Let's start from the beginning... This was my first time coming and I'll for sure be back. They have a cute patio with games and a TV that played music videos. Jazmine greeted me with a big smile and was very pleasant. I asked how we get our food if we are outside and she explained the process with a smile. I don't like to give low ratings but the system here for ordering should be addressed for a better experience for the customer. When you walk up there are two lines outside. One is for walk in and the other is for people who have already ordered. The security guard tells you when it's your time to go inside to stand in another line to order or pick up. Mind you the lines inside are semi crossed and confusing, so if the guard does not walk you in and point you to the correct spot you might be in the wrong line or unknowingly cut someone. There's a large menu board but it does not have the full menu stating the cost for additional sides, drinks or combos. And if they run out of items you don't know until you're at the window. When you get to the window they have a paper menu, I'm not sure why it is not available before reaching the window which would be convenient and save time. After I stood in line I ordered and received my number. They do not call names or numbers, I was told to get in the other line after 30 minutes, bruh! I had been seeing this Tev's kitchen on IG for quite a while, so when my friends and I were in LA, we decided it was finally time to check it out. The day we went, they were featuring a pasta menu, so that's what was available. I ordered the jerk chicken and jerk shrimp pasta, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point, and everything was cooked just right. The service was great from start to finish. The only minor downside was that it was a little warm inside, but it wasn't enough to take away from the experience. My only wish is that there had been more menu options available that day because I was hoping to try some of their other dishes. That just gives me another reason to come back. Next time, I'll either catch a different menu at this location or check out their Gardena location. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. I saw the glistening sauce on a wing someone was eating, and I was curious. Don't skip on the cabbage. It's so tasty and perfecrly spicy which made it hard to stop eating. I purchased this order to go, arriving home over an hour later. I did not warm the food, and dove into the oxtail. They were small but plentiful, perfectly seasoned and the meat fell off the bone becoming addicting. I ate a couple of the tender wings and used the sauce as lipstick. Finger licking good. You'll love the wings . The Mac 'n Cheese will be your demise. It was tepid by the time I got home, but with every bite it was richer and more indulgent. I love supporting local businesses and black/brown owned businesses, but the customer service is poor and crazy check in process for pick up/takeout. Yes... you read that right, check in process. We live up the street and it was our first time trying this spot to finally see what the buzz was about. I paid for the food using Apple Pay and had my husband pick it up. I did read that when picking up, you need to have a matching ID and the CC used to pay. So I sent my husband with both. The security who checks you in gave him such a hard time about it and denied his entrance because it needs to be the same name as the person on the receipt! So I had to go. I arrived, parking is difficult to find although it's in a residential area. So after I showed him my ID, CC, and Email confirmation, he then has to write down all this info from your email?? He said the last 4 digits didn't match my CC, so I let him know I paid with Apple Pay. He then asked me to open my Apple Pay App to then look at the history?! The food is good and flavorful , but in LA, you can find that elsewhere without all the hassle. We will not be going back, that's for sure. We had four platters and it was so much food-oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken and fried (boneless) chicken. Love the bold flavors of the food here. Their sides of macaroni and cheese and cabbage are really good, I eat the rice as well but with the other food choices it's not what I waste my stomach space on. The kool aid is suppper sweet, like the kind you used to make when left home alone as a child. The ordering process is a little different. I order online then when you go to pick up security verifies your credit card and ID. They direct you to the order window to get your food. You can order inside but the line is often long and then you will wait for the food next. On weekends they have a vendor selling delicious desserts. Also, this butter cake comes with a glaze that you pour on top. It is absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. If you decide to eat there, Tev's has a patio in the back. My mom saw posting on Facebook so she convinced me to him take her for lunch. The young man at the counter was very polite and friendly. The menu is very limited. We ordered , one jerk salmon, one jerk shrimp, and fried cat fish. Each full meal comes with a KoolAid , and three sides. Can't say enough good things about Tev's. Food was so good and flavorful that I forgot to take pictures but will be back to get some. I went on Thursday and got two Jerk chicken pastas, one Jerk chicken and shrimp pasta, and a Cajun chicken pasta and the flavors were great. The chicken was juicy and shrimp was cooked to perfection (not tough or rubbery). The Cool-Aid reminded me of my childhood, ice cold and it happen to be a hot day so that added to the nostalgia of drinking Cool-Aid for me.
