I'm a man of senior years, OK, an old fart... and it takes a lot for me to get off my old ass and write a review. But I absolutely love a fresh home cooked meal. If you don't know about this place, I say book mark it now! You won't be disappointed. This is one of those gems that you hear about, but seldom run across on the road when traveling. And believe me, we look for them, but usually its fast, greasy foods you end up with, no matter how fancy the name is outside. Just walking into Jody's Diner, they make you feel like family, and it smells like Home cooking from the parking lot! The staff was VERY friendly and seated us quickly. We were starving, so we all got down to business and chose something different from the breakfast menu. Looking around while we waited, the place was clean, people were upbeat, happy and enjoying their morning. My coffee cup was never empty, and it was nice and hot like I like it. Families, couples, singles, working folks, retired folks, traveling folks....they were all here. There was a steady flow of traffic and EVERY person was welcomed like family. Don't see that where I'm from. You could tell it was a local favorite, but we saw a lot of cars, and hats, from various other states as well. Us, you ask? Southern Ca. and I haven't tasted bacon this good in years! We all agreed the food was absolutely delicious and very well prepared. We even had a chance to meet the owner, Jody. She is readily available and always there I'm told, WORKING. You can see she puts her heart and soul into making sure your experience is nothing less than perfect from start to finish with her restaurant and staff. Spending time with her, you feel it, she loves her work, her customers, and the next thing you know, you walk out of there loving her like a sister, wishing her the best for all her hard work and genuine efforts....at least we did. We ALL Expect good food, but seldom do we get it when we eat out. Lets face it, it can be a crap shoot, (no pun intended), when you're traveling and have to pick a place to eat. In OUR opinion, Jody's Diner offered a "taste good, Feel good" dining experience worthy of an award at a price you can't beat. We didn't expect that. My wife and I have been eating here for quite a while and each and every time we do, the service and the food seem to be getting even better and better!!! Even if we get a to go order, the food is excellent!!! If I REALLY had to pick a negative thing about this fantastic joint, it would be the fact they send orange slices in your to go order and warm oranges are gross. One of the best diners I've ever been to. Service was fast, friendly and the place was clean. I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich with onion rings and my parents had hand cut fires with their Reuben. All of it was delicious and a good size portion. We will definitely be back. read more

Food was good, friendly staff but incredibly slow service. I stopped through here on a road trip from CA to Chicago for breakfast. Hoping to get out of the car and have a quick nice breakfast and jump back on the road. Took almost 30 min for our food to come out, had to ask for a refill for my coffee and we had to ask for the check after not receiving it 15 minutes after we finished our meal. In addition I ordered a cup of beaf and barley soup and a ginger ale.My husband ordered the pot roast and it was wonderful.Everything was delicious , clean and reasonably priced. Stopped here for a late lunch on our way to Salt Lake City. Scoring a table was easy, since we came at non-peak hours. Service was extremely friendly, our waitress, (which I unfortunately don't remember the name of, but she has short hair and glasses, with a tattoo on the back of her neck) was very cheerful and attentive, which also put some big smiles on our faces. The food was reasonably priced and tasty, and the coffee (with free refill) was very good! If ever in the area again, I know where to stop! read more

Stuck in Evanston due to snow. Went here for lunch because of hotel recommendation. Excellent food. We ordered double cheeseburger and fries, and hot hamburger sandwich with onions and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy. Very appealing. Diner had mostly locals. Disappointed! When we walked in it took forever for a waitress to acknowledge us, and then after she came over it took forever to get our drinks. I ordered the cheese omelet which is like $6.99, and when I got my food, I swear there was hardly any cheese in it! For seven bucks, its not worth it. It was mainly like an egg patty. The hash browns were not good and the biscuit was flavorless, hard and crumbly. Coffee was not all that, should've just gotten coffee at a gas station. Great meal. it was snowing and only 2 degrres outside, but the coffee and food were piping hot and the welcome was genuinely warm. We had the Jody's breakfast, me with the sausage and biscuits and gravy as my choice for "toast." My husband got the bacon and pancakes. they bacon was very good quality and cooked perfectly. The pancakes were definitely homemade--very light and fluffy. the biscuits were homemade too, and the gravy was good! The sausage is a little spicy, which affects the gravy, so be forewarned. i love pepper, so it worked for me. The sausage patties were patted out by hand from bulk sausage, not pre-formed. Decent prices too. The only problem was we never got a ticket to pay. Apparently they keep them at the front and you just figure it out when you are ready. Not a bad idea, just wish we'd known. Also, it's seat yourself, even though there's nothing to tell you that. We will definitely be back! read more
