I'm always looking for Jamaican kitchen restaurants and was glad to know this place was fairly close and had a lot of great reviews. There is mainly street parking, which can be limiting depending on the time of day, of course. Although the place is on the smaller side, the ambiance was nice, and the customer service was very adequate. We had a mixture of a lot of the items on the menu, and the standouts were definitely the oxtails and the jerk chicken.

Bold rich spicy those are just a few words you'd use to describe island cuisine. Beautiful sorry you're not meeting that mark. As I have stated before I'm harder on island cuisine cause I'm an islander. Yes I love the concept I love the look, but I this is a spot I'd take my friend who liked Caribbean and didn't like their meals seasoned. Ordered the one beef and one chicken patty but when. Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show. When you eat oxtails your suppose to be like damn licking them fingers more than the colonels chicken. I have to give to give the young lady with the short hair her props she had a larger party plus us ordering and she still was able to multitask efficiently.

Patty was cold in the middle and microwaved up obviously can't believe they would served this dog food

This was the worst experience I have ever had in my life my video will explain it all ! It shows a real time reaction to my food and how it was presented to me for a Togo order ! I have never been to a Jamaican restaurant with mexican hot sauce excuse my lack of knowledge if that's normal lol but when I was in Jamaica I never saw one mexican hot sauce smh enjoy the video and never go eat at this over rated and expensive place that puts gratuity on your Togo bill

    * The Beef Patty was hot, flaky, and savory * The Oxtail was very tender easily fell off the bone while the rice was fluffy and flavorful * The Jerk Chicken was smokey, soft, and had a good amount of kick to it * Overall, a great spot with friendly service and great Jamaican food

Tried this place after seeing numerous recommendations come across Instagram. We came on a Saturday afternoon, when we arrived we were the only ones there. The food was fresh and flavorful. The Abeautifullife punch was ok. Really enjoyed the oxtail Mac and the oxtail ragu. The food was steaming when it came out. It was an enjoyable experience, however 18% gratuity is automatically charged to each bill. Our bill came out to $300 and it was only myself and my husband. Major disappointment was the festival beignets, definitely wasn't expecting it to be festival with powdered sugar on top for $10. Beignets are light and airy

Came here for a friend's birthday, and from the moment we walked in, the energy was on point. The staff is warm, friendly, and makes you feel like family right away. I started with a beef patty flaky, golden crust with that perfectly seasoned filling that lets you know they don't play when it comes to flavor. Then came the oxtail mac & cheese, which was rich, cheesy, and full of tender bites of oxtail. But the star of the night? Hands down the oxtail ragu. Deep, savory, slow cooked perfection the kind of dish you remember long after the last bite. Drinks were solid, service stayed attentive, and the aesthetics + vibes were unmatched. The whole space radiates Black excellence from the decor to the music to the unapologetic authenticity in every detail. If you're looking for a spot that blends soulful Jamaican flavors with an atmosphere that celebrates culture and community, A Beautiful Life is exactly

Let me just start by saying I'm glad this place is right in the middle of little Tokyo. Something about mixing cultures just fills my cup. Diamond was great she was attentive, kind and very personable. Ambiance was good I liked the music playing with the music videos in the background. We ordered quite a few staples: Mac n Cheese Ox tails. Wow! The Ox tail plate with rice beans and cabbage, Yummy! The lamb: I knew was good because my partner didn't even offer Lol. I did try to order the "Hot Girl Summer Salad" but it is not in season. I guess a reason to come back. Jamaican Beef Pattie: Satisfying, flaky the beef was just right. Parking isn't hard you can look for St parking or park at one of the nearest pay for parking lots. I would also like to add maybe make the menu brighter and bolder Lol I can't see. Overall Thank you guys, I'll see you again later.

Drink from the restaurant - on Island time

We came here on a Thursday night for a date night. The restaurant was essentially empty. There was only one other customer being served. Inside of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful and they play some nice Caribbean music. Our server was nice and got our order quickly. Once the drink came, I ordered the on island time and it was amazing. However, the white rice was salty. And the oxtails weren't exactly authentic but they were great. All in all, 4 out of 5 for sure.

