Had a bad morning and wanted to treat myself to something good. I remembered this place was right around the corner so why not. Their website says "breakfast from 9-12pm", came in @11am and was told "breakfast was ending and the oxtail plate are dinner prices." Questionable but it's business I guess.. The generous amount of food for $27 tried to make up for it. Well actually, it was the oxtail that made up for it. Tender. Juicy with every bite. And literally had to catch it from falling off the bone. As you can see, no meat was wasted (pause) It did brighten up my day a bit and I'm glad places like this serve flavorful oxtail close by Rice was too mushy for my taste and potato salad could use more of a kick. Overall, 4/5

I finally got around to checking out Joan's & Sisters for the first time. I decided to stop by after work around 3pm. The place was pretty much empty, there was only one customer at the time. It was a friendly Belizean man who spoke highly of the food. It reassured me that the food I was about to order was going to be good. I ordered their Ox Tail plate, which was about $25. It's definitely not the cheapest plate, but for the amount of food they give, I would say it's worth it. The Ox Tail plate can definitely feed two people, in my opinion. The flavors were there and nothing was overpowering. The Ox Tails were juicy and tender. The potato salad was surprisingly good. The rice and beans together with the plantains is a must. I live so close to this place I can't believe I didn't try it sooner.

Joan and sisters are one of the best restaurant in LA they give you a lot for your money. I can feed my entire family with orders really, don't miss that meal it's right there on Western and you can enjoy your stew chicken your oxtails your rice with gravy, your potato salad or ooh don't forget those plantas.B they let you have it and they have other things I've been eating there for years. Don't go just anywhere expect to spend at least a 50 $60 or $100 if you buy four orders because it's worth it you can eat several days I'm telling you it's the word to the peoBelize Breakfast plenty right now

We were in the area and wanted to try this out. We found it and were disappointed it wasn't a dine in restaurant. The menu looked interesting enough. Decided on another place but will surely be back to try again next time.

Oh my! I've always seen this place passing by but never went in. My fiancé was craving oxtails so I thought of this place. I called the order in and it was ready for me as soon as I arrived. Very clean on the inside and the lady at the front was in good spirits which made me happy Baby when I picked up these plates they were HEAVY! The portions are definitely generous. And the fooooood..so so good. Cooked with love you can TASTE. I would definitely ask for extra gravy next time..because there will definitely be a next time. Rice was hard in some bites but I am stuffed and satisfied! Thank you for the FANTASTIC MEAL

BEST OXTAIL & MEAT PIES!!! My wife has been telling me about this place for a couple of years and we finally made the drive over. We specifically drove over for the Oxtail but I saw their Meat Pies and decided to get one for the road. Truly one of the best decisions I've made. The Oxtail is served with white rice and red beans, potato salad, and plantains. I'm pretty sure the to-go box weighed 5 lbs. The meat falls off the bone like tender stew meat. Freaking amazing! The Meat Pies are made to perfection. Hearty, full of flavor, and the crust has the right balance of crunch and fluffy. This is a Black Owned Business, authentic, delicious, and worth every penny and more. I know this millenial of me to say but it's... FIRE!!!!!!

My wife and I were craving for Jamaican patties which we haven't had for a while. A search on Yelp brought us here. It's a humble food stall with just a few decor in the food hall but wow. The patties are packed with flavor and complexity. It's spiced, crumbly, and well textured. It's literally mouth watering thinking about it. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day to have more and buy some to take home too. Trust me. It's worth trying.

They have some imported drinks and some pastries on display at their counter. After ordering, they let us know that our food will be ready in 10-15 minutes, no buzzer, so just keep the time in mind when you're ordering. Service is friendly and timely with their estimate. For our visit, we got the Chicken Curry with Rice and Peas. This comes with potatoes, peas, and channa (spiced chickpeas) stewed throughout the coconut rice with curried chicken. Super moist chicken and generous portions. Definitely enough to share amongst 3 adults but can get a bit messy. Make sure you have napkins and if you're taking it to go, to make sure it doesn't tip over! We also got the cheese roll and the Jamaican style beef patty. Easy enough to cut up and share, a bit oily, but it made the pastries deliciously flaky and addicting to eat. I can probably just consume one of these quite easily on my own. I took a bite of my friend's order of jerk chicken and it had a pretty good kick to it. Good stuff and solid choice for dinner at Blossom Market Hall.

I tried some griot and thought it could have marinated longer. The portions felt very huge. The service here is really friendly and accommodating. The food came put after not too long of a wait and it was hot. The space is cool. It looks like an old diner. There's konpa playing in the background and games like Uno & Dominos available if you want to play. We also got two Haitian beef patties to go. They're legit! This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
