In 2011 I observed: This Joann's served me well for much of my craft and knitting needs while I was in town. In 2016: I found this to be a huge Joanns compared to the ones we have in my town, with a large selection of most items I looked at. I was, however, disappointed that I didn't find any fleece remnants that I liked well enough to buy. I also discovered an error on my receipt when I got home. I picked up a purple measuring tape specifically because I wanted something inexpensive and it was on a rack that was marked $1.99 each. When I checked my receipt later I was charged $2.49. I know that's only $0.50 but an error is an error and it canceled out part of the coupon that I used. On the good side, they had one skein in stock of a yarn that I haven't seen in stores for a couple of years so I was tickled pink to use my coupon to buy it. It had been a favorite of mine when I was living in Arizona and I was very disappointed to find that the Arizona and San Diego stores no longer carried it. I only had occasion to talk to one clerk and she did send me the right direction but I have to say in other stores they will usually walk you to the item you're looking for and not just wave their hand in the direction you need to go. I'm sure I will be back to this location while I'm in town because it is about the same distance from me as the one on Middlebelt Road, but with the advantage of being close to both Michael's and Hobby Lobby so that I can hit all three stores in one trip. read more

As a Christmas gift to myself, I finally decided to have our 9yo 11x17-ish wedding portrait framed. Jo-Ann's had their 50% + $20 off coupon in that weekend's paper, so I didn't look any further. I was very pleased with my treatment at this store. I had two people assisting me for a good 20 minutes (I wish I could remember the woman's name who helped me - shorter, middle aged - she was excellent) We tried out a vast number of mat and frame combinations. I ended up with a double mat, a gorgeous antique-y looking black frame and museum glass for around $110 (I'd expected triple... and I could kick myself for waiting this long now that I know the cost won't break the bank). Two weeks later, my portrait was ready. Just gorgeous. It looks like it cost a million dollars... OK maybe a thousand. But it looks expensive! I would definitely use them again for future framing needs (especially with a coupon). read more

Trying to find someone there to help you is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I was there the other day hoping to find someone to help me find a couple of things that the website says are in stock and I walked around the store for 15 minutes straight and I couldn't find a single person on the floor to help me. Granted, it's a smaller store than others and not at as good as a location as others, but they really should put at least one person on the floor during the during the after work hours (between 4 and 7) when people may stop there on the way home to buy stuff. I Purchased several things from the store and have always found the people who work here very helpful. They do have a big selection, especially on yarn, which is great for me as a fiber artist. This is usually my first stop when i have been watching too much project runway and have a project in mind. The service people are helpful and knowledgeable to boot. They have a huge selection of fabrics, threads and finishing. The yarn selection is pretty decent plus its nice to be able to feel it and not just take your chances online. They are currently offering curbside pickup when you order online. This has been helpful with keeping me busy during the quarantine. What's the point of curbside pickup when it takes 5 or more days? They don't answer the phone, aren't very friendly and apparently not very quick. I know there's a pandemic but 5 to 6 days for curbside? I've ordered twice from them First time I ordered a Cricut maker and waited 6 days then had to call and the completed my order right then and there. Recently I ordered some sale items and as of today the 5 day my order still says processing. They should not offer curbside if it takes this long to complete and order that consists of three things. They could at least answer the damn phone. I won't be ordering from this store again. I believe the reason the are in stock of most items is because people know not to order from here. read more

I will say that whenever I go to JoAnne's they have what I'm looking for. They have a full line of everything you could possibly need for any holiday and/or craft that you wish to decorate or do anything for. I do like the wide array of crafting supplies, fabrics and decorating ideas that they have in this large, very large store. I also like the fact that I get coupons pretty much weekly on my iphone. That is a great thing to do while I'm waiting in the longer lines. I go through my phone and try to find the coupons. I will add that any time we've visited this store, the one here in Canton, MI, there has been at lease 15-20 people in line and only One cashier!! The one time there were two cashiers, the one was so so so slow and kept talking and looking at her phone and stuff like this, so it just felt like there was only one cashier anyways. I like the lay out of the store, as it's not too hard to find what you are looking for. I mean it is a cross between a fabric store, craft store and a Home decor store. They just have so much eye candy for the home/craft enthusiast! I just did not like how much time I've had to waste standing in line. I am disabled and though I don't use it as an excuse for anything, it's not easy to wait and wait and wait for one cashier, when you see other employees walking around not doing much of anything and you are saying to yourself "gosh I wish she /he would come over here and help with the cashier line since they just don't look busy at all". But I want to say that all in all I do love coming here when I have alot of time to spare. I love looking through the numerous craft items the sell and home ideas they have out everywhere you look. I am an avid scrapbooker. The only reason I go here is because it is close. The selection is not very good and does not change much. My biggest issue with this store is customer service. They are pretty bad. I shop here enough to say it is not an isolated incident. One example is their coupons. I forgot my coupon one day and said to the cashier that I would bring it back later for credit. She said, "oh no. You can't do that. You have to have it on original purchase." I pointed out that I could just return it and buy again. She told me I would have to leave the store awhile and come back later. How ridiculous! They do not go out of their way to make you feel your business is wanted. I use Michaels as much as possible. read more

