Ratings Husband - 4 star - roast beef Son - 4 - alligator Me - 3 - burger Sides - fried green tomatoes & red beans & rice. I got outvoted and they got a 4. Husband got the roast beef. He enjoyed it but thought it was too much bread. He prefers when they pull some of the bread out. It had debris and that's probably why he gave them a 4. We shared a side of red beans & rice. He thought the flavors were nice. I did not. It was like playing a game of find the beans. It was overly spicy and resembled a sausage soup. I've never had soupy red beans & rice (that barely had any beans) before so I wasn't a fan. Son got the alligator and fried green tomatoes. He really liked the sandwich. It looked like it had a nice amount of gator in it. The fried green tomatoes were overly spiced (come on not everything in Cajun food is a heat bomb - I'm from New Orleans so I know my Cajun food). Having said that - the tomatoes were done right. Not greasy and the crisp was good. Me - burger and this was where things went sideways and they lost a star. I have food allergies. I very carefully pick places where I can eat and make sure to stress what I cannot have. It's nothing crazy. Seafood, dairy, eggs.... so I chose the burger with no cheese. I don't like pickles or onions so asked those be removed as well. It comes out, no cheese. Yay! But it had so many pickles in it! I spent a good amount of time deconstructing it. Then there was the meat to bread ratio. 1/3 of the sandwich was just bread. I wasn't a fan of how they placed the burger on it. I thought it was a good idea to make a burger po'boy but the burger should have been placed differently or something. So between the "find the beans" soup and the mostly bread burger? Great , cozy place located inside of The Factory. I split the half Muffaletta with my husband & it was a perfect portion for lunch. We both even took some home. I suggest ordering a little extra of the olive salad ( tapenade) that comes on it. I will definitely request more on my next visit because there wasn't enough for me. Finding a place to eat in Franklin after 8 p.m. on a weeknight can be a challenge--especially if you're looking for something local and not a chain. Fortunately, The White Alligator popped up in my search. Nestled inside The Factory at Franklin, it was easy to find, and the staff and management were very welcoming. I ordered the Alligator Po'Boy and a cup of gumbo (which really should have been a bowl because it was that good). The gumbo was hearty enough to be a meal on its own. The po'boy was labeled "regular," but it came out as two large pieces--more like a giant cut--packed with tender, flavorful meat. I'll definitely be back! The whole process from ordering to getting our food was less than 10 minutes. They have a full bar in the back and they make one hell of a Sazerac. Great ambience. A good spot for dinner with the fam or a drink at the bar after work. I've eaten the shrimp & oyster poboy a few times here and it's the closest I can find to an authentic Cajun poboy. One critique I have is the bread is not great, the restaurant would be better off shipping in Reisings straight from New Orleans. I also recently tried the chicken and sausage gumbo and it was pretty underwhelming. It has a nice dark base so you can tell the roux was made right, however there was little to no chicken (what was there were strings of chicken) and the rice was undercooked. Chef needs a tad practice. Oh and this is a creole gumbo (as opposed to the more popular Cajun gumbo in south Louisiana), so if you don't like tomato's then beware. read more

And it's one of only a few truly authentic Cajun restaurants in Middle Tennessee. The catfish po'boy is exceptional! But the crispy catfish isn't the only highlight as there is something truly special about the finely shredded lettuce complementing the chewy bread and flavorful batter! I'll have to come back for the alligator po'boy because they're almost impossible to find in Tennessee. The Cajun fries are pretty good but not as exceptional as the sandwich. The beignets were tasty, but way too thick compared to my favorites in Louisiana. Beignets are usually light and airy while these are dense like a loaf of bread. The White Alligator is a spot our whole family can agree on. This has been a regular spot for us for almost a year. It was our first meal after moving here. Find them across the hall from Honest Coffee Roasters in The Factory. You order at the counter, receive an order number, find a table, and the food is delivered to the table. Our food usually comes out in about 10 minutes. In the back they have a full bar if you want a drink. The restaurant has about a dozen tables. There are booth table combos in the front and tables in the back. High chairs are in the back section of the restaurant. The menu offers a variety of Po boys, seafood platters (with fries, hush puppies, and fries), salads, gumbo, jambalaya, and a muffuletta. There are two kid meal options. My favorites here are the Shrimp Platter (blackened or fried are great) and Shrimp Wedge Salad. My daughter loves the Fried Shrimp Kid's Meal with Fries. My husband loves any of the Po boys. I had red beans and rice, and my spouse had a mufeletta. We agreed they were probably the best we'd had outside of Louisianna. Followed lunch with beignets. They were good, but I think they'd have been better if they had been smaller so they would have cooked up more crispy, but we still enjoyed them, and while they may not be the Cafe du Monde in the New Orleans French Quarter, they were certainly good. My one disappointment was the noise level. It was roughly 2 in the afternoon, and perhaps a total of 12 people dining, but the voices of the other patrons were suprisingly loud considering how few they were. We've been here regularly, almost always choosing the mixed seafood platter. It was an unfortunate choice this time . Both the shrimp and especially the oysters had the taste and texture of having been fried and sitting out for a while. The oysters were barely bigger than marbles. The catfish was a bit better. The fries were over seasoned and over salted and mostly limp. Neither of us could eat more than half. We ate recently at Voodoo Gumbo in Bellevue. As I posted in my review of that lunch, it could barely be improved upon. As we are about equidistant from both, it will be a while before The White Alligator gets our trade again. read more

The burger was certainly generous but he didn't think it had enough flavor and it was hard to eat. My jambalaya bowl was delicious and I ate every bit. I had a great lunch here, and am happy that The White Alligator has opened in the Factory in Franklin, which is quickly blossoming into a fantastic destination. The young woman at the register was super friendly and helpful, and accommodated me by making recommendations on what I should order. I went with the Fried Shrimp Po-Boy and the Gumbo. Both were really delicious. The bread in particular was fantastic, but I enjoyed every bit of everything. While you place your order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you, there was still plenty of staff around and they were attentive. Several checked in on my while I was eating. When we came into the restaurant, we were told we can order up front and sit at a table or have full service at the bar. We opted for full service. The bartender was fantastic!
