I love the store, however they don't have a large selection. I went in looking for a stencil and they didn't have any. I asked 2 associates and both told me they don't carry stencils. However I did buy some material an associate was friendly, Professional and curious as to what I was going to do with it. Great sales this week. Checkout was easy and friendly. It is what it is. I usually gravitate more towards the craft section when I'm here (usually for some dire need for some obscure set of knitting needles). My only beef with this place is the lack of any care on behalf of the employees (maybe I always come at the wrong time but this kind of attitude seems to be prevalent any time I've been in the store). For being at a Craft store the associates aren't that out the box thinkers--I needed a blocking board for my knitting but they tossed me over to Michael's, fair enough--they are a true craft store. However, the lady at Michael's suggested plain foam board and pins, which I took (since I mentioned earlier how dire my crafting needs can be at times...) This solution could have easily been presented to me at JoAnn's (I did make sure to explain the purpose of the blocking board). It is a JoAnn's though--a fabric store. They usually have those "in a pinch" crafting items but I definitely prefer my local yarn store in terms of selection, customer service, and overall atmosphere. read more

I love how easy it is to get to this store. When I'm having fabric cut, I'm always asked what project is it for and what help/suggestions they may have. I like that. The checkout line/lane recently changed and I was waiting in what we believed to be a line (behind other people), while another line was forming out of our view. The two cashiers SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS SITUATION ARISING, and the next thing I knew, we were told our line didn't exist and we'd have to get out of our line and get in the back of another line of people. I put my purchases down and left the store. The correct way to solve the problem that was allowed to occur was to, #1 Apologize, #2 Sift the line together asking everybody's approval (Will everyone be alright if I do this in a fair manner?). While their selection is good, the store is smaller than many others. During my visits in late September & early October, when I asked about whether they would be carrying Breast Cancer fabrics, I was told they have no control over what comes in and if it's not on the shelf, then they don't have it. Fair enough, I guess. This evening, a woman was YELLED AT for coming into the store at closing -- "WE ARE CLOSED" -- by the clerk behind the register. EVERYBODY in the store turned to look at her & her young daughter and the little girl started crying. There were still many people in the store and a line at the register. I was mortified... I can only imagine how she must have felt. I'm sure the guy who the clerk was helping at the time didn't appreciate the volume, either. The woman yelled back "THANK YOU. WE ARE LEAVING NOW." I try to avoid going here because it's never a good experience. Today I wanted to buy pens that were locked. The cashier was backed up the fabric counter was terse, rude and dismissive bordering on nasty when I inquired about another employee. So I tore them off the "see team leader". When I checked out the cashier was rude. "I didn't unlock those. Yeah I did. This place needs a better owner manager. read more

Looking for a foot of blue velvet for my next little project, I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics in Westford. Yikes. $24.99 for a yard for the good stuff, but there was a less expensive brand for $12.99 a yard but they didn't have the blue I needed. I asked the salesperson if she could call the store up Rte 3 to see if they had what I needed, and she said she couldn't call (actually, she wasn't even helping anyone else and no one was near the cutting counter). Not sure why she couldn't. Not so friendly. Whatevah. This location has a good selection of fabrics, sewing boxes, threads, craft supplies, etc., but it was messy, as usual. Maybe there isn't enough help, but it's not like the store is so busy so personnel couldn't take the time to tidy up a bit. So, off to Tyngsboro to find what I needed. Yes. They had what I needed, and the salespeople were a lot more pleasant and accommodating. Will I return to the Westford place? Probably, cuz it's closer to the places I usually frequent for other errands and has some decent buys. read more

I've had mixed experiences here. It's a bit smaller than other Jo-Ann Fabric stores that I've been to, so the selection isn't great. Typically the staff is helpful, however I did encounter one disgruntled employee who snapped at me when I asked where the tissue paper is located (for the record: they don't carry it). read more

