After a long drive we decided to treat ourselves to dinner...should have gone to Taco Bell. The hibachi came out on a bowl/plate of mixed sauce and butter. Just looked like slop. Vegetables were bland (took one bite, that was enough) steak just tasted of butter and shrimp was overcooked. Fried rice also needed soy sauce since it also lacked flavor. But here is my real issue; the restaurant is filthy. Walls need to be cleaned. Booth seats need to be removed to get all the food crumbs. It wasn't until we finally started to leave and I thought I'd use the restroom before getting back on the road...I wish I never did. We arrived late, like 15 mins before closing, insisting to get a hibachi table as it would be a first for my wife.... well...they accommodated us and didn't make us feel rushed. The staff was so entertaining and funny we couldn't stop laughing during the entire meal. There was a birthday at the table, suddenly out of nowhere staff pulled out guitar, disco lights, techno music, fireworks...etc. They offered us free sake, cake and really performed a great show. There was good service, friendly staff, a big restaurant, they also have teppanyaki ( we didn't eat that) good food bento boxes, sushi etc. and very generous portions, coming from Hawaii and being Japanese it was good. My first (and will be only) experience here was not good. I could have easily have bought better quality food and flavors from the freezer section of a grocery store. In fact, nothing I ordered appeared to be made fresh. The spicy tuna roll looked bought from a store. The chicken teriyaki/fried rice dish was equally bad. It's like they boiled some pre-cooked, frozen chicken filets and poured teriyaki sauce from a bottle from the grocery store as well. The fried rice had an awful aftertaste and was very dry. I questioned whether they used some leftover rice. I often eat Japanese hibachi food, but cooked in front of me. The servers here were sweet and looked after us well. There were 20 of us and I'm amazed at how well they handled a group that size. Their sushi is really good. Came here with the in-laws multiple times and have never been disappointed. Came in for Mother's Day and these guys definitely had there A Game on. We sat down and server came and ask all the ladies if they were mothers and handed each one a rose and gave out $20 gift cards for their establishment then all the kids were getting spun cotton candy. I stopped in here while I was in town for work about 2:00 pm on a Friday afternoon, July 24, 2020. I guess the place is pretty new to Evanston. It was clean, neat and had a nice feel and atmosphere. The wait staff consisted of young, beautiful Asian women who were quite attentive, responsive, and professional. I ordered the lunch sushi and sashimi combination. It started with miso soup, that was quite good and had a nice appearance. The sushi and sashimi was good... not outstanding, but better than you would expect in Evanston, Wyoming. It was also prepared well and had a nice appearance. (See picture) So, why only 4 stars? I watched the sushi chef prepare my meal. The entire time his mask (in the middle of a pandemic) was on his chin the entire time... (see picture). I feel for people that are required to wear a mask all day, I do... But when you are preparing someone's food in plain site of them, have the decency to wear it properly. It showed a lack of professionalism and customer care... not what I want from someone preparing my sushi. Depending on your view and sensitivity to the pandemic, I would or might not recommend eating here. The food and atmosphere was good or better than good. But if I were the manager, I would show this review and picture to the sushi chef that didn't take wearing a mask for the safety of the customers seriously. read more

Let's start with, clean your front door. Very off putting to walk into restaurants with a clear disregard to cleanliness and first impressions. Next, unorganized seating. Took several minutes to figure out where we would sit. There was zero communication to us, just employees rifling around trying to decide where the best 6 top would be. Fried rice definitely was either frozen or per-made days in advance. Soup not sure how to describe, other that didn't partake. Everyone loved their entrees.
