As I drove up to the incredibly brutalist, all white and gray style buildings, listening to the customers discuss coffee notes with strong coffee in hand, I could smell the millennials before I walked in. With that being said, my hot take has always been that millennials make some of the best coffee. I tried the miso caramel hot latte with oat milk, the honey matcha, and a mango lemonade, all of which turned out delicious! The miso caramel had a deep rich miso flavor which complimented the caramel so well. Though I probably wouldn't order it again because it wasn't quite my preferred sweetness for that flavor combo, I still admired the ingenious of the flavor combo and really enjoyed it once I added a little extra sugar. The honey matcha was very good and I like the subtle sweetness that the honey gave the matcha. I could tell that their grade of matcha wasn't the best but they made up for it in technique and flavoring. The mango lemonade was a sweet pick me up and I really enjoyed the fresh mango taste. For food, I tried their lox bagel and I will admit, it wasn't my favorite lox bagel I've had. I could tell everything was fresh and I did enjoy it to a degree, but it tasted very heavily pickley and wished it leaned more into the classic lox and caper bagel I prefer. I also didn't prefer paying 16 + tax for it and definitely won't be doing that again. Despite that, I don't think it deserves a removal of a star because it was still made well, it just wasn't for me. Though I'm a gen-Z and the brutalist style lacks the whimsy I so desperately (and totally not performatively) crave, I still appreciate that it cleans and there is so much space to study if necessary. I also appreciate the community mindset with the fresh roasting across the street, pizza bar Nextdoor, and ceramics studio down the road (I love a coffee + ceramics combo as a ceramicist myself). lots of potential but the staff is incredibly rude which ruined the whole experience. tldr: coffee: 2.5/5 food 4/5 service 1.5/5 happened to stumble into DOZER after working out with out of town friends. since it was my first time here i asked the cashier what sizes were available and what they looked like. i was met with a flat "12 or 16 oz" .... okay eventually she showed me what the cups actually looked like. and okay we all have bad days so i kinda just wrote that off. i ordered a 16 oz ube latte and my friends got a 12oz ube latte and a 12oz fruit loop latte. i was actually really impressed and excited about all of the options that were available! additionally we all preferred food (2 burritos and a monte cristo). our coffee came out first and i was already kinda thrown off because even though 2 of us got the same drink in diff sizes, they looked DRASTICALLY different in color. this drink was brown in color and not purple. i wish i kept the drink to take a comparison pic. ok maybe a fluke. tried mine (16oz) and it tasted enough like ube. but when i tried my friends drink.... straight up tasted like the discarded water from espresso mixed w some oat milk. i'm not kidding, it was so gross. my friend was just gonna drink it but im thinking "surely this is mistake and we can get it fixed!" i was sadly mistaken lmao i take the drink up to the barista and tell him what's going on. i don't think was being rude or too demanding by saying "hey my friend ordered this and it doesn't really taste right. can it be remade?" he responded in the most condescending, rude way!! he told me that "because of the different size, the ratio (of milk/ube/espresso) is different because of the size..." and that "if i don't like it i should order something different." .... i was so shocked by this extremely rude response. and i kindly asked for it just to be remade. there were other people standing around so i really didn't want to make a scene, but i really did not appreciate being talked down to in such a way. a mistake is one thing, but to blame it on preference and then to insult my intelligence with some bs excuse like a ratio issue (which doesn't make sense because if you're making the same drink in a diff size.... then wouldn't you scale it up/down to retain the same flavor???). just such a bad customer service experience. he begrudgingly made another one, which i will add, looked and tasted DRASTICALLY different from my 16 oz drink and the original nasty drink!! it was wayyy better which makes me think there is some inconsistencies with how the drinks are made. regardless, at this price point i really think customer service could be way better all around. sad because i work nearby and was exited to have a new coffee place to go into before work, but i will not be returning. the staff who brought out food out was lovely, and i wish there was a more open and inviting vibe here read more