The usual Joann Fabrics: a good-sized selection of fabrics at reasonable prices. Crafting supplies for painting, knitting, some beading tools, and a small selection of home decorations. On the Sunday morning I visited this small shop I had already planned out what I needed to purchase, nothing complicated, just a few yards of fabric and a couple of buttons. However, my service was terrible! At the time of my arrival to the counter, two people were cutting away at fabric and there was no line. So I decided to get in line for one employee's station. Apparently this was sacrilege! The employee's commented rather rudely back and forth about me "creating my own line" and how this "messed up the entire system." ...it's fabric, people...just cut it! I had depended on this store to be my go-to craft store (as it was the closest to my former residence). I have since moved away and have decided to drive over 45minutes to go to another craft store with BETTER SERVICE! read more

Before starting to write this review of the Joann's store in Westford MA, I read the reviews that others posted. It seems this store is plagued with poor customer service. It is a shame that the management does not take action to correct this inherent issue. I was on line in the store this morning while it was almost empty. A elderly woman was in front of me and the clerk, as she was exiting the store, quickly said to the woman that she would be right with her. The customer proceeded to press the call button. For a minute I thought that was odd but then I concluded she might be hard of hearing. When the clerk, Michelle, came back to the register she said, "I told you I would be right back. I did not appreciate you pressing the button." The woman did not respond to this snarky rebuke. As the transaction proceeded, the woman asked the clerk to repeat something. The woman informed Michelle that she has a hearing problem and wears hearing aids but still sometimes has difficulty hearing. There was no response from Michelle. When it was my turn, I told Michelle that she was wrong to speak in such a manner to that elderly woman. Funny at this point Michelle had nothing to say. However her rudeness continued in the abrupt way she handled the transaction. After I exited the store I ran into the woman who was treated so poorly. She was very upset at the comments made by the store clerk. There is no reason to treat a customer this way. read more

I had to make a return of an on line fabric order at this location today. The three employees I interacted with made no secret of how inconvenient it was for them to process the return & how they really aren't connected to the on line stores. I had checked the website to make sure store returns were allowed so I was pretty surprised by the complaints & comments I received. Maybe it's the time of year that stresses them, but a little good customer service goes a long way. I'll drive to the Billerica location from now on. read more

This fabric and craft store is a great local resource with highly reasonable prices on everything from holiday wrapping paper to silk flowers for home decorating. They have frequent markdowns. The last time I was there I came home with three huge bags including two beautiful baskets lined in red cloth, rustic wrapping paper with matching tags, a pretty sewing basket in a clever sewing theme fabric, Christmas themed Peeps, and other fun stocking stuffers, all for $50.00. For a small store, I'm always amazed at the selection of items available, the prices and despite what a few reviewers have said, the laid-back and helpful staff. read more

I've been going to this store for years now and have always had a great experience. They typically have all the supplies I need in stock and I agree with the last reviewer that the staff here are usually very helpful and knowledgeable... .....Although watch out for the tall bearded male employee (I think his name tag said "Dave") He is beyond rude and should either be fired or find a new job. He was about to cut my fabric on a crooked-angle and so I kindly asked him to re-align the fabric. Would you believe he tossed the scissors across the cutting table and said "then you do it"?!?! Are you kidding me? Sir, if you are having a bad day, don't take it out on me. And if you don't like crafters, spare us and get a new job!!!! Don't ruin the store reputation for the other employees that love to work there either. read more

This is my favorite Jo-Ann's of the three that I frequent (Burlington, Tyngsboro and Westford). It's well-kept and always quite organized and there is a better fabric selection here than at the other two locations I mentioned. The staff here are mostly crafters themselves so they're very helpful and knowledgeable enough to help you with ideas if you're stuck. read more

I will not be going to the Westford location of this store again if I can help it. I went up to pay for my items and asked if they would honor their online price as it was cheaper and if I had bought it online and picked it up in the store I would still be taking the same items from their inventory at a cheaper price. In the end, they would not honor the cheaper price but this isn't why I won't be going back. It is due to how I was treated as a customer. When I first asked if they could check if the price was different from the online price, the employee responded you have to be kidding me as if she couldn't believe I had asked a price question and didn't want to look it up for me. Then she made fun of me for asking if they would honor the online price because the savings was not very much. She then went on to explain that she's old and she knows she has a mouth on her but she's not sorry. Well I don't care how old you are, if you're planning to be rude to customers and don't care about it then you shouldn't work in customer service. read more
