drink and the burger as we were exhausted from a red eye flight the night before. If you're looking for a dive bar that stays open late and apparently gets packed as the night goes on, this is the spot for you. Most places close early in Franklin, so this is apparently the after hours spot that everyone ends up going to when all other options are closed. The Pond reminded me of a few dive bar spots in Vegas, and I have to recommend you pay them a visit, if for no other reason, just to say you've been there.

I wouldn't be able to speak on the service as I usually order to go or briefly stop in, but I'm sure they do well. This Neighbors sits in the large mixed use development in the Aspen Grove/McEwen area of…read moreFranklin/Cool Springs and is a solid addition to the area and to the Neighbors brand! They occupy a great corner in the complex, which is a stellar location and allows for a good sized patio in addition to the dining room and bar area. That patio also makes bringing the pups a lot easier. As with all Neighbors, they are all about sports and with walls and walls of TV's, you cannot miss the game or event you are after! Food and drink here are solid. If you have never been to Neighbors, it is true sports bar food with wings, nachos, burgers, sandwiches, pretzel bites, etc...and a few house specialties, but mostly your standard stuff. And that is not a bad thing, while simple, they do it well and I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered here. Service is friendly and good, but efficient is questionable as they recently introduced a flag based system where you put your number card on your stand and when your server notices it, they come your way. My only issue is this takes the natural check-in's of service away and while the idea is good in theory, execution is still a bit clunky as we had to seek out our server twice after having our card displayed for several minutes. Overall, big fan of the Neighbors brand and really enjoy this location in Frankin!

Stable Reserve is such a gem in downtown Franklin. We originally stopped in just for a quick drink…read moreand snack as a mid-day reset, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. We grabbed one of the small outdoor tables on a warm spring afternoon--perfectly shaded, great temperature, and honestly an ideal people-watching spot. I started with the Black Tie espresso martini. I had my eye on the Sunburnt, but since their espresso martinis typically include dairy (and I'm lactose intolerant), the bartender went above and beyond to accommodate me. They made a dairy-free version of the Black Tie and even added coconut--it was absolutely delicious. Jonathan went with the Summer Mule, which was everything you want in a mule with a tropical twist from the pineapple--light, crisp, and refreshing. But the second round is what completely sold us. Jonathan ordered the Double Oaked Old Fashioned--we were warned it was high proof and spirit-forward, which is exactly our style. It did not disappoint. I went with the Tea Time Old Fashioned, made with tea-infused whiskey, and it was everything I hoped for: reminiscent of a sweet tea bourbon, but more bourbon-forward and not overly sweet. Both drinks were dangerously good--we finished them way too quickly. They were unfortunately out of cheese for the charcuterie board, so we pivoted to the "Main Stream Mix" of nuts. Jonathan's official review: "underrated." Honestly, he's right--it was super flavorful and weirdly addictive for a nut mix. The staff were incredibly friendly, and there was even live music playing inside. It was the perfect volume--more of a background vibe than a full performance--so we could easily carry on a conversation without having to shout over it, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a great experience--we wouldn't hesitate to come back!

I was talking up this drink I originally had there, but also had at the sister location in DT Nashville that they called to get the recipe and surprised me at the table with after raving about it (the international) the waitress proceeded to argue that I had the name wrong it was a pretty gross experience. Do not look at any online menus wait until you get to the restaurant. We had a colleague who is celiac we asked about a separate menu (you would have thought I asked if they did brain surgery) because there are no markers on the regular menu, the waitress proceeds to lecture the person on what they should order at restaurants... She was a different individual interacting with the mens end of the table than she was with the lady's side. We opted to share several things. Thankfully the food is still on point. And it is still beautiful. The drinks we ordered were tasty. That is why this review got a 3 and not a 2.