I still love Dozer even though they got rid of my beloved corned beef sandwich and their amazing house-made donuts! Because they've replaced them with additional delicious offerings like local pastries (donuts from Washtenaw Dairy and other bakeries like Two Songs and vegan offerings from Botanical Bakeshop) and tasty offerings like breakfast offerings like breakfast burritos and bowls, bagels, etc (big fan of the farmer's bowl). Also their chicken salad sandwich is quite good, too! I am also a HUGE HUGE fan of their barrel aged nitro cold brew. Oh man it's so good and so unique! I frequently take my dog on walks at Saginaw forest nearby so Dozer has become a frequent go-to for coffee and a bite before or after these walks. Their online order and drive through pick up option is super convenient. I love their coffee and have been pleasantly surprised by their breakfast sandwich and their hot honey chicken sandwich! Both are delish! They also carry donuts from washtenaw dairy and baked goods from Two Songs so there is plenty local delicious treats to try! Indoors their space is chill and quiet with most folks working or studying so it's a pretty relaxing environment. I was on the hunt for a cool coffee shop to get some work done, and DOZER popped up on Yelp. It's located in a bit of an industrial area outside of downtown, but the space is nice with lots of outdoor tables and some seating inside. I found parking in back behind the building (their website has a map showing places you can park). I ordered an iced latte and sat outside since it was a beautiful sunny day. I appreciated that most of the outdoor tables had shade umbrellas. The patio is dog-friendly! They asked my name for my order (yay!!) and the latte was very good. They also serve food, which is a huge plus for me but I had already eaten. I'd definitely come back for their food menu sometime. The building also looked to include a bar and the whole complex also houses the HOMES Brewery and Smooj facilities. I think they do events here so it's a fun spot to check out. What a great space! My book club met here and there was tons of space, lots of options (coffee + beer), and snacks. For the offer, They make all the flavored syrups in-house and the one I tried was delectable. Who would have thought up a peanut butter latte!? It was delicious! I really didn't want to write this review. I've been coming to Dozer Coffee for three years and genuinely wanted to love it. But after enough chances, I think it's fair to be honest. The pattern has been consistent: orders not ready on time, wrong items, poor handoff. One time my drink was spilled on the way out. These things happen once -- but when they happen repeatedly over years, it stops feeling like a bad day and starts feeling like a systemic issue. At a premium price point, the baseline expectation is simple: a friendly face, an accurate order, handed off with care. That hasn't been my experience. I've given it time and chances. I finally stopped going. I hope they turn it around because the concept deserves better execution. Although I love the atmosphere and working environment, the food and drinks weren't up to par as previous. The croissant was less light, buttery, and flakey and more malleable and bun-like. It's pan-roasted mushrooms, arugula pesto, and muenster cheese on house focaccia. Sounds similar but it was delicious. For vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike (I personally am not). Excellent focaccia! The pan roasted mushrooms were large and very savory. Arugula pesto bright green and tasty. Lots of warm, melty cheese. It is messy! So grab extra napkins. How have I not written a review for DOZER yet?! Huge fan of HOMES new-ish campus space. The coffee here is super creative with lots of delicious seasonal options. I'm also a huge fan of their corned beef sammie (roasted corned beef brisket, fried egg, potato pancake, russian dressing on their scratch milk bread.) It's one of my favorite sammies in AA with a wonderful cup of coffee, it's chef's kiss! Last time I was there, I also ordered a wonderful pastry! They recently revamped all their baked offerings (the doughnuts back then were pretty but unfortunately just meh!). This place is located on the west side meaning you avoid most traffic. There is plenty of parking so you don't have to add in extra time to park. We were in town for a Michigan game and staying at an Airbnb not too far away. We needed some food and caffeine before the game so stopped by here. I got the drip coffee, the steak burrito, and the apple caramel donut. My friend got a vanilla latte and huevos rancheros burrito. My stuff was all really good. The donut had this apple filling in it like apple pie and the top of the donut was like a caramel apple. The steak burrito had a good amount of filling in it. Delish! My friend really liked her latte. Her burrito was mostly egg, though, so I don't think she liked it as much as mine. I only visit Michigan a couple times a year now to see family and friends, so I've been eyeing DOZER Coffee ever since it opened late 2021. My friends in the area have hyped up this cafe and raved about the sandwiches, donuts, and coffee here. Yesterday was finally the day for me to try it. