Service was great but the results were beyond disappointing. The color I wanted was a darker toned pink but at my consultation, they informed me it would be difficult to reach that shade with the ends of my hair already dyed, and to have a back up color prepared. I told them if we couldn't get my ideal color, I'd be happy to do dark red. We toned and cut whatever we could, but somehow I ended up with bright red. I went back in April for a trim and was disappointed but just let it go. I went back again yesterday thinking if I got another stylist I might have a better outcome especially since I just went in for a fringe bang. When I went back in April I asked the stylist to trim all my dry ends. When she asked how much I wanted to trim, I simply requested for her to cut as much as she needed to so that my hair would be healthy with no dry ends. When I looked at the floor she had hardly trimmed any of my long hair and blow dried it. When I left the salon, my hair immediately became tangled and was still dry. I paid $62 for her to cut less than an inch and leave my hair in the same condition it was when I walked in. I ended up going to sports clips the next week and paid $30 for exactly what I needed. I decided I would give the salon another shot considering they have great reviews on here. I figured if I went to another stylist I wouldn't be disappointed especially since i went in for just a fringe bang. Unfortunately the stylist left my bangs very uneven. One side of my face has a nice transition while the other side is very choppy. They look horrible and I've had bangs in and off my whole life and they have never looked this bad. I used to work for a salon where I learned about hair and I feel like these stylists have the most basic education with not enough experience. I put my hair behind my ears in the photos so you can the fringe she gave me yesterday along with the inspo photos I showed her. Updated review because the lead stylist attempted to fix my bangs. Although she did her best to correct the right side of my bangs were still choppy but there is no way she could've fixed them. I'm reviewing this Salon on behalf of my partner's recent experience going here. She was left very disappointed this past visit and she isn't the type to do Yelp review so here's mine... The person who curled my partner's hair, her name was Maricela, curled my partner's hair to the point she completely fried the entire bottom half of her hair. The owner gifted my partner a "hair repair serum" after the appointment was over. My partner said she never received any gifts from the salon after her previous appointments (color dying, haircut, and curl sessions), this was the first time she ever received something after an appointment. To sum this review up, we're very disappointed in the turnout of the past session, we are currently traveling out of country so my partner isn't able to fix this issue at the moment. She's had to tie her hair up this entire time because she can't do anything with her hair during this trip. When we return back to California next week, we plan to find another salon to cut her hair off and do whole new style because of this incident. read more

I was showing her inspo pics and she was not helpful at all and I even asked her if she could show me anything so I know what I was getting and she didn't. Most of the other salons I was considering were booked weeks to months out, even with several stylists to choose from. - I saw Xavier recently did a balayage that was exactly what I was looking for, so I ended up scheduling with him. - Price Transparency. Xavier gave me a price estimate AFTER he sat down with me and my hair and BEFORE performing any service. He was committed to making my hair the way I wanted it. He did not try to persuade me to have any extra services, which I have experience at previous salons. I appreciated that so much! I was beyond satisfied with my service at Shear Envy. I will definitely be coming back. I highly recommend the salon to anyone considering scheduling an appointment. The service is exceptional. I was offered refreshments (I chose a mimosa) within 5 minutes of sitting in the chair. The staff works together as a team! One stylist came over to help Xavier when one of her clients cancelled. The stylists have great energy and you can tell they all love their job. Xavier kept me informed throughout my service, telling me how long processing with take and what the next steps would be. He always made sure I was comfortable and has a great sense of humor! He was giving me so many tips on the best way to maintain my look and keep my hair healthy. I feel so lucky to have my hair done by him! The salon is gorgeous and well kept. There is a beautifully painted piano in the middle. The chairs at the washing station have a massage feature, which was a nice touch! There is a parking lot in the back, I only paid $1 for 4 hours of parking on a Monday. I really debated leaving 3 starts or 2 stars, but the more I look at my hair the more upset I feel. I really been taking care of my hair and keeping the length and so that's why I asked for just a small trim and long layers. However looking and my hair from the back it so ridiculously uneven. When I went in for my appointment I liked my hair and didn't notice it because it was styled and curled and I was happy with the color. He stayed late to do my hair and I appreciated it. However after I washed my hair and let it dry and was brushing it... I looked behind me in the mirror and it was so uneven. (I attached 2 pictures here showing that) I contacted the salon and they were very kind and offered to re do the hair cut. I agreed and went in. They were very nice and kind. The stylist that had initially done my haircut came up to me and apologized. He said he simply forgot to do it (which was very upsetting that he could just forget to blend the layers). The second stylist that was working on my haircut didn't spend much time on my hair and it all felt like it had happened very quick. I don't think I was even sitting on the chair for more than 20 min. Before I left the first stylist gave me special shampoo and conditioner for my hair color for free which I thought was very nice. I came back home and my mom still points out how uneven it was. I contacted the salon again through yelp and asked for my money back for the haircut. (I had also gotten balayage done and I think they did an ok job with that. So I didn't ask for that money back) They agreed and gave me the 60dls back for the haircut. I hadn't thought I wouldn't leave a bad review because they did have nice customer service and gave me back the money for the haircut. However everytime I see my hair I'm super unhappy with it. I have a nice event to go to today and I feel bad about my hair. For going to somewhere so expensive and with good reviews... I