I'm new to the area and needed a new salon so I thought I'd give Jmac a try. You can bet that I will be back now after the great experience I had. The studio is next door to the Be Fit Cafe in Powell in a little strip mall. When you walk in, the staff are very welcoming and offer coffee or lemon water. And you'll notice the salon is very bright and clean. I had the wonderful Taylor as my stylist. She is so friendly and nice, wanting to ensure you get the right look. I loved the whole process, from the shampoo massage to the final straightening. She even told me to let her know if I didn't like my cut after styling it myself at home, which was one of the greatest things I've ever heard at a salon. I felt very reassured through the process, especially because I was making a pretty big cut. Honestly, she was really fun to talk to. I was really nervous about going to a new hair stylist after my girl moved to Utah. But I did my checking on reviews on Yelp (Yes I sure do use yelp) and found this place. Now this place is not this close to me. I live in Hilliard and this is in Powell. Not bad but not super convenient either. Any way, the young girl, Katie Nicole did a awesome job. I had a cut and color and she matched my roots perfectly. I even changed my mind on my haircut mid way thru her cut. She handled the change great and I love the cut and color. I don't know if this counts for JMAC or not, but it'll do. :) I go to JMAC and see my stylist, Loren Ball, in the private suites, which are off to the right behind the main check-in counter. Loren is amazing! She listens to what you want, gives you a great consult and offers her suggestions, and then executes perfectly. I have curly hair and it is HARD to find a stylist who does well with curls. Loren is open to trying new methods of styling, and she is always looking for ways to better her skills. She does hair 10 hours a day (and more!) and then goes home and still wants to play online and find articles and Pinterest pins and everything else ABOUT HAIR. I love this salon! I get my hair done by Linde and she's so talented! She has given me a couple of balyage's and they turned out awesome! She does what you want, and what's best for your hair. She suggests great products, but would never make you buy something that is not necessary. Also, I think that the prices are right for what you get! read more

My sister recently went to this salon and saw Ashley. She saved up to get a color correction for months and even went in to get a colsultation and was quoted $175 at the most. Today when she was finally finished, her hair was black and not light brown like she asked for. Not only this but she was charged $195 and the explanation we were given was for a shampoo and blow dry even though during the appointment my sister asked if a style would increase the price and was told no. I don't understand how you can be charged for a shampoo when your hair must be washed to rinse out the product. In my opinion this place is very overrated and they took advantage of someone who was too young to understand. Now that her hair is black I don't see how she is going to get the balayage that she wanted. read more

The second time I went to JMACs was for an eyebrow, pedi and mani by Bly. She was awesome and convinced me to do shellac. I couldn't be happier. I rescheduled for another shellac appt. with Bly, but she longer works there. :( My appt was rescheduled with Abby, very nice and funny, not skilled in Shellac but she did an excellent job on my lip wax - quick! read more

I have been to Jmac for a couple of years now and it is by far the best Salon I have ever been to. My hair has been everything from platinum blonde all the way to dark brown with balayage and Linde (my hairstylist) has never failed me. I always leave the salon looking ONE MILLION times better than when I came in. Even though I have moved away from Powell I still insist on driving an hour just to have Linde do my hair. Not only is Linde amazing, but the owner, manager, and rest of the staff never fail to make the experience I have there a great one. You can tell that they care about their costumers and will do everything in their power to make sure they have the best salon experience. The salon is clean, the staff is anh and the prices sound attractive BUT the girl who did my hair just up charged the crap out of everything. All I had done was a single process color, that's it. No cut, highlights, nada. So she, Linde, tells me her prices start at $48 and I was like OK. Once the dye is already in my hair she proceeds to tell me really fast that it's an extra $20 to blow dry my hair. What? Seriously? Well, OK I'm not paying that. Mind you, it is the dead of winter too. She's like so your hair is $72 without the blow dry. I'm like, wait, wait so how did I go from $48 to $72? She proceeds to tell me some mumbo jumbo that I don't understand. I guess the undertone in the color is an additional charge and she charged me for regrowth. What? Regrowth, um i had zero roots. She put a 15 min, semi perm color on my hair for $72. I asked her again to explain and it just made zero sense to me. So I said something as I was checking out and the manager was like I'll go get her and the whole ordeal was just more hassle than it was worth. The color did look nice for a day but the instant I washed it, the two gray hairs I was trying to cover up were peering back out at me to say hello and that she assured me the demi perm color would cover the few grays. Blah. I'd rather pay $72 and go to JBentley where you are pampered and don't have to pay extra for a blow dry. The whole point of me going to this salon was to find something more affordable. Not so much. I HATE when businesses try to scam people like that. Greedy, scumbags. Charging me for stuff that didn't make sense and trying to sneak in up charges. read more

Have been going to JMAC for 2 years now and Linde is one of the best stylists -- hands down! I've never had someone pay so close attention to each strand of hair. I don't understand the review here that she "talked some Mumbo Jumbo" that wasn't understood. She is very upfront and personable. A truly remarkable stylist. I am in the salon every 3-4 weeks and I've seen her do everything from short to down-to-your butt hair. And her color work is extraordinary.