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere - as in, there's nothing else next to it except for factory looking buildings. The exterior is definitely unique with the "this previously used to be an abandoned warehouse but it's now a modern and hip brewery and coffee shop" vibe. The neon lime green color and architecture are eye catching and striking for sure. Lots of outdoor benches and seating which was perfect for yesterday's warmer weather. There's plenty of indoor seating (you can sit in the brewery side or cafe side). I've seen this set up in other cities, but first time in the Ann Arbor area. I love that they have rotating donut selections here. There's a whole open display on the counter with a little description for each one so you know exactly what you're getting. They're also very unique with the flavors and it makes you want to try a couple (if not all) each time. FYI - if you want to try a sandwich, a donut or two and a latte, you can easily spend over $20, lol. CORNED BEEF HASH - 10.50 This was a slider sized sandwich (no sides, just a sandwich) and is is pretty pricy for the area. The corned beef was tender and flavorful, and the fried egg was much needed to add more to the sandwich. Potato pancake and Russian dressing were both delicious! Overall, decent sandwich that I wolfed down quickly but I agree with the other Yelp reviews that it's a "snack" size. I'd recommend giving it a try once but definitely too expensive for me to get it every time I stop by. HONEY DUST LATTE - 6 I got the regular size with an extra double shot of espresso (+ 1.50) because I usually have a hard time tasting any coffee when I get a flavored latte. The extra double shot is definitely overpowering and I was unable to taste much of the honey or honey powder. My fault, lol. It's a light (not too sweet) latte drink that was still tasty nonetheless. ESPRESSO & TONIC - 4 My friend got this and it was pretty tasty based on the three sips I had. I've only seen this drink at coffee shops every once in awhile and would definitely recommend this if you want to try what carbonated coffee would taste like. STRAWBERRY FIELDS DONUT - 3 The donut itself was the perfect texture - don't know how else to describe it. I'd prefer a strong strawberry flavored glaze though. Overall, I enjoyed this donut with my coffee! BLACKBERRY LEMONADE DONUT - 4 This donut was stuffed and packed with blackberry jelly. It's definitely a sugar bomb. It was fun to try this one - the tangy and fruity flavors were fantastic, but overall, it's much too sweet for me. I do appreciate the creativity and thought put into this donut. Overall, great first time experience. Very expensive, but at least I got to see all the hype my friends in the area have been saying about this place. If you need coffee and a great breakfast sandwich, swing by DOZER's drive-thu. The coffee was pretty good and the corned beef sandwich was amazing. If you have high expectations for donuts like I did, you might be disappointed. $3.50-4.00 per donut is pricing for fancy Chicago donuts. Their flavors just were not worth that (the M&M's donut especially, which was a plain donut with a few candies and chocolate drizzle). The cocoa mocha donut was debatably an exception, but overall they still felt super expensive. Dozer Coffee is a fun new spot to grab some Java and a bite to eat. After a recent lunchtime visit, I can't wait for warmer weather to take advantage of its patio. It was a weekday around noon, and I wanted to meet my partner in crime for a quick bite to eat. He mentioned that Dozer was near his workplace and recommended we check it out. A quick Yelp perusal revealed good reviews and a low number of ratings (meaning it must be newer), so I decided it was the place to go to. Located on the west side of Ann Arbor just off of Jackson Rd, Dozer occupies what looks like an old warehouse that has been transformed with large windows to let the light in and a patio that is already beckoning, despite the cold. The front portion of the shop offers coffee and nibbles, while the back portion looks like it has a wine bar. Since it was lunchtime we decided to order Sammies. I got the Hamwich. I loved the sweet/hot combination of the pineapple and the pickled chilis slathered in honey soy mayo. The texture of the ham patty was a little dry for me, as was the scratch milk bread. For the price, I found the sandwich to be way too small, and it didn't come with any type of a side. I actually turned to my PIC after we finished and asked "Want to hit up the Chinese place around the corner?" I'm glad I got to visit, and I'll look forward to visiting in the summer when the patio is open. For my next lunch, though, I'll pass on Dozer. read more
