I called every electrician in the area to climb into the attic and everybody had a $500 fee just to climb the ladder. John came out gave us honest assessment had no fee And ended up we didn't even need to go into the attic. He got the job done with minimal time charged his hourly rate and did a fantastic job. Excellent. Book a schedule to have our Tesla Wall Charger installed. He arrived early and ready! He recommends installing from the main breaker panel outside into the house but due to our Tesla parked further in on the opposite side of the garage, the 24' Tesla cable was not long enough and a trip hazard. We decided to connect closer to subpanel on a 50A breaker with 6AWG copper wires. The Tesla is able to charge up to its max rating of 48A. Which is much conveniently placed should we get a second Tesla down the road. Fired up and running on the first try. read more

I owe Jim this late post review! Out of 5 companies, I called this company and Jim called me back almost right away! I spoke to Jim the owner/tech and we set up a date and time. He arrived on time and some how I knew, I had the right man for the job. I asked him to install an ac outlet for two of my flat screen tvs and extra outlets for wiring HDMI and sound cables behind the wall to make it look clean! He finalized the job and even showed me how the electricians who built my home did not take the time to properly wire some of the AC outlets clean and effective. He rewired the outlets, made sure they were all working, channeled all the wiring behind the wall to give that clean professional look. He did warn me that he had to cut the sheetrock , small squares but that could be patched later and it was the thing to do to make it look clean. I agreed, I asked him to take a look at a problem with a braker on my garage and said I needed to add another direct outlet because my compressor draws too much juice and keeps popping the breaker. He had to cut some of the sheetrock to get the job done right, added a dedicated outlet, put the sheetrock back and problem solved. He quoted me a decent price for each outlet and solved every problem one at a time. He did cut the sheetrock because there was no way around that but I already called someone who came to patch it all up, textured and painted it, looks clean and all my outlets work without any issues. I plan on calling Jim again! Other contractors were charging me tripple or quatruple what Jim quoted me! He is one of the few old school technicians who has the experience to show for and prefers to have customers call him again than lose a customer for being greedy and over pricing his work! John (the owner) fixed what turned out to be a minor issue. Then I asked him to look at another issue (an outlet that wasn't working). He gave me very good advice about options to fix the outlet (a high-price option he didn't recommend and a lower-price option. He also explained why the previous homeowner's renovations probably created a mess to fix it if I pursued the high-price option) but made it clear that since I wasn't using the outlet much that it would be reasonable to do nothing. In other words, he wasn't pushing unnecessary repairs on me and seemed motivated to make sure I got what was best for me. He bills a minimum for the first hour (which is totally reasonable and industry standard), and since he still had time in that hour after working on the above two issues, he asked whether I had other things to be addressed (in other words, on his own, he made sure I got the most out of that 1-hour fee). So I had him take a look at another thing, which again turned out to be minor. There was still a bit of time in that hour, so he again asked me if there was anything else to work on! John was clearly interested in giving me the best service within his reasonable fees. On top of it, he was very personable (sharing stories about his family) and humorous. read more

John is great! This is my second review (did one over 4 years ago) - he was wonderful then and is still wonderful now. He was only going to come out to give us a estimate and then make a follow up appointment. Our old hot water heater "burst" on Christmas night and wasn't repairable. We had to purchase a new one and opted to have a pump (didn't know we needed a nearby outlet until after the water heater was installed - very shady). Called in because the front of my house is pitch black at night and it's difficult just to see the door. John was very nice and you can tell he has experience. I called and setup an appointment window from 4-6pm the next day, but he called and arrived around noon. Was quotes $200 for 2 front lights and a dryer plug by a nice woman over the phone. After inspection he was able to quickly get the dryer working again by some wires that had been disconnected. Secondly he was only able to replace the porch light, and not the garage light because the wire had been cut. So I was happy with the dryer and porch light. Ended up costing my $100 which is a huge plus. I recommend , just remember to clear space so he can get to the breaker read more

I had a GFI outlet and also GFI circuit breaker switch triggered by too much wattage going at once. The problem is that I could not switch back the GFI circuit breaker switch and the GFI outlet was not working after this happened. I called a few electricians, including JM Electricric. I live in a 1931 house has bee wired and rewired over the years. Needless to say electrical issues are expected. I've been lucky that most issues are minor and I've repaired them myself. But, then the big one happened: the overhead lights went out in the Kitchen, 1/2 bath, dinning room, laundry room and porch. I had 2 electricians try to find the problem that I paid and they both left scratching their heads. The 3rd one had a heavy workload and couldn't carve out the time to help me (and didn't charge me for the one visit). JM Electric is amazing. As the other posts suggest, John is a super nice guy, and his work is excellent. My husband and I bought and old 1911 bungalow, we hired one company, and they were pretty good, but John was hands down the best. He was responsive to our calls and emails, he clearly explained the work that needed to be done to fix the problems we called him about, and best of all, he didn't oversell his services. When we needed something he told us, and when we didn't (e.g., and expensive re-wiring of knob/tube wiring) he dissuaded us from fixing a something that wasn't broke. He re-wired our kitchen, cleaned up bits of the knob/tube wiring, inspected that wiring & certified its safety, installed a range hood in the kitchen, added a GFI outlet for our subpump, added an external outlet at the back of our house, and fixed the door bell.