I guess I should start by saying that I am not crafty. I want to be crafty. Going into this store makes me want to abandon my good intentions. I have visited this location several times over the past few years for various reasons & I always dread it. I only come here if I can't find what I'm looking for at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. It always looks like a tornado hit this store. The lighting and layout is confusing. It is kind of funny to see all of the miserable faces on other customer's faces with their carts full of fabric as they wait in line to get their fabric cut. I'm not really sure what they offer that is better than the competition. If I do find what I'm looking for, the check-out line is usually 20 people deep, and 1 or 2 cashiers. Ugh. read more

They say that when you've been to one chain store, you've been to them all. Maybe. This Joann's really stood out as being very badly in need of someone going through the fabric section and putting the bolts back more neatly. Having worked in a quilt shop, I can put the fabric bolts back neater than they were when I pulled them. So I really appreciate all the effort it takes to keep things neat. On the plus side, I was able to score 4 yards of a particular print that had sold out at the three Joann's closest to my house. I had been able to go online and locate said four yards of highly sought-after print from the convenience of my laptop at home. The rest of the store seems neater and more organized than the fabric section. The place is huge! Lots of craft stuff. Since I was unfamiliar with the layout, my friend and I kind of wandered until we found everything we needed. When we could find them, the store staff were helpful in directing us to the correct aisles. All in all a decent incarnation of Joann's, but still a two-star meh, because that's how I tend to rate the chain craft stores in terms of the quality level of the merchandise. It's entry-level, which is OK if you are just beginning to dabble in a craft, or just need some playtime craft items for the kiddies. As you become more experienced and more exacting, you'll appreciate the really good stuff. Look at the online Joann's store. For some reason, the supplies they have there are a step up from what's in the brick 'n' mortar stores. read more

This store has the rudest employees ever, cashiers argue with customers over menial things. They never have close parking, never have open handicap spaces. If your in a wheelchair, expect to park down the street. They do have some nice employees, but have several rotten apples who will ruin your day in a heartbeat. They hire people who lack manners and proper employee etiquette. With so many JoAnns's, just pick another one to go to. read more

I wanted to give this store my business but I'm sick of the huge line with the ONE cashier. It's terrible. I don't understand the thinking behind not having enough cashiers to help your customers. She'd call, over and over, for an additional cashier, but none ever came. I had a very wiggly 2 year old that I had to keep entertained for the 20 minutes wait. With 2 other craft stores on the same road in this town, I'm not going back. I gave JoAnn another chance this week and it was the SAME thing.... same line, same sad cashier. I love craft stores, but Joann's (Canton) is always at the bottom of my list. Reasons why: -Like everyone had said here, there is always 30 people lined up with only one cashier working. So frustrating. I have actually left so many times because of this. -The store is always messy. Trash on the floor, old fabric laying on the floor. -The staff are usually slow older people. Poorly stocked, patterns continuously out of date. Management says stock is all in back but they have no staff to bring it out and stock the shelves. Prices are marked up high to account for continuous coupon deductions. Never purchase anything without a coupon or you will significantly overpay. Other locations better than Canton store. read more

OK place. Staff helpful and work hard, but store needs to hire more personal because lines are long. Hard to find someone to help you because not enough staff. And parking lot is crowded. Be prepared to spend at least 1/2 hour in line to cut and purchase fabric. Not an easy place to run in and out when you have little kids. read more

While Joann Fabrics is a reputable store with a diversity of products, one has to decide if their purchase is worth the time involved for the transaction. The parking..or shall I say lack of, is the first issue that one is faced with. Cars are being towed from a nearby parking area due to lack of space near the store. Then there is the issue of waiting for an item to be cut. One person at cutting station....many customers in line. Then there is the endless line of disgruntled customers with 1 or 2 if you are lucky checkout lanes open. The wait is inexcusable, customer service is non existent as there are very few employees to ask a question of. I will not shop there again, there are other Joann Fabric stores that do not have this issue, or I will shop at competitors .It might be a good idea if Corporate would visit and assist in making adjustments. If I could rate negative stars I would! I have been shopping at joanne's for years this was my first time at this store and they have Horrible customer service one of the worst I've ever saw, from employees to management. Had an employee scream at my 9year old daughter twice both times for harmless things when reported to management no apology but was told the employee had bad kids, which DOES NOT in anyway give her rights to scream at other people's children! Good thing about big cities I have more choices like Michaels and hobby lobby. Because of the staff in this store Joanne's just lost a 30 year customer. Never has my daughter been miss treated in a bad way like this by anyone. To the women that had to yell I am tyring to raise a respectful citizen so I used you as an example of how not to act or treat others I Explained your immaturity and your huge lack of respect to my daughter so she understands how cruel people can be and why she don't want to act the way you did.