was very disappointed. And even about 2 weeks later here I am still disappointed by it. They were nice but definitely wouldn't come back. I hadn't gotten a haircut all of quarantine out of fear of Covid infection, but Envy Shear made me feel safe and comfortable chopping off my mane. The staff disinfects the shampoo and styling chairs before and after you use them and the tools are also disinfected. Masks are also enforced. Ashley has been at the salon for 5 years and clearly has a lot of experience as she cut and styled my hair in under an hour. Loved that she cut my longest layer level and rounded on the sides. I feel really embarrassed just writing this review, but I think people should know about my experience. I booked an appointment months a head, payed my deposit $25. Got called saying the salon was actually closed on the day of my original booking. Here we are, 2 months later. I show up with a picture and an estimate in mind ( booking confirmation: $250, -$25 deposit, see picture) After my initial check in with Genesis, she asked if I was given an estimate, which I did not know I needed. She comes back with an estimate of $390 or $425 if I included the haircut (which Genesis said I would need after the hair bleach). $425, that's without tip. I love supporting local business, but this just felt like an extremely large amount of money for what I was requesting. I have been a blonde for about 2 years. Never, and I mean never, have I payed that amount of money for a hair service. Even when I was transitioning from brunette to blonde. I usually get my hair done at North Park, just thought I would try a new place considering the limited availability of my hairstylist and just wanted a fresh set of eyes on my hair. I had to decline services and walk out. I've never been through such an embarrassing and degrading experience in my life. Not only did I not budget for that amount, but it also just did not feel right or fair. I am not a cheap person, I work really hard at my job and I value the talent and skills it takes to this type of work, specially during these hard times. I am not saying don't come here (because I didn't get a service), all I can say is get a price point before coming in, specially if you book online. I think it was a bit dishonest that they would let first time clients fall into this situation. It took a lot of bravery for me to say no, and even more now, by sharing my story. I felt humiliated, and Genesis felt that. She offered to give me a free haircut. Or to even just tone my hair. I was also thinking of getting my hair colored for a change of pace, but that was still up in the air. Because I loved Cheyenne's service I wanted to schedule with her but her time was filled up and I couldn't find a time that I was available. So, I was scheduled with Marisela to get a drastic cut from my hip to 2 inches below my shoulders. I originally asked for a shorter cut and she provided advice on how a shoulder cut would look great with my facial structure and also provided me tips on how to care for my hair. Originally, I wanted a dark red balayage, and I scheduled an appointment with Marisela as we talked about my thought of changing the color of my hair. I then decided to do an oil slick which contained multiple colors and asked the receptionist if they can provide that service. They reassured me and said they could AND they did!! My hair turned out amazing! It took literally the whole day as my hair is thick and black, but it was all worth it. The amount of time and care that Marisela took with my hair color choices and with the help of her fellow stylist/artists, I couldn't be more happier with how my hair turned out. To top the service off that I received this past Sunday, they were all so sweet, accommodating, and welcoming. I was in town for winter break from college and was eager to get my hair done before my flight back. Xavier picked up the phone quickly and was able to fit me in the day of in accordance with their scheduling. I was anxious to be throwing in my trust to the many salons I called the day of and before, but once I got there I immediately enjoyed the community and hospitality in the room (asking clients how they are feeling, if they were in need of beverages, etc.). The longer I stayed the more I realized that they have regulars for a reason. Jennifer did me so good!!! I showed her many photos of what I was looking for. The waiting area is modern and puts you in the mood that you are pampering yourself. There is a lot of open floor space in the salon but you are quite close to other guests at each station, washing and cutting. Luz washed my hair and included the scalp massage of a lifetime, then gave my shoulder length hair a great style I absolutely love with just a touch of asymmetry to make me feel stylish and edgy. I felt the price was incredibly fair, around $50, for the wash, massage, cut and style from an experienced stylist who gave me a cut I absolutely love! The reason for knocking a star off: With all the other salons crowding the block it took me a hot minute to find the salon. The street parking is all metered (my favorite! -said no one ever.) and though you can usually find a spot, spots near your location are difficult to come by. I've been to this hair salon a few times in the past year, as well as bringing my young daughter. A week ago I scheduled 2 hair cut appointments for me and my daughter for today. I specifically requested to have Cheyenne doing my hair and the person over the phone confirmed that she would be working today (I literally booked the appointment because "she had an opening"). Keep in mind that I'm growing my silver hair and Cheyenne has been cutting my hair regularly to get rid off what was dyed in the past. My daughter and I got to the salon early as always and at the time of the appointment I found out that another lady would do my hair. When I pointed out that I specifically requested Cheyenne, one of the people there said that she doesn't work on this day while another said that she was sick. 2 different answers that did not explain why I wasn't notified in advance! So they went on saying that perhaps I got a voice message, but no calls or voice messages were left to me. The opposite, I got emails and text messages only confirming the appointments, no mentions of change of artist were made. I'm very disappointed. I was polite and got my hair done by another person. I paid and left a 20% tip on the total balance. I was more than fair to the salon, although the terrible customer service offered! When a customer wants to get a hair cut or a color done, they want to make sure to trust the people messing with their hair. I was so upset after I got my haircut at Rico's on 3rd literally right next door. I asked for long curtain bangs and they left me with one piece of hair above my eyebrow.
