Let me start by saying this - I don't make a habit of leaving reviews unless there's something extraordinarily good or bad about an experience. I've already used them 3 times, all positive experiences, which is what brought me here to confidently say that I'll be referring them to anyone else in the area as well. I first brought them into my home for what I saw as a relatively straightforward patch and paint after some water damage from a leaky roof. They gave me an estimate, which was lower than the other 2. I approved it and they came in the next day, identified the actual issue, removed the drywall, stopped the issue, put in another custom cut piece of drywall, sealed it up again with tape and paste, then sanded it down to make it look literally seamless with the rest of the ceiling. Anyone else would have charged at least double (based on other experiences I've had) but the communication was there from the beginning and I could tell that they weren't giving me the runaround. The transparency was surprising and greatly appreciated. That gave me the confidence to have them come back another time to replace some windows that had been cracked from rocks being kicked up from the alleyway over time, both paned glass as well as some square/cubes replaced. Bob, the owner, said he wasn't a glazer, but had a good contact that was also reasonably priced and knocked out that job in 1 day. After that, I gave him a call about some of the mason work that I was having done because at this point, I realized that Bob was trustworthy and transparent, and I felt like getting a 2nd opinion on what work had been done so far and what still needed to be done. I've even met someone else in the neighborhood who's house I visited and I was complimenting her new deck. Turns out that she had her deck rebuilt by JOB1 ! That's what brings me to this review, which I hope is enough detail to describe why JOB1 is so different than many other contractors these days. Bob and his crew are transparent, trustworthy, thorough, professional, and fair. That's a tough combination these days from what I've found, and for that, I HIGHLY recommend JOB1 for your home improvement needs, big or small ! read more

I contacted Bob at Job 1 for a couple of small home repairs. His response was quick and within 2 days he and a helper were here to repair the damage to my hanged ceiling (thanks to a foster cat) and install a new toilet. Bob helped me fix a tricky 1937 original sink where the hot water valve was stripped. 2 plumbers had told me I needed to replace the sink which was going to be labor intensive and complicated due to the extremely small bathroom and tile behind the sink. Let me list some of the reasons for a 5 star review. 1. Communication with Bob was excellent. Never had to worry about an unreturned call or text. 2. They called ahead and always showed up when he said they would. That's a biggie. 3. Bob understood what we were going for and followed through 100%. He listened to us and made recommendations based on his years of experience, but he was sure to follow our vision (to be honest, my wife's vision). 4. Their workmanship is outstanding. Our big concern was we wanted to re-fashion the fireplace. Could not find a mantel to fit our needs. So Bob built it, right on the site. Great job. 5. His estimate and pricing structure were very reasonable, especially given that Bob does not cut corners. With his proposal he was clear on what is included and what expenses will be up to the customer. 6. I was in need a a handyman. Home Advisor steered me to Job One after I listed the work I wanted done. I received a phone call from Bob and set up an appointment. Bob showed up on time today and was courteous. He carefully listened to what I wanted done. He and his helper completed the work in the time he said that he would. They exceeded my expectations as they were honest, careful when working, and took pride in doing an excellent job. I recently had a bad experience with a handyman. Their price is fair and the quality of the work is excellent. I already have another project for them to do for me and they will be back later this month. This review is strictly based on my experiemce with getting an estimate and not on any work that was performed. I was pretty optimistic about Job One Home Improvement after reading the other reviews and after initially speaking with Bob. However, I was quickly disappointed by how Bob wasted my time by having me send pictures of the repair work only for him to never respond to his own request??? Although the needed repairs were small (install light fixtures, faucets etc. I was told that he could schedule my smaller repairs between some of his bigger jobs.) We set a timely install date & Bob & his son were on time, friendly, efficient & spent time adjusting everything to my satisfaction. Bob not only did a great job installing the awnings, he also picked one of them up for me when it was delivered to Menards.