If you plan on trying to place out, i highly suggest you Uber here because parking sucks lol. Took us 30 minutes to find parking. We decided to come here because of few videos we saw hyping the place up. I'm going to assume this place is active only during brunch because we went for dinner & it was empty empty. Staff was 10/10, super nice and attentive. Now the restaurant needs some TLC. The bathroom had no toilet paper, no seat covers and dead water roaches on the floor. That just threw the cleanliness vibe off for me for the whole restaurant. As for the food, it was ok, I've had better Jamaican food 5/10 for my liking. We got dessert to go just to discover one of the cheesecakes had mold on it. Definitely would not be going back.

honeycomb hideout. still my favorite secret place. details for the original location is marked as closed -- it isn't . was told it's only open on certain days for select hours . ¿¿ that should be clarified on the listing. the vibe is always just right. no matter what time of day , it's always the right time.

My wife and I really enjoyed this place. The service was great and our server D was pleasant. The food came out in a timely manner and was fairly good. The fried oysters were real good. The jerk chicken wings were cool, but I had better. The beef patties and coco bread were good as hell! My wife really liked the curry chicken. I had the jerk shrimp pasta and it was ok. It was too salty for my liken and probably wouldn't go for it again. The ambiance was cool, music was nice and low but you can still hear it and nice seating. We will be back to try other options on the menu.

Is this worth a reputation? Come on man.
    Andy S.

I live all the way in whittier and I ordered this my 3rd time by uber eats. Both 2 times everything was fine and when I get this 3rd order the bag felt light. I look in the box and it's half quantity of what I've always ordered before. When people live far and pay a premium for food, you guys shouldn't do this man. Why did you decide to be stingy this 3rd time when everything was going great before? This quantity is ridiculous man. Look at the pictures. Not cool at all.

My cousin and I go out every year for Valentine's Day and we decided on this restaurant. I am very happy we picked this one because it was fantastic. The restaurant had a nice date night vibe with the music, dimly lit, and the relaxing vibe atmosphere. When we entered we were offered a complimentary glass of champagne and showed to our seats. I didn't catch our servers name but the server had burgundy locs and was so helpful and polite!! I'll definitely be asking for that server again! Regarding the food; we got the oxtail Mac and cheese, jerk lamb chops, and shrimp egg rolls. I have to say each item was delicious! The extra plus that enjoyed that every single item was scorching hot when it came to our table. The oxtail was tender and falling off of the bone. They also give you at least four oxtails which I was happy about. The jerk lamb chops were tender as well with the right amount of spice for me. I enjoyed the egg rolls too, I do plan on trying a different protein filling. Overall, we plan on coming back to try the brunch because that section of the menu seemed very inviting. This is definitely a place to try and just for the oxtail alone!

For our visit, we got the Chicken Curry with Rice and Peas. This comes with potatoes, peas, and channa (spiced chickpeas) stewed throughout the coconut rice with curried chicken. Super moist chicken and generous portions. Definitely enough to share amongst 3 adults but can get a bit messy. Make sure you have napkins and if you're taking it to go, to make sure it doesn't tip over! We also got the cheese roll and the Jamaican style beef patty. Easy enough to cut up and share, a bit oily, but it made the pastries deliciously flaky and addicting to eat. I can probably just consume one of these quite easily on my own. Hands down the best Jamaican beef patty I've ever had, crispy, beefy, savory, ridiculously aromatic, and that little dab of habanero sauce had my mouth pleasantly on fire for a minute!! The curry chicken was no slouch either. I stole a bite of the roti dunked in that rich curry sauce, and wow... so flavorful and delicious!! This area is not familiar to us at all, and we don't normally eat (for us) exotic cuisine. But, we were in the mood to try something new, so we stopped here. It's a colorful, cheerful little place. I think there are only like 4 tables. Apparently, it is mostly takeout. This became evident when our food was "served". We ordered a large two-meat plate and two large fried chicken plates. The two meats were "brown stew chicken" and curry goat. The meat is served in thick savory gravy/sauce. The "plates" are served with rice and fried plantains. The brown stew chicken was good. The curry goat was really good. Here's where the experience really veered sharply from our normal dining experience. The "plates" were served in takeout fold-over boxes with plastic forks. The meat itself was pretty much all adhered to bones. It was tender and delicious, but eating with our hands doesn't come naturally. So, I asked for a knife, and the sweet woman who takes the orders looked at me and said they don't have knives, and that we "just have to dig down into it". Indeed. She did give me a second plastic fork though, which I used. Nice workers. Authentic food. Huge portions. New experience which we all enjoyed.

