The most wonderfullll experience! Literally can't say enough good words. Backstory, our costumes didn't arrive from amazon in time for a Friday night party -- figures. We decided to be bold and try to craft a Hawaiian skirt from felt to go as LILO and Myrtle from LILO and STITCH. Couldn't place the online pickup order until 5pm. Called and was told it wouldn't be ready today. Rats. But in comes our hero: Hema (sp.) She was so lovely, put us on hold and in ten minutes got our order processed and then personally shopped around the store for our items despite the order being only a half hour old. Finally! A store with enough skeins in one color to allow me to make my chunky, oversize blankets. I would advise to give yourself enough time to browse the aisles. I was about to give up and went to the next aisle and found exactly what I was looking for. I felt like the aisle opened up and I could hear the choir singing! Yes, the lines can get long but we all have to remember to have some more patience during this time. Save yourself a lot of trouble and just drive a few more miles across town to Michael's. These people are the worst! They can't find orders. They put you on hold forever -- repeatedly. They don't want to do their job and look for orders until you say you'll cancel it instead. If I'd known this I would have gone back to my old reliable Michael's. They had sewing machines online and said Fredericksburg had them in stock so I went there and they tell me the sewing department is closed and that they don't sell sewing machines even though they had three of them that looked like they were used for sale on the counter. I have an order pick up 2 days later (today) and I sat in my car for 20 minutes and no one came out so I called the store again and the lady that answered said she's been standing up there for 20 minutes and no one told her someone was waiting for their order. If you want good customer Service and in stock items I would recommend you go to Michael's instead. read more

Customer service is terrible especially in the cutting area. Brianne was helping another customer with a large order and asked for help and no one came. I then called the store in an attempt to get help for Brianne and was put on hold for over 7 minutes. The store wasn't even crowded. read more

The people here are extremely helpful in finding what you need and always willing to do so. The only issue is the lack of staffing, which isn't this store's fault. Corporate is expecting staff to manage a high volume store with only a few people and this leads to sometimes low in stock items, longer lines, and more waiting. I also know for a fact the workers aren't being paid what they should be for how much this store is making. Why are there typically only 3 people at any given point running the store making the BARE minimum when this particular store rakes in tens of thousands per day? You can afford to give more hours, quit being greedy. So anyone that has a problem with any kind of lack of help, keep in mind they only allow enough hours for 3 people (cutting, cashier, and management) per shift. (And they don't make a penny over minimum wage) These ladies deserve better! read more

Don't waste your time putting in a curbside order. First they will tell you they have over a hundred orders not sure when you will get your stuff. Then they will leave you sitting in your car for an hour to see if they have your order. This is the worst Joann Fabrics I have ever been to. Got in line just before 4 o'clock (an hour before closing) and was told that I along with the four people behind me would have to leave and come back tomorrow. Spoke to an employee and the manager on the phone and was told the same thing. I drove 45 minutes to get here and was very disappointed with the service. Try a different location. read more

Everytime I come to this location the employees are rude, seem like they can't be bothered and don't want to help. I custom ordered over $400 worth of fabric for my wedding (which took like 4 employees to accomplish because none of them knew how to use the computer program to order it). Then today I came in to pick it up and asked if they could cut it into 6 yard increments for me and was told "we don't do custom cuts." I politely asked "right- I get that. But if I had just taken fabric off the shelf and asked for 2- 6 yard cuts, you'd do that right?" The employee said "yes buts that different." I said "ok well never mind. Have a good day" I do not have a cutting board at my home as this is for my wedding- I do not sew so I don't have any way of measuring a yard. Of course, I can figure it out pretty easily I imagine but it's the principle that I wasn't asking them to cut certain sized shapes or anything. Just to cut the fabric into 6 yard increments for the dropping at my wedding. I won't use this store again and will be sure to not recommend them to others. read more

I went to Joann Fabric's located in Fredericksburg VA today. I waited in line for 40 minutes because of Social Distancing...only 10 people in the store at a time. I get and I am thankful they are taking this seriously. But my complaint is the store worker who is working with cutting fabric. I was at the counter looking at fabric that was behind him. I had on my face mask and gloves. He was extremely RUDE and said, "I need for you to step back"! I was not in his space or no where near him. As a matter of fact he didn't have on a mask nor was he wearing gloves. He should have said, "Ma'am for your safety please stand behind this line. There weren't any signs that indicated where customers should stand. I could have been the nasty customer and said some choice words to him but I decided to take the high road and not say anything and just wait on my fabric so that I could make masks to give out to people to help keep them safe. I will not be traveling back to this store because this isn't the first time staff was RUDE AND NASTY! If he doesn't want to work cutting fabric, he should stay home. Just because he is not having a nice day, he shouldn't try to make someone's day gray. It's really a shame that customers have to put up with workers of his caliber. read more
