This is such a cute shop and I loved the beginner sewing series so much that I signed up for another class. The class lasts about 2 hours. Everyone wears a name tag (as someone who is not good with names, I LOVE this!). At the beginning of class everyone does an introduction. Everyone was so friendly and it was a very nice community. The area is cute and there are restaurants nearby to grab a bite to reward yourself. The instructor was very kind and patient with the students! Add to it calendar immediately after you receive confirmation for the class because the time doesn't show up in your email confirmation. There's plenty of parking nearby. I took a beginners class here - it had plenty of street parking around the shop, convenient hours (class was from 6pm-8pm), a small class size (8 for sewing machine basics), and an informed staff. The instructor (Valerie, I believe) was very detailed in her instructions that included threading a machine, debugging, ironing, sewing different stitches and lengths, assembling and dissembling the machine, and making a mini pillow. After she demoed different steps, she would have us try and wandered the room quickly correcting us if something wasn't quite right. We also had to repeat each action twice to develop the muscle memory. There are classes available for all things a beginning sewer needs to know up to how to make your own bodice at advance levels. The store has patterns, fabric, and take-home kits. If you cannot make a scheduled workshop, you can do the lesson over private instruction. I had followed YouTube instructions before and done lots of searches trying to figure out how to sew with limited success. This class multiplied my knowledge by 1000 and helped me identify what I was doing wrong on my own so I could course correct. If you're interested in learning to sew, this is your place! read more

She explained things in a very clear manner and when I made a mistake, she helped me find a way to correct/fix it. I just recently got into quilting and came into this shop to see their fabric choices since I was in the area for an appointment. Not a ton of quilting fabric, BUT so many patterns for clothing, labels, and different sewing project kits! I ended up getting a variety of labels as well as two bag sewing kits, all of which I absolutely love. Once I make the many, many quilts I have planned, I will come back for clothing patterns because they looked gorgeous. This place is half retail, half workshop, and lovely all around. Their printed pattern selection is size inclusive and highlights independent designers. Their fabric selection is mostly apparel fabrics, and they all all lovely. You could build a whole wardrobe here. I got to talk with the person who cut my fabric and she was friendly and knew her patterns. Her own outfit was sewn by her and looked so polished! I overheard someone ask about getting pdf patterns printed and they have a flatbed printer so you can get full sheet prints made! What a lovely additional service to offer. 10/10 if I lived anywhere nearby I'd make it a habit to visit. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! I had about a week left to figure out my Halloween costume and had really wanted to make it. I had all the materials ready but did not have the necessary experience (or machinery) to sew the costume. Enter Stitch Sew Shop. I popped in on a Thursday and I was able to rent a sewing machine for $7/hour (amazing!!) and get tips and tricks from the employees. There was also a class at the same time I was there, and they were in the midst of making awesome pajamas. Needless to say, I had not cut my fabric correctly before I had come into the shop and measurements for my skirt were off, so I decided to book a 1:1 sewing lesson appointment with one of the employees for the day before Halloween (!!). The cost for the hour lesson was $35, which is pretty reasonable! Fast forward to my lesson: I was given great training on what to do to make my costume a reality, and I feel a lot more comfortable sewing now. I was able to do all the cutting and sewing with minimal supervision so I really felt like the costume was something I created. I would still love to take more lessons because there's a lot more to learn, but I'm so grateful for the nice ladies at this shop for making sewing not so scary (even for Halloween ;))! Great staff!! Super friendly and helpful! I'm in my thirties and probably the opposite of whatever the typical demographic this store is geared toward. I had some hockey gear that I wanted to modify and thought using a machine would be easier and faster than trying to Frankenstein stitches by hand. The staff was unbelievably helpful in showing me how to use and operate a sewing machine. What would likely take a seamstress 5 minutes to do took me about 40, but I could not be happier with the outcome plus the pride of doing it myself. If I ever need to do something like this again I will definitely be going back. As of this review they moved locations to a few hundred feet down King St. Yelp wasn't updated but a sign in the window had their new address and google maps showed it right around the corner so it was easy to find. read more

I was thrilled when this shop opened, because this area was severely lacking in fabric shops. Plus this shop is beautiful! The focus on fabric here is for apparel, and the quality is much nicer than what is offered at chain fabric stores. In addition to fabric, the shop has sewing patterns, thread, zippers, buttons, notions, embroidery kits...basically it's difficult for me to walk out empty-handed. They also have a variety of classes, whether it's a beginner-level class on using a sewing machine, or a class for a specific garment...I've taken several classes and have been happy every time. read more

The customer service isn't necessarily the best. I got the feeling that if you take a class, they're a lot more welcoming/friendly. I came during the day and wasn't sure who were staff and who were customers. The employee was getting fitted for a dress. She actually helped me while getting pinned. They didn't have the pattern I came for and was told I could "wait indefinitely" for it. So I ordered it online direct from the company. I like the selection and interior of the place but am pretty sure I won't be back. read more

I started taking classes at Stitch Sew Shop a couple of months ago, and each and every one has been fantastic. I've learned so much so quickly! All the shop gals are incredibly kind and helpful. Their classes really teach you what you need to know in order to make projects on your own. I also love that they focus on natural cotton fabrics. It's so much easier to go into the Shop and pick a fabric because they're so curated, I know whatever I pick will work well. I really can't say enough good things about Stitch Sew Shop! read more

It's awesome. It's beyond awesome actually. The greatest selection of fabrics I've seen in several states and includes both Liberty of London and Rifle Paper for Cotton & Steel. Their bottom weights and linens are fantastic for the Lander pants I was buying for. They have all of the Indie designer patterns I already own and plenty more. Beautiful bias trims, notions, embroidery, and classes. Pleasant staff too. Could you really want anything more? (Well more Liberty, but I digress). They're amazing.