When I got on Yelp, I saw mixed reviews, especially comments about a woman being rude or having a bad attitude. Thankfully, we did not have that experience directly. I did briefly see her come out from the kitchen, we caught eyes, and she walked back inside. The ambiance was ok, good music , no customers at the time, but a few tables were dirty. The young man cleaned it right away . To be fair, I don't think the issue is primarily the young man taking the orders. He was kind, apologetic, and seemed to care, but the overall operation felt unorganized. Our order was incorrect three separate times. First, the drink order was wrong, but he fixed it and apologized. Second, we paid extra for mayo ketchup and garlic sauce in small 1 oz containers, but they were not placed on our tray, so we had to get up and ask for them. Again, he apologized. Then, when we received our tray, he let us know they had run out of lettuce and gave us potato beet salad instead, without offering us an option first. We ordered the goat stew plate and the grilled chicken plate, both served in to-go containers. For the plates, you get your protein, then a choice of green salad or potato beet salad, along with either white rice or moro rice, which is rice cooked with beans. We chose the moro rice. I've had Caribbean/Dominican food many times before, and it is usually packed with flavor, so I was honestly surprised that this was bland. This definitely feels like a coaching opportunity for the cook to taste the food throughout the cooking process, because a little seasoning and balance can make a huge difference. The grilled chicken portion was generous, and the plantains were delicious. The guanábana/soursop drink was also delicious, and the tamarindo had good flavor, though it had a lot of pulp/flesh in the cup. That said, the chicken and onion sauce were very bland and needed salt. For the prices being charged, the guest experience should feel more polished. Our total came out to $78 for two plates, two drinks, a small side of beans, and plantains. Pretty costly for what we received. Another thing that stood out was the napkins. When we asked for more, we were only given two additional napkins, which felt very stingy, especially when eating saucy dishes like goat stew. It just didn't feel like the best way to treat guests. As a chef and food safety professional, I also noticed behaviors that need coaching, including apron use when going into the restroom, lack of visible handwashing afterward, and bare-hand contact after scratching the head before touching food containers. These are important food safety habits that should be reinforced immediately. Overall, Karibbean Cuisine has good flavor potential and generous portions, but they need stronger operational structure, better order accuracy, improved guest communication, and tighter food safety practices. At this time, I personally would not come back, but I do wish them all the best in their business. I hope they take this feedback as constructive criticism and apply it in a way that helps the restaurant grow, improve the guest experience, and build long-term guests. If I see changes in the future, I would gladly give them another try. Until then, I truly wish them success.

For context, I've always loved Jamaican food and even have family who make incredible, authentic dishes, but I haven't had anything close to that in a year. So my expectations? High. My craving? Even higher. I ordered the jerk chicken dinner with peas & rice and cabbage medley, and some plantains - to go. First off, the service was amazing. The woman who helped me was genuinely warm and welcoming, and you can tell she cares about what she's serving. When I ordered, she asked if I wanted the jerk sauce on the side and made sure I was okay with the spice level when I said no. That attention to detail matters. The food came out quickly (it was mid-afternoon and not busy), and everything stayed warm all the way home--which is always a win for takeout. Now let's talk about the food: The portion was generous, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky, spicy kick - exactly what I was hoping for. The rice and peas and cabbage medley were a great balance to the heat, and the plantains were sweet and perfectly cooked. I did notice another review complaining about the spice level being too high... and honestly, I had to laugh a little. Have you had jerk chicken before? It's supposed to be spicy - that's the whole point. Personally, that comment is part of what made me choose this place, and it delivered. If you don't like spice, jerk might not be your thing - but I'm sure there are milder options if you ask. Bonus: they offer online ordering and delivery through Uber Eats and Postmates, which makes it even easier to get your fix. Overall, this place brought back the flavors I've been missing for so long. I'll absolutely be back - and probably sooner rather than later.
