Ms. Joan the owner is the absolute best! Everyone is welcomed and is treated like family. The restaurant is clean and always filled with VI locals. I personally appreciate this spot, because there aren't many places that serve VI Caribbean food. The food is always hot, fresh and bursting with flavor. It's just like being in St. Thomas and I appreciate feeling like I'm home. The portions are filling and the prices are more than fair. I highly recommend this lovely place.

Since I'm back in South Florida, I've been looking to hit up some new Caribbean places instead of my usual ones. I saw Joane's on Yelp and saw that they has Mac and cheese which most places don't have so I was sold. Now I gotta say, I'm used to Jamaican ccooking because its what I grew up with so that might color my experience. I ordered the lunch specials the oxtail and fried chicken with macaroni and cheese and rice and peas. The lady was super nice, but when she got me the oxtail I could already see a problem. The gravy was paper thin and oxtail gravy as I know it is supposed to be thick. I decided to still get it though because I wanted to give it a chance. I was right to be concerned. The oxtail wasn't seasoned well. There was no taste. It was soft and cooked through but bland. It was heartbreaking. Also, the "fried chicken" was not fried. It was baked. And worst of all was that the macaroni and cheese was not good. The only cheese in it was the crust. There was no cheesiness in the noodles themselves. I was super disappointed but I'm still glad I went becausr I like to try new places.

Oxtail, peas and rice, corn, and saltfish pate. Absolutely delicious!

Honestly, I had to make a Yelp account just so I can write a review for this place! My dad is from St. Thomas and I grew up eating all kinds of St. Thomian food and absolutely love it. So when I found out that there is a Virgin Islands restaurant only 20 minutes from my house, you can just imagine my excitement! I went a week ago and everything I tried was soooo good! THE PATE IS AMAZING! (Better than my Grandma's! Shhhh don't tell her I said that). I tried the meat and saltfish pate. The saltfish pate was by far my favorite. SO. GOOD. I also had the ox tail and peas and rice! ALSO DELICIOUS! And when we went, it was a Tuesday. The soup on Tuesday's is beef soup so my mom ordered that. Also so good. I really loved everything. Eating all the foods reminded me of being back at my Grandma's house in Northside w/ the gorgeous view of Magen's Bay, ocean breezes hitting my face, having bunch with the family. I've been recommending this place to basically everyone I know. I can't wait to go back :)

Nice little small place that's a must visit. I was turned on to this place by a coworker who swore that Joan made the best patties you will ever eat. Being he is from the Virgin Islands I felt he was being bias. I have to admit the patty did look darn good. Well today I decided to stop by on my way home. OMG!!! I have had patties in all forms from just about all ethnic groups in the South FL area. These are by far the best patties I have every had hands down. I had a beef and saltfish patty. Both were very good the beef patty was insane. I'm not exaggerating you must check this place out for yourself. The other foods look great also but my mission was to try the patties. The owner Joan is the sweeties and friendliest lady you will every meet.

Oxtail, Mac n cheese, rice and beans & veggie delight! Very good and filling

Finding somewhere that doesn't sell Jamaican food but VI food is almost impossible. We drove from Homestead and it was definitely worth it!

Some restaurants serve food. Others serve memories…read more For me, Joy's Roti Delight isn't just the best Trinidadian restaurant in Broward County--it's a place that's been part of my life for years. I've been eating there since they were in their original location connected to Lauderhill Mall, and no matter how many restaurants I've visited as a chef, Joy's has always felt like home. Walk through the front door and you'll see the large photo of Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. That picture is more than decoration--it's a reminder of the man whose kindness and passion built a place that has fed generations of South Floridians. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to meet him. He was genuinely one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. And the food? Simply outstanding. Their doubles are, in my opinion, the best in Broward--soft, fresh, perfectly balanced, and packed with authentic Trinidadian flavor. It's no surprise they're one of the dishes people rave about over and over in public reviews. The curry goat is tender and deeply seasoned. The curry chicken is rich and comforting. The curry duck is phenomenal. The stew chicken tastes like it came straight from a family kitchen. Pair any of them with their flavorful rice and peas, curry potatoes, or curry chickpeas, and you understand why Joy's has built such a loyal following over the years. But believe it or not... my favorite side is the pumpkin. Funny enough, I used to never eat pumpkin. Mr. Joy himself convinced me to give it a chance, telling me how good it was for me. If you know what I mean I finally listened--and I've been hooked ever since. It's funny how the smallest conversations can stay with you forever. Don't leave without trying their homemade pepper sauce either. It brings just the right amount of heat while letting the flavors of the food shine. As an Executive Chef who's fortunate enough to eat at restaurants across South Florida, I know great food when I taste it. But what separates Joy's isn't just the cooking--it's the heart behind it. The recipes, the consistency, the culture, and the people have made this place a landmark for Trinidadian cuisine. Rest in peace, Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. Thank you for the meals, the conversations, and the legacy you've left behind. Your name still brings people together around a table, and that's one of the greatest accomplishments anyone in the restaurant business could ever hope for. Some legacies are written in history books. Yours is written in every plate that comes out of that kitchen.

We arrived around 11 PM on a Friday and the place had great energy. It was lively without feeling overwhelming, and a few tables looked like they were celebrating special occasions, which added to the vibe. The music was excellent and honestly brought back a bit of that nostalgic, high school party feel in the best way. We ordered a couple of drinks and they were definitely strong and well made. The service stood out just as much as the atmosphere. The owner was incredibly pleasant and attentive, checking in with us several times to make sure we were taken care of. You could tell she genuinely cared about the guests. I also learned the owners are Trini and Guyanese, which I loved because it added a nice personal touch to the experience. As a first time visitor, I really appreciated that she thanked us for coming when we left. It made the experience feel welcoming and personal. I'll definitely be back to try the food. As a vegetarian, I'm hoping to make a special request since there aren't many Chinese vegetarian options on the menu, but I'm confident they'll accommodate it. We left after 1 AM and people were still coming in, so it's clearly a popular late night spot. Great location right off University with plenty of parking, which makes it super convenient. Overall, a great night, great energy, and a place I'll be returning to.

It's a small, mom-and-pop-like shop which of course is the best kind of restaurant IMO. When I walked in, everything smelled amazing and all the food was covered up, which I can appreciate for cleanliness purposes. I was greeted by a smiling and upbeat Simone, who is super warm and welcoming. This was a very pleasant surprise given how my beautiful Jamaican people do not always get the best rep for customer service (IYKYK). I ordered the oxtail, rice and peas and some jerk chicken. Simon gave me a beautiful, and packed plate. The rice and peas was SOO good, I was happy just eating it by itself. The oxtail pieces were big and juicy and FALL-OFF-THE-BONE good. The cabbage had a distinct color and flavor that I LOVED. I give the overall plate a 9/10 only because I didn't get any carrots with the oxtail or sweet plantains in my order which I personally prefer and personally feel should come with oxtail meals. Also because while the jerk chicken LOOKED AMAZING and was nice enough, it didn't pack as much flavor as I would like and they didn't have a signature sauce with it (again, a personal preference, try it yourself, to see how YOU feel). Overall, this was an awesome experience. I would definitely eat here again and strongly encourage you to give it a try if you haven't yet, even just to experience the pleasure of meeting Simone.
